& 2nd SATURDAY OPEN-AIR VENDOR MARKET

On Saturday May10th 2008, Liberties Walk will hold its 2nd Annual "Taste of the Walk" festival & 2nd Saturday Open-Air Vendor Mart.

The festival is a celebration of the many eateries on Liberties Walk, with specials including an outdoor paella at Bar Ferdinand, extended hours and special dishes at Swallow bistro, and the unveiling of the Full Plate Cafe summer menu including free samples of their new wings (tossed in their homemade white BBQ sauce) from 5pm-6pm!   And for our four legged friends, Chic Pettique will be presenting their summer Bark-B-Q with all proceeds benefiting animal rescue!

 

Also adding to the celebration, there will be Walk-wide discounts and sales at the Liberties Walk boutiques, spas, and salons! 

- DNA Salon will schedule your next appointment to receive 10% off your hair services and products. (Valid until June 14th, 2008);  - Delicious Corsets will be offering an unprecedented 25% off all corsets and drastic discounts at Delicious Boutique to make way for new spring and summer fashions!
- Think Music will be giving a storewide 20% off all purchases, with 50% off all vinyl!  And to closeout a jam packed day, a free screening of Ratatouille will be projected outside once the sun goes down! (~8:15 - 8:30pm).

Liberties Walk is an open-air shopping, dining, pampering destination located at 1030-1040 North 2nd Street. A two-block strand of store fronts---neatly tucked a few blocks south of Girard Avenue, between 2nd and 3rd"ish" streets. The Walk, as it is known to those in the know, sits at the further reaching end of Northern Liberties and is home to a bevy of unique, independently owned businesses.

Liberties Walk’s newest restaurant, Swallow, opened this past Wednesday. Come check them out, just across American Street from Brown Betty.

Mussels steamed in white wine, butter, and garlic
Goat cheese bruschetta with dressed arugula
Roasted bone marrow with parsley salade and grilled baguette
Cheese plate / trio sampling with honeycomb and fruit

Roasted Chicken with fingerling potatoes sautéed in duck fat and asparagus
Steak frites / dry aged served with herb butter and french fries
Asian-glazed salmon on a bed of cilantro sticky rice and sugar snap peas
Quiche du Jour with mixed green salade
Bone-in pork loin / grilled, served with sweet potatoes sautéed in duck fat and squash medley
Burger / ground with pork belly on onion brioche, with french fries

Fennel and Mushroom / sliced fennel, mushrooms, and shaved parmesan, dressed with lemon vinaigrette

This is not an award to be taken lightly — Brown Betty has tough cookies to beat, and we like us some corsets. But Art Star's reliable sale rack and steady stream of work from artists and crafters makes it block captain. Current must-haves include "I Have Just A Cactus, So I'll Hurt You," a high-end, sinister plushie by Jaeran Won, and pendant necklaces by Seattle-based artist Jenna Colby.
