Last week I ask if anyone could guess of the people in the family photo was me.  Of course I am the little boy in shorts who seems oblivious to what is going on.

I will not be posting photo comments next week, do to the fact that I am going on vacation back home to West Virginia.  I will be visiting with family and friends and attending my 20 year High School Reunion.  I will be back with more comments and photos the 8th or 9th of August.

I like the heat......but my computer doesn't.  Due to the recent California heat wave, I have lost the use of my main computer where I store all my photos.  Due to this fact I will not be sending out comments this week.  I am sorry, and I hope to have my computer back up and running in time for my post next weekend.

I am in the process of packing things up to move across town.  This means that I will not be able to post my photos comments for the next couple of weeks.  I know that a lot of you enjoy the comments that I send out every week, and I promise you that I will be back with new comments and pics as soon as I get settled into my new place in June.

Who else is tired of these "in your face" advertisements that MySpace has been featuring?  I am just fed up.  It seems that MySpace gets more and more filled with advertising content every day and I for one an tired of it.  News Corp (owner of myspace) is making money on the backs of its users, and they need to be held accountable.

The featured MATCH.COM and TRUE.COM video advertisements need to be the first to go.  Not only does it cause the page to load slower but it is just a plain nuisance.  These ads are customized to each person logged on by sex, meaning the ads will always display someone of the opposite sex.  This means that the advertising server must first read your profile to determine your sex, and then display an advertisement featuring someone of the opposite sex.  This is a blatant misuse of information contained in your profile.

MySpace needs to stop thinking about making money and needs to start thinking of making the site a better experience for its users.  This is the start of a campaign to make MySpace what it once was; a community of users, instead of a News Corp cash cow.  I can not carry out this campaign alone.  I need your help.  Repost this to your bulletins, email this to all your friends, post it to your blogs and above all email MySpace and and let them know how you feel.  Let them know that we the users of this community are not going to tolerate these useless advertisements any more!

Thank You.

Hello everyone.  First I would like to thank those who showed some interest in my contest.  I am not venting at anyone.   I am just a little disappointed that my contest did not take off like I thought it would.  If you are not sure what contest I am talking about, you can read all about it here:

My Contest Blog

If you do wish to enter the contest, you can do so at any time by sending an email to linksnmore@sbcglobal.net  I will be sending out referral links next Sunday, so be sure to send me an email and let me know that you are interested in entering the contest.  Once I have sent out referral emails that will signify the beginning of the contest, and then the contest will run for one month.  Good luck to all.

One thing that I have been working on recently is putting together a photography themed Squidoo page.  It contains my thought on photography, my book information, photography related articles that I have written, and several affiliate links to buy photography equipment and more.  You can find my photography page by clicking on the Squidoo button that follows.

I am also in the process of completing my studies for my second attempt at My Cisco Certified Network Associate exam.  I will be taking the test in about 17 days, so everyone pleas say a prayer that I pass this time.

I am glad that I am back to blogging on a somewhat regular basis.  I hope that all of you are glad that I am back too.

1. This contest is a way for us all to help promote each other. We all have something that we are doing that we would like to promote. Squidoo is perfect for that. I am trying to promote my book. I am donating a portion of the proceeds from my book to a youth group in my community.

View information about my book at the following links:

My Book At Lulu.com
My Book On Amazon
My Book At The Book Place (UK)

2. The contest is a Squidoo challenge. What is that you ask? Well basically the object of the contest is to develop a web page at www.Squidoo.com on any topic, promote the page for one month, and at the end of the month the page with the highest ranking wins the prize (page rankings are determined by Squidoo.com). I will send out all referral emails on 15 Apr 07 and the contest will run from then until 15 May 07. On 15 May 07 the rankings will be tallied and the winners will be determined.

3. First Prize $50, a signed copy of my book and choice of a product from my CafePress store at
http://www.cafepress.com/linksnmore .

Second Prize  $30, a signed copy of my book and Classic TV Collection DVDs (9 Titles)

Third Prize  $ 20 and screensavers depicting photos from the book.

4. Let me tell you a little more about Squidoo.com. At Squidoo the individual pages that members build are called lenses, and the person who builds them is called the lensmaster. Squidoo can be used in a variety of ways. You can use it to bring together all of the activities that you are involved in on the internet; see http://www.squidoo.com/linksnmore for an example of this use. You can use Squidoo to promote your blogs, eBay auctions, and many other things. Squidoo contains many modules that can help you to have a great lens up and running in no time. Each page that you build is then ranked based on Squidoo's own ranking system. This system ranks your page based on the number of hits the page receives, the amount of recommended links that are clicked on, your lens freshness, and several other factors. The other thing that is really interesting about Squidoo is that you can use it to earn a residual income for you or your favorite charity. The site is sponsored by Google ads, and as a lensmaster, you get part of the income generated by the site. Also because Squidoo contains many affiliate services from online shopping venues like eBay, and Amazon you can earn through them as well. All you have to do is place an affiliate module on your lens, and recommend content. If someone clicks on the link and buys something that you recommend, you get a percentage of the sale. Also because I am already a member, and I referred you to the site, if you make $15 through affiliate links you receive $5 more from Squidoo.

5. To enter the contest please send an email to linksnmore@sbcglobal.net with your intention to participate in the contest. Also make sure you spread the word about the contest to all your friends. Tell them to send me an email and join in on this contest.  We want to get as many people involved as possible.

6. I will send you a referral link to Squidoo.com. Follow the link in the email that I send you and set up an account. Once you have created your account, you can set up a lens on any topic that you wish. Once you have created your lens, please email me the URL so that I will be able to track your ranking.

7. Finally, each entrant to the contest must place a link to one of my lenses somewhere on their lens. My URLs are as follows:

http://www.squidoo.com/linksnmore

http://www.squidoo.com/great-podcasts

http://www.squidoo.com/linksnmore-photography

http://www.squidoo.com/linksnmore-shopping

http://www.squidoo.com/linksnmore-infosources

8. I will spread some link love myself by developing a lens specifically for the contest, and list all the entrant's sites. I will also add each entrant's lens to my favorites on Squidoo.

9. The tag line of Squidoo is "Everyone is an expert at something". I say everyone is passionate about something. Come join the contest, and share your passion with the world.

Last December I released my book.  Of course I was excited about finially having my book out, and I was showing it to everyone that I could.  I bought it to work and showed my boss.  Looking at my nature photography gave my boss an idea.  He knew now that I could take good nature photos, so he assumed at any photo that I would take would turn out well.  So he asked me if I would like to be the official photographer for the company Christmas party.  I normally don't take a lot of photos of people, but I thought that I would try it out and see how things turned out.  I was a little less than happy with the photographic results.  My boss was happy, so I guess that is all that mattered.  I am interested in getting your opinions.   How do you think that my attempt at being party photographer turned out?

I know that I have not written a blog in a while, so I thought that now would be a good time to get back to it.  I have just been so busy lately with all the things that I have going on in my life.  I have found it hard to find time to do the things that I really like doing.  Sometimes I have the feeling that my life is living me instead of the other way around.  I need to feel more in control of my life, and to that end, I decided to try out a new website that I am going to recommend to you here.

The website is called Tools To Life.  It is a whole self-help communtiy.  The main focus of the site is called the toolbox.  Every day the toolbox is is based on a new theme or tool.  You will watch a video, listen to audio do some reading, and do some exersises all gear towards learning that day's tool.  The site also contains other tools like blogs, shares, breakthroughs, and more.  Tools To Life is also a community of very supportive people.  There are people on the site who are at varying stages in the Tools To Life program.  If you need help or just want to chat this is a really great group of people to know.

Come join in on the fun, reach your goals, and learn some new tools.

I got some great news the other day, and I just had to share it with everyone.  My book has been accepted into the collection at my local public library.  So now more people can check out my book...literally.   The book is not completely catalogued yet, but it should be soon.  Just do a search on McCave and you should find me.  Here is the link to the library site:  http://sunset.ci.sunnyvale.ca.us/

I also found out that my book is listed in www.booksinprint.com.  It is a large database that bookstores pay to belong to.  Once the bookstores are a member, they are kept up to date on new books that are listed on a monthly basis.

The next thing that I am attempting to do is get my book displayed in some small independent bookstores across the country.  If any of you know someone who runs an independent bookstore, please point them in my direction.

As always, I thank all of you for the support that you have given me with this book and everything else that I blog about here.   You all are a really great group of people to know.
