Lots of excitement this month!

Linq will perform at the WomenMeetingWomen MusicFest and BBQ at Alpine Grove in Hollis, NH, on Sunday August 16th from ..noon.. to ..6PM... Amy Tee will MC this exciting afternoon, and Linq will be joined onstage by Deb Lempke, Andrea Paquin, Wendy Sobel and Kathy Phelps, Julie Sweeney, Mary Day, the She-tles, and Zoe Lewis.  More details at www.womenmeetingwomen.org.

The 2009 Indiegrrl National Conference will be held in ....Nashville.., ..TN...., on August 20th through the 23rd.  Linq will perform on the main Indiegrrl Stage and on the ‘Nette Radio Stage on Friday, and she’ll be playing the Rockin’ Moms Stage on Saturday.

There will also be some terrific workshops, plenty of interesting booths to check out in the exhibit hall, and opportunities to meet with music industry representatives.  More details at www.indiegrrl.com.

Rx and the Side Effects is finished and will be available to the world on August 25th.  These songs were derived from her personal experiences as both a pharmacist and independent pharmacy owner.  The tales are intense, lyrically rollicking from tongue-in-cheek comedies to tear-jerking tragedies as clever melodies drive the messages home.

As reported in the July Newsletter, “Change the Picture” is one of 22 Political Song nominees for the 2009 Just Plain Folks Music Awards.  Linq will be in ....Nashville.... to attend the Awards Show on Saturday August 29th at the Wildhorse Saloon. She will also be playing on Friday August 28th at BB Kings at the 2009 Just Plain Folks Nominee Showcase. www.justplainfolks.org

As I move forward in life, I keep coming back to the gut reaction that music is one of the most powerful tools available to draw people together from all types of social and religious backgrounds, ethnicities, orientations, age groups, etc., to encourage the sharing and celebration of our uniqueness rather than treating difference as "other" and therefore something to be feared or denigrated.  We don't have to speak the same language to feel the rhythm and emotion of the song.

Having seen the picture of a poster being held in front of  the CA Supreme Court on March 5th while arguments were being heard on Prop 8 that said "Dan White Hero.  Killing a queer.", I can only conclude that we all need to have more conversations and share more songs with positive messages as we continue on.

I find that my songwriting keeps veering toward this premise, and along that line I'd like to share the video of "Diversity Dance" with you.  This track is on my new release LIFE GOES ON.  It's available to watch now on www.YouTube.com/linqmusic , and it will be on my MySpace page shortly.

Please spread the message of "Diversity Dance" far and wide in whatever manner works best for you.  Together we can make a difference!

Peace in harmony,
Linq
