To coincide with the Liquefy boys debut performance at the Hope & Anchor this Saturday in Brereton, we have another update of the Rock chronicles, an old feature dragged up from the past and Liquefys take on the credit crunch.
Rock Chronicles
Credit Crunch
OK, with everyone's mortgage rate going up faster than the BOE can drop it, the old credit crunch is finally taking its toll on the band. As well as buying monochrome goods from the super market out of date bargain bins, there has been some cut backs and changes on the kit front too.
Big Al recently restrung his guitar with strings carefully wound of hair from the moulting neighbourhood cats. He also spent most of last month designing and constructing an innovative solar powered amp. He spent hours on the compact frame and ground breaking optimisation circuitry and the panels were carefully constructed from 2,126 recycled aluminium cans. No ones had the heart to tell him that Liquefy mainly play at night.
Jonster has obtained a plethora of back up drumsticks using a bunch of unwanted wizard wand props from the failed musical production of "Harry Potter and the Sound of Music". He's also re-skinned two of his drums with a material he's keeping most secret, but rumour has it that he found the mysterious materials in a dark layby off lovers lane.
H is still using the same set of factory strings his Ibanez came with. 23 years and still going strong. Although, he has started using cut up credit cards as plectrums and topped up his fast fret tub with the product of his last nasty cold.
Bri has bucked the trend with the comment "Fuck it, there's always ebay".. Brimeisters Computer News
Well, people scoring high with the Nintendo Brain training franchise may remember this feature that ran last year. If not, then all you need to know is that Bri had one armadillo of a time upgrading his old computer, with a sorry saga involving ebay, a bag of nuts, deep blue and the attention of NASA. Alas, this tale is yet to be put to bed, as further developments have revealed that his old computer has come back to haunt him from the ebay grave of unsold crap.
Regular gig attendees will have noticed that Bri has been fine tuning his mega bass sound with some choice pedal purchases from, yep, ebay. While his new kit looked and sounded great at first gander, it has since been discovered that the inner workings of these pedals of effects goodness are actually built from remnants of his old computer and they've gained intelligence all of their own!
The band knew something was awry when his compressor pedal asked Jonster for a game of chess! "What about a Spanish beer called nada?"

After a successful, albeit long, night at the Rock Café last weekend, Liquefy kept up the momentum with another top performance at the Swan Inn, full review below. We also have some exciting breaking news and another episode in the Rock Chronicles comic strip..
Rock Chronicles

Swan Inn Gig Review
The Swan is one of the few venues where Liquefy get chance to have a proper beer. This puts a spring in everyone's step and the get-in is prompt. Before you could say feedback, the stage was set, with guitars, mics and drums all ready for the sound check.
After a few numbers it was all sounding pretty good, only a few tweaks were required to make it complete. So it was quite bemusing that when starting the real set an hour later, everything went tits up!
Vocals were booming, cackles were cackling, amps were buzzing and leads were churning. After a couple of songs, the band of budding engineers debugged the problem to H's amp. Pants! There was a major chug overload and the Crate was clipping. A scratch, sniff and a twist later and the clipping was gone.
Liquefy had to come clean and announced the dreaded "temporary break for technical problems", which garnered the witty response "Yes, we can hear the vocals!" H shrugged his shoulders, it was a fair cop.
It wasn't long before the false start was consigned to the bowels of history and the band stepped up a gear. A couple of new numbers were pumped out and the audience started to take note. A couple of surprises later and the crowd were singing and by the last song, everyone wanted more.
Liquefy wanted beer.
Half hour, multiple beers and a bemusing taxi discussion later, the band was back on stage ready to kick out the final set. With some last minute set order tinkering, the volume was cranked up and Liquefy delivered some true confidence in the sound. The audience responded and the dance floor started to creek under the weight of gyrating bodies, top stuff!
As the evening approached critical mass, Big Al decided to seize the day and take on his next solo with all the finger prowess of Via, Santana and Vaughn rolled in one. The moment came, Big Al launched into a pre-solo build up consisting of a 360 degree hand spring, 18 foot stage dive and culminated in a devastating 214 yard stage slide on his knees. The dance floor was full. All eyes were fixated on Big Als fret board in anticipation of a bone tingling, demon summoning, Mario thumping solo of the night.
Big Al promptly hit his tuner pedal with a plink. His guitar was silenced, the audience were stunned, Bri's eyebrows were raised, but the song remained. Fuck it. The rhythm section kicked up yet another gear and the brief moment of disaster was converted into a vibrant flavour of funk. The elevated beat shocked the dance floor out of their trance and brand new dance moves were spontaneously erupting around the venue.
The final song came, but everyone knew that more songs were needed to satisfy the nights itch. Knowing nods were sent around the band and they kicked into a couple of blazing numbers that ended the night with everyone on their feet, thinking that summer in Ibiza had come early. Top stuff!
Breaking News
Liquefy make a debut appearance in Tamworth this Thursday at the Sir Robert Peel pub. It promises to be another great night, so if you're in the area pop in, have a beer, chat and a good time.

Well, March was spent putting the finishing touches to new tunes for the onset of Spring. With a gig packed April, the hard work will be thoroughly put through its paces and with new kit also making a debut, their should be plenty of extra chug goodness, if that’s possible. Check out the upcoming events section for full details.

Breaking News
Rumours are abound that two Liquefy band members have been possessed by Jonny Depps interpretation of Willy Wonka. Their identities have been with held for legal reasons, however, it is reported that they are transforming their self images to replicate the style and mannerisms of the weird, but wonderful, chocolate manufacturer.
Experts in image transmogrification have expressed concern as to the long term effects of such an image change. "While this may seem like a harmless change of image, future exposure to such a shift in behavioural patterns can lead to darker and more sinister characteristics", warned Professor Bucket, "Let’s just say, if these men start producing chocolate bars and befriending small orange men, appropriate authorities should be informed"

Liquefy Kicked off 2008 with two great gigs at the Moderation and Roebuck. Two new songs were road tested as were Big Als new array of lighting theatrics. Jonster managed to yet again preserve his new set of drumsticks, even after some consistent heckling from the crowd. H stepped up the chug to 11 and Bri added a 15th pedal to his effects line. It's all good baby!

Double D's Pub adventuresThis is the first edition of a new feature where we document the many adventures of the Dynamic Duo, Al & Bri, that at some point end up in a pub. The ability to find a fine drinking establishment in the most obscure of situations is envied throughout the world and this feature hopes to provide an insight into how to end your travels at a good local. And so we begin with a frosty little tale..
Double D were booked to play a gig at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland back in 1962. Unfortunately, Al & Bri spotted a Gremlin on the wing of the plane and forced a re-route to Greenland. They admitted later that drinking the airplane bar dry was not the best of ideas, but hey, it was a 2hour flight!
After landing at a small airport in the middle of an ice plain, they happened to stumble across a hungry polar bear. Mistaking it for a local, they began asking the bear if it knew of a nice place to stop for the night. A tussle, a fight and an almighty chase later, they found themselves at the North Pole, battered, bruised and all hope fading.
Then, just over the crest of the next glacier, they spotted a Bass sign glimmering through the frosty sunset. Hopes raised, they trekked another mile through icy winds and snowy plains to find a homely local pub set in the middle of the frozen Arctic. But just as they thought their luck had peaked, they spied a fresh delivery of Badgers Champion Special Ale being hooked up to draught. Result!
It's not known how many nights they spent at the pub, but their safe arrival back home coincided with the Great Arctic Circle beer shortage of 1963!
Breaking NewsThere is now video footage of Liquefy's adventures, which will be going through processing very soon, so watch out You Tube, you're about to get chugged!
Liquefy are taking a festive break, but watch out for a holiday season blog update which will bring some seasonal fun and reflect at the highs and lows of Liquefys year. Have fun peeps!

Also, we had a chance to interview one of the star characters from current hit TV show Heroes, read on for some super human antics..Rock ChroniclesGig ReviewThis week, we were honoured to have a quick chat with Heroes star Peter Petrelli. He'd paid a visit to the Roebuck gig and here's the actual transcript of the interview:Liquefy: Hi Peter, how are you?Peter: You can see me?Liquefy: Er Yes.Peter: Drat, I thought I'd mastered invisibility.Liquefy: Ok,er, so. How did you find the Roebuck gig?Peter: Well, my flyings still a little rusty so I stopped off in Stone to ask directions.Liquefy: Er, no, we mean, how did you find Liquefy? The Rock band playing at the Roebuck that night.Peter: Ah yes, the Rock band, I had some strange experiences.Liquefy: Really, was this because Jonster had to set up in a fireplace?Peter: Fire, no, I haven't mastered fire yet, to be honest, I'm afraid of the fire ability.Liquefy: No, Jonsters the drummer, he had to set up in a firplace at the Roebuck, adds to the vibe we think.Peter: No, the drums were fine, it was the whole sound mid way through the second set.Liquefy: Ok, what happened?Peter: The place was buzzing and then the guitars locked with the bass and drums to invoke a powerful rythmic force.Liquefy: Cool, sounds like we locked into chug mode.Peter: Is that what it is? Problem was, I started to absorb its intense power. I, I, I couldn't control it.Liquefy: Really, are you ok?Peter: Yes, I had an inner struggle to resist the power. If I hadn't expelled the power of the chug, I think I'd have exploded!Liquefy: You, explode? Don't be silly Peter. So there you have it, the interview ended there and confirmed chug mode is alive and kicking in the Liquefy performance, top stuff!Breaking NewsCheck the upcoming events for some new dates added to November, should be another chugtatsic month. This week we see the return of the celebrity gig review and a new rock chronicles strip to see us into the Autumn run.
Celebrity Gig Review
This week we are thrilled to have Prison Break Star, Wentworth Miller, here to offer his thoughts on last weekends Rock Cafe gig. Here's the actual transcript of the interview:
Liquefy: Hi Wentworth, how's it going?
Wentworth: Right, let's nod and pretend we're having a conversation.
Liquefy: Yes, of course, but we are having a conversation?
Wentworth: I've spotted a lack of security by the South exit. We can use it to make a break for it on my mark.
Liquefy: No, it's OK, we're not imprisoned, we just want to interview you.
Wentworth: They all want to interview me, we just need to get out of here quick, this location is no longer secure!
Liquefy: It is secure, we just want your thoughts on the Rock Cafe gig last weekend.
Wentworth: Right, I see. Let me find the pebble and coffee mug on my tattoo, that will give us all the clues we need.
Liquefy: You don't have it, the full body tattoo is only part of Prison Break make up.
Wentworth: Drat, you're right, the clues are probably on my butt cheeks. I'll never find them without a mirror and a packet of mints. Do you want to look for me?
[Wentworth starts to stand up]
Liquefy: No! That's quite alright, we've already solved the clue. It's Liquefy, the Rock Band, played a gig at the Rock Cafe last weekend. We just need your thoughts on how it went.
Wentworth: Ah yes, the Rock Cafe gig, I remember it well. I turned up in disguise.
Liquefy: In disguise?
Wentworth: Yes, I put my base ball cap on. It's like I'm invisible when I'm wearing it.
Liquefy: Er, OK, so. How was the gig?
Wentworth: Well, it was poor really.
Liquefy: Poor, how so?
Wentworth: Well they were on stage, making a loud Rocking noise in front of the whole venue. Everbody saw them and there was no way they were going to get out of there unnoticed.
Liquefy: Er yes. It was a performance, they should have been noticed, how did the performance seem to you?
Wentworth: Well, it was loud, infectious and got the crowd jumping around like pogo sticks, it was a great diversion for me to make my escape.
Liquefy: Cool, so how did the set finish? Do you think the night ended a success?
Wentworth: I suppose so, like I said, as soon as the crowd were going wild I made my exit before the feds could arrive.
Liquefy: OK..
[Phone starts ringing]
Wentworth: Don't answer that, it'll be traced.
Liquefy: It's just Jonsters Mum.
Wentworth: It's an unsecure line, we must get out of here now!
[Wentworth Jumps out of the nearest window and runs off]
Liquefy: WTF!?
So that's it, Liquefy Rocked the cafe!

This week sees the review of the New Inn gig and a new Rock Chronicles strip.
Gig Review
New Inn, new venue, new rig. Yes, you heard right, new rig. Big Al brought in the Big guns and increased the PA power by a factor of 10! With everyone mic'd up and having their own personal monitor, the stage was set and creaking under the strain of 6 tonnes of pure volume baby!
The first set kicked off and the new monitors seemed to have confused 'H' as he forget every other line of the opening numbers. But a few songs in and Liquefy slipped into their new surroundings with ease and the chug level was rising. Two classic songs later and they were locked and loaded and the crowd were buzzing. The first half ended in style with the second set being eagerly anticipated.
To Liquefy's surprise, the management suggested the noise level could be upped a notch or two, so the band obliged with enthusiastic glee. A band being told they can turn up is akin to kids being left to run riot in the proverbial candy shop and the opportunity was not missed.
The second set blasted off and a beat was barely missed as the crowd aided the band in each passing song. H could hear the audience drowning him out on the anthems, which was an impressive fete given the PA volume. As the set approached its conculsion, people were off their seats and the atmosphere was top notch.
With cries for more, a twist in the tail came with shouts from the corner for an obscure song that made Liquefy wonder how they could possibly know they play it. Well they did know, so the band overlooked the standard encore offering and crashed into the killer tune and it topped a very good night.
Kudos to all at the New Inn and a special shout out to Dave and, the Mad Monk himself, Michael for helping set up and creating a great sound. And condolences to Big Al's Gameboy, that finally bit the dust through Al's hammering Tetris for preparation and training purposes to get all the kit in his van!

This week we have a review of the cracking Roebuck gig and another episode of the Rock chronicles for your viewing pleasure..
Gig Review
Two firsts, it was the first time Liquefy had played the Roebuck and it was the first time the Roebuck had hosted a drummer. With the compact stage area, other bands had failed to set up a drum kit, however, Liquefy picked up the gauntlet. Big Al put his tetris head on and helped the Jonster set up in the fireplace. With Bri and H positioning themselves in unfamiliar places, the band were ready, beats and all!
The first set kicked off in style and the crowd were warming up with a great summers eve atmosphere. Liquefy had pulled some vintage tricks out of the bag to ensure the pace was solid and with Jonster pulling beats from the Hearth, the buck was starting to buzz. The first set ended and it was half time burgers and a pint from the barby stand, could there be a better break?
The second set kicked off promptly, but the burgers must not have quite settled as the starting songs wavered a little. But Liquefy soon overcame the blip and kicked the evening up a notch. Chug mode was engaged and the set was played out with classic songs and good cheer.
Shouting for more, Liquefy obliged with some cheeky numbers that got the crowd singing. A top night that just didn't seem to want to end. With H about to hang his guitar, the venue still wanted more so turning round blind, he kicked into the final song which he hoped the rest of the band would pick up on. They did, it rocked, 'nough said!
