Current mood:  excited
So I just started my new contract at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai this week. Its a pretty amazing place and we get some pretty good perks too! We're playing in the Skyview Bar which has a real buzz to it so hopefully its going to be a good contract. Will definitely, definitely be back in the summer though. I know I keep saying that but I will!
Anyway, I'll keep you updated on how we get on here but hopefully its going to be a great experience. The paper at home ran a story on it, which was so great to see. Check it here

Current mood:  contemplative
Been a strange few weeks. We've decided to do one last contract, but it was at such an amazing hotel that we couldn't turn it down! Will definitely be home in the summer though, without fail. Someone close to me died very suddenly recently and I went home for a few days for the funeral. Made me very homesick and also made me look on so many things differently, including my plans for the future.
So back in the summer with lots of new tracks and lots of gigs. Hope to see you there x
ps everyone I mention the Nanny to thinks I'm some kind of weirdo for enjoying it. Perhaps something has happened to my sense of humour since I moved away...

Current mood:  pensive
I was so determined to come home after this contract but some other offers are starting to come in and I'm not sure what to do!! Things in the UK sound so terrible at the moment, but I really want to come home and see everyone and get involved in the music scenes again. Will have to decide soon. Its quite sad to see what this economic crisis is doing to a lot of people - so many people I have to deal with in a business sense, both here and in the UK are becoming almost underhanded. Everyone is so worried that they are now only looking out for  themselves and doing whatever it takes to stay afloat regardless of other people. I'd like to swear profusely at this point about several companies in particular but I'll leave it for just now. Can't wait until its all over anyway.

I've been working on my music theory and listening skills of late while the songwriting block takes up residence for a while. Anything to try and not spend days in front of the TV and fry my brain.  I've discovered "The Nanny", an old American sitcom which is on everyday. Amazing! Questionable theme tune. I feel a bit out of touch with whats happening musically in the UK so if anyone has any good tips, let me know!

Current mood:  breezy

Wow, we're more than half way through the Dubai gig already. Its gone soooo fast. Itching to get home and get this new stuff recorded (studios out here charge over £100 an hour!!!) but will also be weird going back to reality. And the cold.

Will be putting a band together when I get back to, so will be good to see who's around.

Anyway, just to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all, and hope the hangovers haven't been too hideous!

xx

ps new website being made at the moment. Will let you know when its ready

Current mood:  breezy

Well we've been over in Oman for almost two months and its going great. Really learning a lot from performing 6 nights a week, and learning an incredible amount of songs!

Also getting more material ready for the new album, so will hopefully have it ready to go when I get back

Have finally finished off my first batch of original songs, which is very exciting. Any feedback on them would be great. And thanks to those involved: Tom Scott, Calum Mcintyre, Johnny Copland and Ant Law.

There are many more to come......

I'm busy working on my first album at the moment. We're going into the studio (Sound Cafe) in the first week of November and hope to have it ready for release by December. Its going to be a mix of jazz classics ranging from Gillespie and Monk to Gershwin and Horace Silver.
