The louisden league 2009 will be launching MONDAY!, right now we're undergoing DOPE ASS BEAT 2 VOTING, (all the other beats eventually arrived!), you can check them out and if you registered for a voting key BEFORE the deadline of dope ass beat you should have your welcome email in your inbox (be sure to check your spam folders..gmail/hotmail users).  The voting for DOPE ASS BEAT 2 is to determine the intials starting divisions for producers and nothing more...remember if you dont land in a high division it doesnt matter!! as long as you submit hot beats and score highly you will get the chance to move up the ranks.

For thos wanting to vote on the leauge sign up to the LOUIS DEN FORUMS (see links) and request one in the league subforum..

Laaaaast chance to sign up for the Louis Den League (link is right here) (register if you dont have an account) if you previously showed an interest in the league (especially if you registered) then nows the time to show and prove. The league is ALMOST here!, I've got a whole load of code to finish up but I think I should be okay in time for the launch; the official rules of the ldbb league 2009 will be posted soon but ill get the site done before I start on all that. For now this is what you need to know.

TO REGISTER FOR THE LEAGUE you need to provide your details over at the louisden forums (click link and register account on the forums), YES entry is still open and the following homework serves as your VERY LAST CHANCE to get in on the action. Also if you are just a beat head and want a voting key then also register and request one in the thread located in the LEAGUE 2009 SEASON subforum, although voting keys will be given out for the duration of the league..

To make the league differ from last year and offer competition to all skill levels we are going to split the competition into 3 Divisions. Producers of similar abilities will hopefully be put against each other meaning competition will be balanced!, to add to this there will be a promotion and relegation system every other week enabling producers who get better to advance to the next divison and face tougher competition as well as producers who slip on the beats fall down a division to make way for the ones doing better below!.

REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO BE A PART OF THE LEAGUE There were a few producers wanting in last minute or a few weeks in last year; unfortunately we CANT cater for this and need to know who we are dealing with from the onset, we must have mentioned the 2009 league in the blogs a long long time ago so you cant act like we didnt put the word out, IF YOU FLOP THIS HOMEWORK YOU ARE OUT OF THE LEAGUE!, its all about commitment here so if you cant even do this first qualifying homework we know you arent up to it sorry but thats how it is, so read below for details on what this is all about.

Homework 57 - Dope Ass Beat 2
 

A while back we had left the battles for a couple weeks and needed to warm the crowd back into the weekly beats so we decided to drop "Dope Ass Beat", inspired by a Kanye video of him making one for a news reporter producers had to enter a recent dope beat just for an open session with no particular theme. We are going to do this once again for this homework, the league qualifiers. This beat will be used to seed your placing in the league, obviously you arent going to sum up your talent in just one blap BUT we will get a good idea!, beats entered between now and the deadline will go into the league system and voted by the league entrants to decide your placing, the top third going into division 1, middle third division 2 and bottom third into division 3. Scoring will be done via a special league page sent to all the participants of the league.

I GOT A DOPE ASS BEAT BUT IM NOT INTERESTED IN THE LEAGUE
Ok, well sorry but just this one time we cant accept the beat from you this week, ONLY ENTER if you are going to be a part of the league and if you are you need to register at the louisden forums over at '' as we need your contact details to keep you up to date on league runnings. SO...there you have it.

RULES
This week producers have to send in a dope beat, anything recent that we can use to gauage your production abilities; these beats will go into the league system and get voted on to decide your initial start position.

DEADLINE
READ!!!!!!, BEATS ARE DUE BY THURSDAY 13TH OF AUG ABSOLUTE LATEST!!..UPLOAD YOU BEAT TO AN UPLOAD SERVICE (PREF SENDSPACE!), VOTING ON THE BEATS WILL BE OPEN FROM FRIDAY 14TH AUGUST UP UNTIL MONDAY 17TH AT WHICH POINT THE LEAGUE SITE WILL GO LIVE WITH YOUR INTIAL STARTING POSITIONS..... IF YOU FLOP THIS HOMEWORK YOU WILL NOT BE ENTERED INTO THE LEAGUE...we need to cut the wasters from early on!.

Once again the deadline is THURS 13TH AUG...you got 1 week...however we will be having a session with the beats we receive by SUNDAY, but you still have till the THURS to cook some super fire if you think you need that long..

Louis Den Beat Cypher 06
The grind is well underway for the latest beatcypher installment which is happening on August 13th This time round we'll have FS Green and Sir OJ travelling all the way from Amsterdam to tear the place up with new blaps..joining them will be Shears flying the flag for louis den who wont disappoint if his recent homeworks are anything to go by and finally local Birmingham producer Urban Monk whos brought heat in the past to our open beat rounds we should be in for a dope night...

Ok on with the new homework..this is the last one before the league qualifier so get your practice in!..


Homework 56 - "A Big Club Sandwich"





One of the last homeworks before last years league was ldbb club sandwich where producers had to flip 3 samples into one beat..named club sandwich as theres 3 slices of toast in each with different fillings joining em up..similar to what you gotta do with the samples (layering them up)...



Okay so heres the follow up...this time round we want you to make a BIG club sandwich by combining a BIG PUN, BIG L and NOTORIOUS B.I.G sample into one beat!...



RULES
You have to hunt down 3 breaks 1 of each being used in a Big Pun,Big L and Notorious Big track and flip the 3 sounds into a fresh new beat...you also should let the samples ride out at the start so we back reference the original tracks!...As always (dunno how some newbies miss this lol)...NEWBIES ALWAYS WELCOME!..make your beat and upload it to a filesharing service like zshare/mediafire or our preferred joint sharebee or sendspace...its up to you to ensure your link works so test it before! Cant chase you on sessiin day!.

Alright people, gotta keep this one short as im bloggin from the batphone and about to bounce for a short trip..divshare wasnt behaving so the beats will have to wait til back!

Aite so Monday myself, Kelz and Myke Forte hit the lab up for session 55 entitled "Percy Filth Reflips"...the goal of this weeks challenge was to revisit samples provided by and flipped by Louis Den's own Percy Filth whos just dropped his very dope follow up EP "Elbow Grease"..go pick that up!...On with the vid...un

A lot of entrants this time which means maybe style challenges are the way to go if we want to spice things up! check the beats out and see what you think!.

We've been out the game for a minute but its been for a good reason; mainly down to a few overseas missions which you can read about at the LOUIS DEN BLOG located at http://www.louisden.com take a look at the latest entries with important news updates on BEHIND CLOSED DOORS 2, BEAT CYPHER 06 (AUGUST) and LOUIS DEN LEAGUE 2009 SEASON!!...Also be sure to check the league blog that I've just written that contains all the necessary information regarding this years league.

Ok back with the homeworks! dont worry about the lab session videos for now, they will appear we're still on the catchup but we also dont wanna fall outta step with it as the homeworks will prove a good exercise for the new heads to cut their teeth before the league starts.

Lets get rolling with a new homework!!, Louis Den FAM and Birmingham (UK) producer PERCY FILTH has not long dropped his dope ELBOW GREASE, EP which is the follow up to his debut release DONT TAKE IT PERCYNAL if for some reason you dont know percys work then check out some of the dopeness right here at Suspect Packages or the louisdenbeatbattles youtube channel for his great appearence in BEAT CYPHER 03...where was I yeahh so to celebrate the launch of Percy's new product we're gonna step into the mind of LORD FILTH and revist some of the samples he used to create the first EP he dropped a couple years back...(nothing from the new joint..not tryin to bait him up too hard!!)



Homework 55 - Percy Filth Reflips!



RULES
Ok so trawling through the sample pack provided you have to use the sounds provided and flip them into a new beat, you can use as many or as little as you like just as long as the finished beat contains recognisable samples!!, in true PERCY fashion it'd be a sin to not allow the use of synths or extra noises but do remember is a sample challenge so dont get too carried away!, check out some PERCY FILTH material if you need some inspiration as to how some of these wack samps can get flipped!.


DEADLINE
Right heres the tricky part...the lab session MAY happen on Sunday but could happen on MONDAY, either way the deadline still stands at SUNDAY 19th JULY...but due to a busy studio schedule this week we may not get a chance in the den till MONDAY night!! ha....but we're sticking to do doing it on Sunday!, if you need to know the latest I suggest you stay locked to the louisden twitter (links below).

Homework 54 - Spy Week


This week the goal is to flip spy music, that can be themes to TV / Movies, Espionage themes / library records..anything that has a spy feel or element to it its up to you.

RULES
All extra sounds are allowed just as long as you are following theme and we can hear it in your composotion.

Ok new homework, keep an eye out for the "Stars In Their Eyes" session video, a few ill beats we had on Sunday and was an interesting session; those who missed the stream would wanna get in on the vid!.

Louis Den Beat Battles Homework 53 - "Battered Breaks"

We're all about breathing life into old samples here, or at least get you digging around a difficult theme; well this week we want you to revisit old samples; not just any regular samples but onces which have been beat over the head around a million times and flipped to death!!!, why?? because we're going to carry on tradition in an effort to keep them fresh!!, after a little bit of searching I've compiled a list of SOME of the most sampled tracks in hiphop history, look these up if you need proof.
