So JD is on tour with her new band MEN and we are of course missing her and wondering how tour is going but not wanting to bug her or stress her out cuz tour can be, well, really grueling. I just can't wait for her to come back to NYC and tell us all about her adventures. I miss tour sometimes but have been reallly enjoying being in one place
for awhile. For so so long I wasn't able to do normal things like go to friends bday parties or meet up for coffee, go to the movies etc... I was always away on tour or on some crazy
album deadline and didn't have time. I mean, I would like to play shows again sometime maybe I just NEVER want it to get outta control and eat up my whole life.

Hey it feels good to take back our myspace page!!
Well, my band mates covered a lot in their posts but I have some exciting news to add as well. I had a baby! Her name is GOLDIE and she was born a couple of weeks ago. . . Friday, March 13th, 2009. We're mainly just chilling at home and taking walks, enjoying NYC in the springtime.
Although I kinda dropped out of MEN at least for the time being, I am soooo excited about the new songs and European tour. I love the way the project has morphed into a live act with talented and sexy new members. And I still have the pleasure of contributing my 2 cents and dressing up a beat for them once in a while. http://www.myspace.com/men

hello you guys,

As you may or may not know, JD and JO started MEN in 2007 as a DJ, Remix, and Production duo. After a couple months of touring as DJs they decided to start writing original material.

At the same time, JD was working on another project with Emily Roysdon (from LTTR), Michael O'Neill (from the Ballet) and Ginger Brooks Takahashi (from LTTR and the Ballet) called 'Hirsute'.

All of the sudden some crazy tornado whipped everyone around in a circle and the two projects became ONE!

So, now there is a live band called MEN.

   It's true, we're not playing shows right now BUT we for sure did not break up. I just haven't felt like being in an active band for the past couple years.  I was on the 'playing shows and making records' treadmill for over 17 years and that is a long time to do the same thing over and over and over again. Like that movie Groundhog's Day, I eventually needed to wake up and have it not be the same day.
    So what have I been doing all this time besides spinning around my room in a long flowery skirt while watching Jill Clayburgh in "It's My Turn"? Well I've been hanging out with friends, reading books, and in general resting. I also went back to college for a minute as a student and taught an art class at NYU. I  stared at the sky a lot, walked around NY and at some point became a band mentor for a group of former Willie Mae Rock Camp girls (http://www.myspace.com/adventuresofisabel) .  I  did some producing for my friend Tami's band, threw 2 surprise parties, took a cooking class and stopped eatting sugar and drinking coffee for 6 monthes.
  One of the funnest things though was a joint  interveiw I did with my friend Becca Albee who is an artist. It was for a project  called North Drive Press ( http://www.northdrivepress.com/# ) The interveiw went so well it lead to us making a piece together for an art show at The Chelsea Museum. The theme of the show was loosely, women and war. Since Becca and I have never been in a war we focused on NYC women's post 911 feelings about fear and being prepared. Basically we emailed a bunch of women and asked them what they carry with them that makes them feel safe/secure and the responses were really interesting. We chose the best ones and put them in some cases in ways that we think brought out interesting relationships between them.
    The other project I have going on is making a dvd about Le Tigre with Jo and JD and our friend Carmine. We're hoping to have it out by next year. Will we ever write another album? I don't know. Will we ever play a show again? I don't know.  But I still feel like Jo and JD are my bandmates, so to me, that means we are still a band even if all we are doing at the moment  is making a dvd. I know it sounds cheesy to say "we're on hiatus" maybe "sabbatical" would be a better word.  Either way, I am loving my time off and think it is a great thing to change things up now and again. xoxKathleen
