This is my brave attempt to catch up to date with this blog (which starts to feel more like a confession booth) before next week-end, so I'll spill my guts on last weekends visits to Lappeenranta and Alabush.
Last saturday was ofcourse the day when school ended, and for us that was good and bad at the same time. Good in the sense that on saturday the place would be packed no matter what, and bad in the sense that friday the place would be empty no matter what. So friday at Lappeenranta we had a lovely, happy, beautyful, clean, 82egetarian and stunningly sweet smelling fistfull of people who danced and were great. The gig was between relatively ok and somewhat enjoyable mainly because Ristos (our drummer hero) monitor system went bezerk during "little note" and totally fucked up the rest of the song. Things like that can really piss you off... damn you Logan! (kudos to Ridge Forrester for that immortal line, my favourite phrase at the moment)
A little hint to people who ever happen to find themselves in Lappeenranta: At the market they have about ten little booths or "kiosks" where they sell a local delicasy called "vety". I'll tell you people, there is not one single thing that i have put in my mouth in eating purposes, that has made me more happy than one of them vetys. I really should add vety to our backstage rider. Vety and peanutbutter. And a jacuzzi.
Anyway, it was off to Alabush. It was a six hour drive and is there is something other than vety I'd like to suggest to you peopple, is doing some "where ever tutuksi", then jumping on a bus-a-bus and driving through Finland on a sunny day with some David Gilmour singing on the radio. The beauty of that experience will drive you to happy tears in an instant. We also had a great party on the bus for Pasu the Light dude who had his birthday. He bought cake and shampagne and we all wore stupid partyhats and sang stupid partysongs at the back of the bus. The rest of the crew and Mariko had allready woken pasu up singing and brought him some breakfast in bead. The rest of the band got him a dirty magazine. What a lame excuse for buing a dirty magazine.
The tears would soon turn to different kind of tears when the legendary Puustelli appeared in front of us. Puustelli is the closest thing to the Riott Hyatt we have in Finland. The cradle of everything suspicious in the universe. I truly believe that leather pants, for example, were first invented in Puustelli in Alavus.
Inspite of its controversial reputation we had a great time. The house was packed with partying people, we rocked and everyone had a great time. Plus we had the whole crowd singing for Pasu. (which resulted in half the crowd bringing Pasu some drinks so Pasu really did Alabush tutuksi that night...)

This week its Helsinki -Jyvaskyla-Helsinki. I'll be back.

I said I'm back backity hac-a haca-daga sacc-a. I never really figured out what the hell Tidjan sings in the beginning of Microphoneayee, but it's something like that. An Immortal message to the lyric loving masses in any case.
A tough weekend behind us, but before I get into the sweet vibes of Lappeenranta and Alavus, (or A la Bush, as we like to call it due to some unpleasant experiences we had years ago involving Alavus and a certain form of body hair) I'll rewind back a week and take you to a small journey from the legendary Tavastia to the even more legendary Sininen Majatalo (Blue Tavern) in Iisvesi, Suonenjoki.
Tavastia was great. We had such a great time there. Our best Tavastia gig ever, and one of the best shows so far on the new tour (Which has BTW been named: It would have been easier and clever to jus die- Tour 2006) We honestly didnt expect all that much people cuz Lordi, the monster who won the eurovision song contest a week earlier was performing that same evening, and drew a crowd of 80 000 people (us finns went absolutely bananas for his victory), but luckily he stopped arround 10 pm, so there was alot of people out, and we got a good share. Tavastia was pleasantly packed and even more important, it was a great crowd. They made us feel wellcome and we played our asses of. (and put them back on later, cuz u really cant live without an ass, now can u...)
After the gig we did some backstage tutuksi, cuz we would head of towards Suonenjoki right after our shit was packed it the bus-a-bus. At this time our dear friend Marzi Nyman (who in addition of being probably the nicest dude on the universe, is also an exeptional musician, a true genious) was lured to join us on our road trip to Suonenjoki. The long negotiation went as follows:

Tatu: "Marzi, why dont you join us on our trip to suonenjoki?"
Marzi: "OK."

So he went with us. The next episode was at a gas station about 20kilometers up the road from Helsinki. Some members of the band decided that it would be a good idea to get naked and run arround the bus, while the driver was pumping gas into the tank. Then some of these before mentioned people made aquaintence with nature by literally jumping in to a tree near by, still naked. And then one of the beforementioned people got in to heavy duty car repairing by jumping naked on top of an abandonned car. Now everything was totally fine until he or she (really tough to guess which....) slipped and jumped through the back window of the car. Now that obviously will result in loss of blod and that it did. Even though we were extremely lucky not to damage any major vains, there was a fair amount of blod on the pavement. The sober part of the crew did a great job in fixing the patient. First they sunk the guy in alcohol externally (internally he was allrealy very soaked...) and cleaned out the wounds and patched him up. He survived and the party went on.
We arrived in suonenjoki at arround 9 in the morning and it was a beautifull sight for our red eyes: The gig was organized by a family who own a gorgeus "summer camp-motel-kinda-thing" by a lake. The complecs consisted of only a fiew old lovely buildings and two saunas. The stage was built right there on the yard by the lake, and it was mindblowingly nice. Finland at its best. We swam in the lake, went to the sauna, ate great food and enjoyed the hospitality of the family.
The gig went great too. Me and Marzi put together a supporting act: we covered our faces with rubber spiders and pretended to be Lordi. We looked less like lordi, and more like fucking stupid, but we had a laugh and so did the audience. Or at least two peopple in the audience did. Marzi also joined in on the KWAN gig and threw in some guitar magic of his. It was cool.

Oh god, so much to tell, so litle time.

Ill get back to you people soon.
love

This is just a short trailer to the upcoming blog. I feel like I'm neglecting you dudes and dudettes cuz I havent been visiting blogistania lately, but I've been really f***n busy moving 45 kubic meters of shit from one city to an other. I swear to god or whom ever you may believe in, that I will never ever move again. Or if I do, I'll sell everything I own before I do so. Every muscle in my 'oh so muscular torso is aching like hell....

But I promise to write stories about last weeks road-trip soon. It'll include blood, sweat, lordi, and a special guest. So dont go far.

Greetings my dear friends, greetings from the lobby of the Hyat hotel on Sunset blv, L.A. The same hotel where the members of the legendary Led Zeppelin drove their motorcycles through the aisles of the top three floors three decades ago. This city makes me feel like a little kid in an all-u-can-eat candy buffet....

The trip over here was like an colonic treatment; relatively easy but still a pain in the ass and it seemd to last forever. But with some (well actually quite many...) gin tonics to help us with our "aeroplane tutuksi" it was quite ok. After the ridicilously slow passport cheks at L.A.X everything has been a total blast. Weve done a good share of "L.A tutuksi" , seen some great bands, eaten more food than in the past four months together and ,oh yes, played a gig.
The gig went well. Under the circumstances, it went really f&Bng well. The sound check time was very limited and we really had to struggle to get our gear on stage and together, but we had our own super-crew Toni, Jaska and Pasu with us , and those guys really did an unbelievable job in getting the whole shit together for us. It really felt like it was our own stage, even though there was three other bands gear on stage. So kudos and hot-dogs for the crew. U guys polka. No...rock. U guys ROCK!
The gig went pretty much like planned. Id like to think that we kicked serious ass, but I guess Im a little biassed to say that. We had a good time and the feedback was good. All we can hope for now is to some big music biz dude to feel that tingeling KWAN-magic in his heart and nipples and sign us big time. The crowd was mostly corporate people (which in this case is good) but we had atleast one true fan come over, Shae from here in L.A somewhere. It was really neat to have her there.

The trip is coming to its end. Everyone is heading home tonite, except for Mariko who is going to N.Y for a week, and me whos heading to Phoenix for a fiew days. It s been sweet and even if nothing happens busines wise, itll be one hellova memory. All u finnish friends, or apinat, as I like to call u dudes and dudettes, hope to see u soon at the upcoming gigs and festivals.

Ill end this post with a great line I learned from some local dude one night while doing some heavy duty L.A tutuksi at the Rainbow:

"Kind words are necessary"

They are!

no, wait. it was L.A. , not the moon.
Saturday morning the 10 piece rock-kindergarden called KWAN will head out to L.A. How great is that. I guess i'm supposed to act cool and say comments like "Well its only a gig, you know. And the flight over there is really a pain in the ass. And we'll have to make artistic compromises cuz we're not playing with our own gear and shit, u dig?" and pretend like its mostly just boring to go over there. But to tell u the truth, I'm thriled to go. The flight over will be easy with a bit of "aeroplane tutuksi" action (new readers do ur homework and read the previous posts). I mean c'mon, It's a city with a rock history like no other, I could just sit in the Rainbow bar&grill for a week drinkin beer and be in heaven. And its summer there. People, let me tels ya: its gona be a blast.
The set list for LA is as follows ( and since I dont quite know if this list is supposed to be a big secret, lets call it the "unofficial setlist" that still might and most propably will cahange, but in reality it wont..) Black Lotus, Island Hopping, Diamonds, Rain, Shine, Tainted Love & Unconditional Love. We only get a 30 min set so thats all we can squeeze in. But we've played it through a fiew times in rehersals and i genuinely do believe that da set is mighty fine.
But keep your thumbs and nipples up for us. We'll need all the support we can get.

I'll keep u posted on how it all went with pics and stuff so stay tuned for more.

Country on, people!

Another activity weekend behind us, and it was fun once again. But I must start this story with a slightly depressing note...: Mariko has some kind of an Ameba in her throat, and is uncapable to sing. Thus the gigs of the upcoming weekend in Tarpere, Kotka and Evijarvi have been canceled. Big bummer, but what can you do. It's nothing serious, the Ameba, and its really not even an ameba, but since I dont really know what it is, and it propably involves smelly tissue-fluids and green gooey stuff packed in a blister up her throat, I dont really want to know what it is and much rather just call it an ameba. But She'll be fine and we'll be heading off to Los Angeles as planned. If you want to cheer her up, you can send me lots of money and I'll make sure she gets it. Or, Im sure shed love a new car or a holiday in the Bahamas. But remember, send em all via me.
I dont really know yet what the story is with the cancelled gigs, but I'm sure they'll just be postponed to an other time. So we'll be there sooner or later.

But last weekend was fun. Thursday we were in Mikkeli, and Mikkeli is the origin of an old saying we have within the band "Mikkeli tutuksi", which basically means learning to know Mikkeli by consuming large amounts of alcohol. I know, sounds stupid but boy is it fun . Later on we have modified that old saying to fit any city in the world, so Im sure it will be "L.A. tutuksi" in two weeks. Anyways, for old times sake we decided to do "Mikkeli tutuksi" once again and had a good party after the gig. Mikkeli is filled with cool people,or atleast that club was, and we had a great time. The gig itself was between ok and fine. Tidjan had major problems with his monitor set, and those things really can piss u off. Plus the gig didnt start untill 1 in the morning which is really a pain in the ass. But It was fun nevertheless.

Tahkovuori, the next day, was absolutely great. One of the best ones ever, definately the best one with the new tour. The crowd was big and totally crazy, the venue "Piazza" was a good place to perform and we were totally on fire. Everyone had such a blast on stage. We just had to do some "Tahkovuori tutuksi" afterwards...

I decided to start a new section here called:
OUR INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS!
On our website www.kwandynasty.com you can find (in adition to many new and exiting pix from last weekend) a picture of Kimberly (I think...) from Spain and "sorrybutreallycantremember" from Hungary. They have the honor to start the OUR INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS gallery.
Thanks girls for coming over to say hello and reminding me that I can spek both Hungary ("parats") and spanish ("tienes unos pezones muy de punta")

Ah yes, we have a new bus-a-bus. Or almost a new bus-a-bus. Its still not the real new bus-a-bus that caught fire 2 weeks ago but a nice improvement to the one before. Beds and everything. We had a very smooth ride.

I'll post some pix on our website from the tahko gig as soon as I get them. Untill then, farewell my dear friends and enjoy life to the absolute max.

Or to be more exact, the tour bus was on fire. A day before our field trip to Jms, our new and stimulatingly enhanced tour bus (or bus-a-bus, as we call them) caught on fire. No one was hurt, there was no big explosions or anythin else interesting, but the bus was damaged enough for us to have to take another bus, and people, the "new" bus-a-bus was majorly crappy. It was smal, smelly, cold and a maybe little ugly on the side... But it did have a tv and a playstation2 in it, so we survived.... (what spoiled little brats we are....)
Anyway, the name of the game was Buzz, the music quiz.

(this stupid annoying machine wont display the picture, so U'll have to check it out here: http://www.dynastyrecordings.fi/kwan/personalgallery.php?id=29&s=5&l=fi

Tidijan looks a bit angry in the background. He must have predicted how bad he would be in Buzz. He was quite crappy, but not nearly as crappy as our manager Antti who was crappy beyond all comprehension. But they both compensate by being nice dudes in real life. Me and Kusti were great in the game but were both assholes. No, we're nice too. We're all nice, even our light guy Pasu who looks angry and is called Osama by his collegues because of his beard.
Anyway, the gig went great and the crowd was unbelievable (and drunk). One of the best (and most drunk) crowds ever. And we had a fiew old friends in the crowd too; Maija, Hanna, Nanna and Yohanna (Hmmm... that sounds like I just made those names up, but i didn't, they were really there) So a big kudos to those girls, for making the trip and coming up to Himos for the gig.

There is a fiew extra pics to be found on our homepage (www.kwandynasty.com) in the gallery section under "the band". They're all taken with my mobiles cam so if you're a huge fan of high rez, dont bother.

This week: Mikkeli and Nilsi, be prepared, cuz da KWAN is coming to town, and u never know when our bus-a-bus will explode....

And a HUUUUUUGE thanks to those who dug out info for me on the meaning of "kudos". Thanks to you guys I know more about kudos now than I know about my self. U people make my day.
Take care and eat bear. (hey, it rimes. who cares if its stupid)
