Anyone know of a Papillon Breeder in Northern California?  Dan and I are looking to expand our little family...

I'm being reborn...again.  It's been ages since I've last felt the urge to be artist and to be on top of the tech geek news.  After hanging out with Dan for a few years, I lost time to fully immerse myself in the geeky goodness of knowing what's going on technologically these days.  Over the years, I lost motivation to draw and be creative...then it struck me:

A creative thought.

Talk about repressed!  Now I'm finding myself poring through html, Wired Magazines, DeviantArt, Blogger, Technorati...damn, I'm turning into...me.

Check out my new deviantart site at www.kttykat16.deviantart.com as well as the new blog I set up for Dan on www.danchanmagicman.blogspot.com.  I'll post some techworthy blogs once I get up to tech speed again.  until then, cheers!

Who is Krispy Kreme trying to fool?  Krispy Kreme has a new donut to offer: a glazed, whole-wheat doughnut. Billed as "an alternative for health-conscious consumers," it weighs in at 180 calories. Well, if you only eat ONE that is.

The mere thought of "healthy" doughnuts is just wrong.

If I were diet-conscious, the absolute last thing I'd think about having would be a doughnut!   A carrot stick, maybe - but a Whole Wheat Donut!??!!?

It's amazing how many foods have been bastardized over the years.  Take pizza for example. It started as a simple thin-crusted piece of dough with tomato and mozerella and perhaps a bit of meat and herbs.  Today, the pizza can be found in practically any locale, newly "whorified" into a cheese crust stuffed, oil laden, artery clogging mess. I mean, anything can be a topping on a pizza - sauerkraut, chicken livers, catfish...oh man, you don't even want to get me started on the pizzas you can find in JAPAN.  I saw this guy's page and nearly cried.  <Erdoboy.com>

Don't get me wrong - knowing me I'd still probably try the stuff, but man - some things just ain't right.

If you're wondering if I'm going to even attempt to catch up on all the exciting things that went on in Vegas, I'll tell you now:  it ain't going to happen.  Long story short though - I lost money at the slots (A whopping $2!), Dan lost money at the slots (A whopping $5), we saw 3 magic shows, and 1 pet show.  I also ate too much crappy fast food type foods, and some pretty decent chinese food.  Sadly enough, I didn't get to wear all my cute skimpy tank top clothings - damned cold weather.

One thing that did happen that is worth talking about is getting PULLED UP on STAGE!  Now, most people would be fricking nervous up on stage - the bright lights, the being put on the spot, the magician on your side heckling you and cracking jokes about your *fill in the blank here*.  When I got pulled up on stage at "World's Greatest Magic" in Vegas, I was not nervous...in fact, I was wondering - "should I act nervous and goofy because I don't want to screw Mr. Magician over?" Needless to say, I acted like a ham as usual - and scored a free tee-shirt for being pulled up on stage.

First off, before I begin...

Happy Chinese New Year!!!!
Gung Hay Fat Choy

Today was pretty busy as Dan and I had two shows at the Museum of Oakland.  It was the same old show, but with about 500 people watching us at each show!  (Not including the people sneaking into the show from the street!)  The energy was high, people were laughing and cheering, and I got the best compliment that I've ever heard from a spectator (a director of a company at that!):

"Your husband - he was really good.  But your energy and enthusiasm - that made the show!"

hee hee hee - Dan still makes the show, but it's nice to be acknowledged sometimes - I think I'll bask in this comment longer!

After the shows, we picked up Dan's dad and headed over to the San Jose airport - we were catching a plane to LAS VEGAS, BABY!  Five days of gambling, shows, drinks, and magic!  Dan's cousin was kind enough to let us crash at his house and do all the driving - he won't be able to spend much time with us, but promised to grab a few meals here and there with us.  It's too bad we got here so late in the evening - we only had time to get unpacked and go to sleep!

Recently, Dan purchased a book to "enhance our intelligence" after a three day video gaming binge (which, by the way, he is still indulging in!!!).  The book is a Mensa book designed to "train your brain" and to test people in order to see if they are truly genius.  A few of the puzzles we got right off the bat.  Other puzzles stumped us for a long time and we gave up only to find a fair answer in the back.  Some puzzles completely had us stumped - but for good reason.

The wrong answers were in the back of the book.

In one of the puzzles, three scales were shown and the question was asked:
"What one fruit would balance the final set of scales?"

Scale 1 featured two apples and an orange on the left side, and one banana on the right side (equal weight).

Scale 2 featured one apple and one banana on the left side, and six apples on the right side (equal weight)

Scale 3 showed one banana on the left side, and two apples and three oranges on the right side (right side being heavier).

The answer is supposed to be 1 banana.  Apple=2, orange=4, banana=8.  Now if this is true, here is what the answer implies:

Scale 1:  2+2+4=8
Scale 2:  2+8=2+2+2+2+2+2
Scale 3:  8+8=2+2+4+4+4

I was fine with the answer until I looked at Scale 2 again....8+2=10.....2+2+2+2+2+2=12.  I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed - but does 10 equal 12?  I think not...unless you're trying to screw with the tourists and overcharge them in China!!!

With Scale 2's information being compromised, there was no way that we could've come to the conclusion that the banana was the missing fruit, unless we were just assuming that it was the heaviest of the three fruits present and fruitlessly tossed it there (ha ha ha).

Either way, now I think Mensa either got to get a new Editor for their puzzle books - or really re-evaluate if they are truly genius or not!!!

Did anyone notice this on Google the other day?  I sure didn't.  Props to Miss Lemon on www.weddingbee.com.

"You might have noticed that the Google logo was a bit misshapen on account of Valentine's Day:

Where's the "L" ???

Turns out that Google was making a reference to the poet Barnabe Googe, whose well known line of prose fits well with the holiday:

"I did but see her passing by, and yet I love her till I die"

As for the "L"… it's there… it's the top of the strawberry stem. Not too obvious but all intentionally designed. Well played Google, well played."
