lyrics

When I Look To The Sky

When it rains it pours and opens doors
And floods the floors we thought would always keep us safe and dry
And in the midst of sailing ships we sink our lips into the ones we love
That have to say goodbye

And as I float along this ocean I can feel you like a notion that won't seem to let me go

Cause when I look to the sky something tells me you're here with me
And you make everything alright
And when I feel like I'm lost something tells me you're here with me
And I can always find my way when you are here

And every word I didn't say that caught up in some busy day
And every dance on the kitchen floor we didn't dance before
And every sunset that we'll miss I'll wrap them all up in a kiss
And pick you up in all of this when I sail away

Whether I am up or down or in or out or just plane overhead
Instead it just feels like it is impossible to fly
But with you I can spread my wings to see me over everything that life may send me
When I am hoping it won't pass me by

And when I feel like there is no one that will ever know me there you are to show me

My Private Nation: lyrics

Calling All Angels

I need a sign to let me know you're here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
'Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup

When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you feel the world shake from the words that are said

I need a sign to let me know you're here
'Cause my TV set just keeps it all from being clear
I want a reason for the way things have to be
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me

And I'm calling all angels
I'm calling all you angels

When children have to play inside so they don't disappear
And private eyes solve marriage lies cause we don't talk for years
And futbol teams are kissing Queens and losing sight of having dreams
In a world that what we want is only what we want until it's ours

I'm calling all angels
I'm calling all you angels

Opportunity
Verse 1:
So it goes another lonely day
You're saving time but you're miles away
Your flowers drowning in some bitter tea
Forseeing lost opportunity
Find your mirror
Go and look inside
See the talent you always hide
Don't go kid yourself, well not today
Satisfaction's not far away

Chorus:
Hold on now, your exit's here
It's waiting just for you
Don't pause too long
It's fading now
It's ending all too soon you'll see
Soon you'll see

Verse 2:
Your coffee's warm but your milk is sour
Life is short but you're here to flower
Dream yourself along another day
Never miss opportunity
Don't be scared of what you cannot see
Your only fear is possibility
Never wonder what the hell went wrong
Your second chance may never come along

(Chorus)

(Music)

(Chorus)

Soon you'll see
Soon you'll see
Soon you'll see
Soon you'll see

Late Tuesday says it oh so eloquently.  Time after time when my words fail me I often find myself listening to the well written, beautifully sung, and artfully played music that is (soon to be was, as the band is taking a sabbatical from touring in early 2007) Late Tuesday.  Their lyrics can speak my heart when I can't put that depth into words.

#302 Heroines/The Icons: Proof They Rocked #302

'Heroines' is a compelling one-hour film about Lincoln Clarkes' photographic obsession with forgotten women on the streets of Vancouver, B.C. The provocative program explores a rarely seen netherworld of drug addiction, prostitution and survival. In intimate, personal stories of six street women-each a photographic subject of Lincoln Clarkes-the women share painful and often shocking aspects of their lives with remarkable insight - from childhood abuse to life as a sex worker, lost motherhood and the psychological role of drugs. Like the portraits of Lincoln Clarkes, 'Heroines' humanizes a world many would sooner forget: A ghetto of the homeless, the abused, the addicted, the criminalized, and the murdered.
Who were the Icons? The Icons: Proof they Rocked recounts the glorious heyday of this rock band. Band members recollect playing at the Rainbow Tavern and other local music venues. Even thought they had to disband in order to make a living, they have no regrets. Their LP still sounds good even today. Featured in this story are Icon band members Tom Dyer, Steve Trettevik, Tim Nelson and Rick Yust.
