So, another year draws to a close, and a new decade awaits. Who would have thunk that this band that we started, simply because we hated every other bands music, would have come this far and lasted this long. Well, i guess i would have, cause i've never really thought about doing anything else. Anything that is, apart from the other stuff i've done.

In all seriousness though, (if that is at all possible with me) for whatever else we or i dabble in, i have never ever thought about life without this band. This is all we have. We aren't rich by any means, and are all working class kids to the core. We don't have trust funds or wealthy parents to fall back on. Neither do we have acting careers to support us when times are hard. This isn't a game to us, this is reality and as i have said, it's all we have. Imagining my life without this band is like imagining a world without the movie Ghostbusters. Yeah. That serious.

It's been an amazing year in the darkest of ways. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...........wait..........

Anyway, i'm not going to say we went through hell doing this new record because we didn't. Yeah it was exhausting and hard at times, but it was also exhilarating and eye opening. To say it was hell would be making a mockery of everyone out there who actually does go through hell in whatever way, be it in war, in the emergency services, or simply through family tragedy. This album has shaped us for what is to come in this new impending decade. Try to fuck with it and we will kill you. Harsh, but fair i think. It's that simple.

To be able to come back and headline the tent at Reading and Leeds to an incredible crowd, to have the first single go top twenty, to play warm up shows and feel like we never went away, was and is truly humbling. We have never been cool, never will be and don't want to be. The only reason we are still here today is you guys. We are a live band, and that's what we do. Yeah making albums and videos is fun, but if you really want to know what we are about, you come see us live. It's not about who has the biggest lightshow cause with enough money you can make the shittest band palatable. It's not about playing songs verbatim while being statuesque. It's about a connection and a raw honesty that you get when you play a song that means something to you, to someone who gets it. That's all we can do at the end of the day, without it and without you, we are nothing.

All we are is dust in the wind dude. Dust. Wind. DUDE.

So here's to 2010. Only 2 more years before the shit really hits the fan. Lets make the most of it people. The best album you will hear all year is out Jan 18th. It's called The Betrayed, and was made by us. I dont care how you hear it or get hold of it. Whether you pay for it or steal it. As long as it connects with you in some way, and you support us in whatever way you can, be it coming to a show, or even just spreading the word, that's enough for me. For all my rhetoric about chart positions, at the end of the day i couldn't give a fuck whether we were number one or number one million. All i care about is that what we do connects in some way with you.

Of course not everyone is going to like the new album or agree with what i say, but if you do happen to listen to the new record and don't like it, then i will give you your money back (assuming you paid for it in the first place of course), along with a firm slap across your face and then sternly shout "WRONG!"

So a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us thus far, and to all those yet to join the good ship lostprophets, welcome aboard, it's great to have you along for the journey........It's on like Donkey Kong.

Les Dudis.

Love,

Ian "i heard he's an arrogant prick and loves himself" Watkins
