Are We Racists?

You pass me on the street, and sneer in my direction.

You call me "Whiteboy", "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey","Gringo" and you think it's OK.

But when I call you, nigger, Kike, Towelhead, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, Spec or Chink, you call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos and barrios the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah, You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi, You have the NAACP,
You have BET.

If we had WET(white entertainment television) we'd be racists.

If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists.

If we had white history month, we'd be racists.
If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racists.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were "White colleges" that would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud. But, you call me a racist.

I pass you on the street and automatically you guard yourself, the look in your eyes is that of obvious fear,or like you are thinking... "maybe if I dont look at their eyes they wont notice me and i wont get hurt"

you dont have to call me names, your looks and actions hurt me more than you may ever know.

when I call you names, we all think its funny, just like when you make every black person your token black person, and pick the black guy first for your basketball team.

everyone commits a lot of violence towards everyone. white people was just way back when. think about it, ghettos and barrios are among the most dangerous places because the people that live there have nothing else to do but sit around and act up PARTLY because in areas where there ARE ghettos and barrios, a white person will rather hire another white person over the most qualified black person BECAUSE of the face that those in the ghettos have created for the rest of the black population.

We have all of our programs and holidays for self and community empowerment purposes. You do have WET, only its recognized in forms of President's Day, MTV, WB, VH1, the Family Chanel etc. For you to have a "White Power" day would seem somewhat redundant to the rest of us. 11 out of 12 months of the year are "White History Months".

Without even trying there are college funds that only grant white people money..by default. reasons for this? varies.. lack of educated colored people, lack of resources in places where the majority of people of color live etc etc.

i guess, basically I am saying (from my point of view which is the view of a middle class black person RAISED AROUND WHITE PEOPLE [there is a difference between blacks raised around blacks and blacks raised around whites] from seattle washington, a city soo segregated by race, age, and economic standings) the white person has every right in the world to be proud, to have scholarships and what not. If you look further into it, thats what our country is made of and only recently, within the last 40 years, when people of color start to build and reconstruct their own communities and threaten the overwhelming population of white people -- and even our president says "within the next 30 years i wouldnt be surprised if the white person becomes a minority" -- do you begin to throw reverse discrimination in our faces. YES a lot of black people are racist, just like a lot of white people and a lot of every other kind of person. There are reasons behind why people think the way they do, there are reasons why people of color have consistently been the most uneducated racial groups in the united states. there are reasons why we feel we need to empower our selves and create a since of community. because we need to hold on to where we came from and still move on. Once you have made it in this world.. in the white world, you are no longer on your turf, you are no longer in your community. the reason why we have things like BET, black history month, etc is to keep people who feel as though they are not in the community, in the community. In the end, family, is what gets you through. to survive we as a minorty.. no matter what kind of minority whether it be racial, economical, religious, or sexual orientation, we as a minority must stay together to survive.

racist? maybe. prejudice? most likely. we are all humans and every racial group is the same. we all have those people but MOST IMPORTANTLY, not all of us are like that.
