Dealer Mark Reed of Julesburg, Colo. this season saved about $26,000 using AGGRAND Natural Liquid Fertilizers.

Until this year, Reed used chemical fertilizers at a cost of about $30,000 on 773 acres of hard, red winter wheat, commonly used for bread flours.

He spent $4,000 on AGGRAND fertilizers this year. “That’s a cost of only $5 an acre,”
Reed said. “It’s a huge savings.” He started planting his wheat on September 15, finishing in late October or early November.

The planted rows were side dressed, or banded, with AGGRAND 4-3-3 Natural Liquid Fertilizer and AGGRAND 0-12-0 Natural Liquid Bonemeal. Reed mixed 40 gallons
of AGGRAND to 1,000 gallons of water and applied the mixture at five gallons per acre.

“In the beginning of the season the wheat looked just as good as everyone else’s,” Reed said. Then he noticed the plants were healthier and the root system was better.

“The better the root system the better the uptake of water and nutrients out of the ground. The plants are more sustainable and thrive better,” he said. Reed was getting
32 seeds per wheat head compared to 28 seeds per head on his neighbor’s crops.

Reed is a third-generation farmer who knows Mother Nature has the last say about
crop yields. Northeast Colorado got hit with more than 30 inches of rain this season, more than double the typical rainfall. “Eight major hail storms came through
here this year,” Reed said. “We took a 40 percent loss. Some farmers got nothing.”

Despite the extensive damage from the weather, he harvested between 21 and 31 bushels of wheat per acre, which is about average. “It would have been up to 45 to 50 bushels an acre before the hail,” he said. Although he suffered a big loss, Reed credits AGGRAND with helping him to make it through a tough growing season.

AGGRAND Pricing
Due to unavoidable increases in raw material costs, AGGRAND is increasing pricing on select products effective 2/1/2010. Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash and, to a lesser degree, Natural Fertilizer will be affected. Pricing for Natural Liquid Lime and Natural Liquid Bonemeal, which has been in place since 2007, will remain unaffected. In consideration of the increased commissions implemented in the Commercial Program in early 2009, AGGRAND commercial pricing is being equalized with pricing for other AGGRAND marketing programs, simplifying business for AGGRAND Dealers. In addition, AGGRAND pricing will now be available in AGGRAND-only price lists separate from the traditional ALTRUM price lists. Watch the Dealer Zone for availability. In the meantime, rest assured that AGGRAND will continue improving internal processes to ensure the company delivers the highest quality products at the best possible prices.

Place your orders now to save for the upcoming growing season.

Last year’s high fertilizer costs sent Tom Hicks of Montrose, Colo. to the Internet to find cheaper, yet effective, fertilizers.

Hicks manages K-M Ranch, located in the Colorado mountainside above Montrose. The ranch is at 7,500 feet average elevation and is owned by Dealers Kent and Misti Mazzia. Hicks is Misti’s father.

Online research led Hicks to AGGRAND Natural Liquid Fertilizers for the ranch where they grow and sell “alfalfa and grass hay and 12,000 beautiful Colorado Blue Spruce trees,” Hicks said. There are 200 acres of irrigated land, 860 total acres.

Last year’s production for the first cutting of hay was 160 tons, Hicks said. This year’s first cutting found the yield much improved. “With the AGGRAND 4-3-3 and AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash 0-0-8, we had an increase in our fi rst cutting of hay production from 160 tons to 232 tons,” Hicks said.

Last year, the field was fertilized with 28 percent liquid nitrogen at four gallons per acre at a cost of about $39 an acre, Hicks said.

“This year, using AGGRAND 4-3-3 and 0-0-8, the cost was lowered to about $33 per acre and lowered our cost by $6 an acre over the time-released liquid nitrogen product used last year,” Hicks said.

Hicks said the fields have been unfertilized for years before he took over management. “We’ve done quite a bit of experimenting,” he said.

Soil analysis revealed a need for more sulfur, but they couldn’t afford to put in the granular sulfur that needs time to work into the soil, Hicks said.

“AGGRAND got nutrients into the grasses right away,” he said. “Within a few weeks I could see the difference. For our fi rst try, it was pretty impressive.

I’m really quite pleased with the AGGRAND.” He sprayed his mixture of AGGRAND fertilizer at a ratio of five gallons of solution to 100 gallons of water on part of one field and could see where the grass was four inches taller in the section sprayed with AGGRAND.

“The biggest increase we saw was in 70 acres of mixed alfalfa,” he said. “The yield went from 70 tons last year to 142 tons this year.”

August and September are the ideal months to plant your food plots for the upcoming bow and rifle hunting seasons. By planting in mid-August, you should have a good standing clover or alfalfa crop by October 1, just in time for hunting season. AGGRAND and Imperial Whitetail Clover, of Pintala, AL, donated clover seed and AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer and Natural Liquid Lime in August 2000 to James Ford, noted outdoor host of the “Michigan-Out-Of-Doors” TV sporting show.

Ford was a little skeptical about AGGRAND products at first, wondering if AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer and Liquid Lime would be enough to treat his new food plots. On August 20, 2000, he power-disked and raked both one-acre plots. Immediately after that, he seeded with the Imperial Whitetail clover and culti-packed the seed in the ground. Then he attached a 150-gallon sprayer with a 20-foot, 10-nozzle boom spray. The AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer and AGGRAND Liquid Lime were added to the tank at the same time (2.5 gallons of each product, making a 3 percent solution of Natural Fertilizer and Liquid Lime). This mixture was sprayed on both plots and some surrounding freestanding alfalfa. Ford’s food plots are surrounded by 80 acres of field alfalfa, so there is plenty of forage for deer to feed on. As Ford’s newly planted food plots were growing through September, he noted new deer coming into this new plot. His plots were attracting deer he’d never seen before. These deer came through 80 acres of alfalfa to get to his food plots.

On October 1, Ford shot a nice 6-point buck with his bow, only 40 days after he planted the food plots. He shot another deer there a few weeks later. Ford recorded everything, from the food plots to his hunting experiences. He used the footage on a show that aired last winter. He even used the footage to instruct hunters on the planting of food plots. One of Michigan’s most notable outdoor sportsmen is now a firm believer in AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer and AGGRAND Liquid Lime.

Growing Popularity Earns Diverse Customers, Greater Profits for Dealers

AGGRAND Natural Liquid Fertilizers are a hot commodity. In fact, sales this planting season have outpaced last year by more than 63 percent. “The growth of sales has been absolutely phenomenal,” said ALTRUM Manager Greg Sawyer. “Last year was the best year ever since AGGRAND fertilizers were introduced, and we have surpassed last year.”

A growing number of Dealers and customers are learning from experience how well these natural fertilizers work. “These sales numbers show us the products are effective, less costly and people are more open to organic fertilizers now than ever. AMSOIL Dealers have discovered how well the products work and that selling AGGRAND fertilizers increases their bottom line.”

An increasing number of customers are using AGGRAND fertilizers on golf courses. “We’re looking for some results to come in from those customers. Actually, any news from customers in any niche of the industry would be great to know,” Sawyer said.

Wheat Farmer Saves Thousands With AGGRAND Fertilizers

The fall 2009 issue of AGGRAND News brings you the story of Dealer Mark Reed, a wheat farmer in Julesburg, Colo., who saved $26,000 in fertilizer costs for 770 acres this summer using AGGRAND fertilizer instead of chemical fertilizers. Reed said not only did his crops thrive with AGGRAND fertilizers, their all natural formula reduces the carbon footprint of man by bringing no contamination to the soil. “I’m convinced using AGGRAND fertilizers is the thing to do,” Reed said.

AGGRAND fertilizers can be stored in a cool, dry area for an extended length of time..

Q: Is AGGRAND more expensive to use than most chemical fertilizers?
A: No, in most cases AGGRAND is less expensive to use per season than most products while providing beautiful, healthy plants and super yields of high quality, nutritious vegetables, fruits and field crops.

Q: What plants and or crops should this fertilizer be used on?
A: AGGRAND works great on all fruits, vegetables, flowers, crops, lawn trees, shrubs and even houseplants.

Q: Why is AGGRAND better than other fertilizers?
A: AGGRAND is the most highly formulated line of natural liquid fertilizer products on the market today.

Q: AGGRAND Natural Fertilizers have a lower NPK grade than chemical fertilizers do. Does this mean that they are less effective than the chemical fertilizers? A: Not at all! In fact testing has demonstrated that AGGRAND products are more effective than chemical fertilizers, because they stimulate the soil microbial activity, helping to process the nutrients, making them more available to plants. Q: Why should I stop using my usual brand of fertilizer and start using AGGRAND?
A: AGGRAND has a complete line of natural liquid fertilizers. Our tests have shown that AGGRAND out performs chemical fertilizers, while providing all your plants nutritional needs.

Dealer Gary Bailes uses AGGRAND Natural Liquid Fertilizer in patented hydroponic stackers to grow a bountiful garden on the patio of his home in Orlando,Fla.

“The stackers are soil-less top fertigated growers and are automated with a seven-day timer and pond pump to run two minutes a day,” Bailes said. “It supplies AGGRAND fertilizers mixed in rain water that I recover from the roof gutter to two barrels. One is used as a drain back recovery to reuse the nutrients and water that drains from the bottom of six-high stackers mounted on pipe poles, to create a space-saving vertical organic vegetable and herb garden.”

Every month, Bailes adds two quarts of AGGRAND NOF 4-3-3, one quart of NKP Kelp and Sulfate of Potash and one quart of NBM Bone Meal. “I foliar feed every 10 to 14 days early or late in the day,” Bailes said. “All vegetables are only sprayed with organic insect control as needed. I operate 50 growers in the back yard patio garden. “I’m growing tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, strawberries, squash, green beans, collards and peanuts.

Bailes is experimenting with a new hybrid sweet corn in the lower units this summer. “In the fi eld it takes 55 gallons of water to produce one corn stalk and pounds of fertilizer,” he said. “This method makes it easy to plant, maintain and harvest. It’s a good hobby for seniors and kids alike, organically grown tomatoes fed with AGGRAND 4-3-3 have a flavor unmatched in the supermarkets. “I’m looking forward to fall now. Spring was a great success growing with this system.” As you can see, AGGRAND works for all types of gardens and vegetables.

There has never been a better time to go Natural. AGGRAND is even less expensive than Chemical fertilizers.
