to address rumors of a break up of the band and the apparent interview with Brandon Flowers of the Killers saying to NME that Louis xiv, the band, has broken up... Brian Karscig says this: "Never say never to another LXIV record...just not anytime soon." Brian Karscig has apparently left the band and started group The Nervous Wreckords after stating, "Louis XIV started to feel more like a business than a camaraderie, and in that, the music started to suffer and started feeling uninspired". you can check out The Nervous Wreckords and their bio and contributors on: www.myspace.com/thenervouswreckords Jason Hill is also working with other bands in the studio and on solo material as well. Brian Karscig, "The memories, love and pride i have for LOUIS XIV (Jason, Mark, Jimmy,) are undying...It just felt right to walk away now and to pursue an uninhibited creative outlet, was the right thing for me to do as an artist. Making music should never have to be a forced thing, or a chore...it should bring happiness and a desire to live, and that's what I'm doing for now."

Hi All, We have just set up a site at WWW.MODLIFE.COM or more accurately WWW.MODLIFE.COM/LOUISXIV Its just started up but I’ve started writing a blog in there. It’s a lot more fun these days being on the road so I figured I would write my ridiculous thoughts down for anyone interested to read. My syntax and grammar might not be the best, so I’ll warn you'll now. On the site we will be posting pictures, blogs and videos nightly and even live feeds of backstage stuff and soundchecks and whatever we feel like it. Some of these shows soon, maybe even London , we will have live feeds of the shows while they are happening. Come check it out.

Talk with you soon,

Jason

Plus – make sure to check out Anya Marina's new album Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II. Brian, Jason, and Mark all made major contributions to the record. If you like it- make sure to pick it up at Amazon mp3 for just $3.99 (offer is good today only!).

August 19, 2008 Suns going down. Glasgow, Scotland. In the sights of an unsleeping eye. Like looking down into the piping of a long barrelled pistol. I knew I was in trouble once I smelled her skin. Like new summer, fresh cut grass. I waited across the street, but in windows view as she mopped the floors, emptied the cash register and locked the back doors. Its raining out and I cant help but wonder how her skin might smell from the rain. Like a wet dog or like raindrops on a tulip. I tell myself a soaked mutt so I will just move on. No chance though. I'm hooked. A poor fish on a hook, wrong place at the wrong time. I'm stuck. The air around her is too thick to move. I'm cookie dough now, and she's the baker. Normally I might be the drain to her faucett but now I'm clogged, filling up, going to flood over the basin and make it even harder to move. Suddenly she pulls her overshirt off, a tan dress with red and black floral patterns underneath. I pretend she does it for me. Time to go. She's off from work. Should I follow? Her eyes caught mine just once. Did it mean something to her too? What to do. If I wait too long I'll ruin my chance. Can't seem timid. Can't seem desperate. But I feel I am. I know it will consume me. Her eyes watching me while I sleep, when I daydream, in every sound I hear I will hear what I think her voice may be. It's raining harder now, the time smoothed cobble stone streets of Glasgow beneath my feet. She seems to float. She's out the door, a grey wool like coat over that dress. Flat red shoes. She looks hurried. Looks toward me for almost a moment, her eyes too shy to meet mine. Almost a smile, her teeth scratch her naked soft lips. I feel my legs moving toward her, but I'm not. The airs too thick to move. I can hear my heart beating, sounds like a kick drum in a small cramped room. Boom boom, boom boom, boom boom. Can't breath deep. Only short pulls of thick air. Too thick to move and she's gone. J.H

GUTENTOG!!!,
Just decided to give you all a tour update thus far, whiled sitting in a "biergarten" in Berlin "ien Bit bitte", (one beer please) and off we go…..
Stariting with a bang at Lollapalooza in Chicago, I think all of us came off knowing that we felt good about doing the tour as a 4 piece again….as, much as I love and miss Ray and Louis C., playing a lot of old songs from our first S/T album felt great stripped down as a 4 piece…"it's the girls that make him Happy", "The Grand Apartment", and "It's the girls that make him Sad" have been making it into our set lists, so have stripped down versions of the new albums, "Sometimes you just want to", "Air Traffic Control", Guilt by Association", and "There's a Traitor in this room" have been super fun to play….It's kind of a downer that so many good bands played Lolla, but we literally flew in, played the show, did about 6 interviews of press, hung out for a few cherished moments with Perry Farrell and we were off in a car, to the airport, to got to Montreal.
Chicago was rivaled in enthusiasm by Montreal…it's the the first Osheaga festival, and that festival goes off..I got to see Spiritualized, NERD, Iggy and the Stooges, and the Killers. All of which were great…..
Iggy was staying at the same hotel in Montreal, and In the morning when we checked out, police were there b/c thieves came and stole off the Stooges gear….fucked up. Hopfully they find em….our gear was in a closet 25 ft from where theirs was ripped off.!!!!
Philly (Camden NJ) Download festival was almost the same lineup as Montreal….we got to play with the Killers and Iggy and the stooges again, but didn't get to see any of them perform that night b/c again….off to the airport to go to Boston, but I did meet some of the coolest fans who insisted on buying us drinking every 2 minutes….thanks!!
Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Middle East is a fucking awesome club!
It reminds me of a 500 person Casbah, (My favorite music venue in SD)….there are no frills about it…just sweaty, dark, and rock! Plus, upstairs is a kick ass Mediterranean restaurant that caters the backstage.....the best hummus, tabouli, and stuffed grape leaves ever. The show was killer!, and it was our first headline date of the tour, as opposed to festival slot, so we got to play about an hour and twenty mins, stretch out, and have some improvisational moments. Thanks for packing it, being rowdy, the free bottle of Jameson, and extra thanks to that guy who came on stage and sang the verses for Illegal Tender when we forgot the words, its been awhile since we played that one!!!….you guys rule.
Leaving boston, we hit the airport again, and headed to Copenhagen, Denmark. This was our first time in this country and were blown away by it…..we were so pumped at the crowd that showed up and knew all of our words, felt awesome!!….I swear everywhere people know the words to "A letter to Dominique"….what is it about that one?.....The food, the people, and especially the hippie commune (Castonia? I think) where our bus driver manages to score me a bag of weed for 20 Euro…and it is of fantastic quality! Thanks Bob!
And thanks to the person who wrote "LOUIS XVI REIGN DE" on the side of the bus in permanent marker…even though we are "LOUIS XIV" and the tour bus company is charging us 65 Euro to have it removed…..its still pretty awesome!.
Moving on….SVEE_DEN! Hands down some of the most gorgeous women/people in the world, but this pickled Herring thing? j/k….its weird in texture, but oddly delicious. Gothemburg, Sweedon was our first visit to this country as well….we played part of a festival called Way out West, but it was like a South by Southwest (Austin TX) in comparison. It was a series of concerts over 4 days and mostly took place in the venues around town…. We played a club called Sticky Fingers, and we played a packed room with a band called the Gutter Twins. They were killer, and had the singer of the Afgahn Whigs and also an idol of mine Mark Lanagan!…singer of the 90's band Screaming Trees, also did some songs with QOTSA, as well as the man behind one of my favorite solo records of all time…."Bubblegum". Geti it Bubblegum by Mark Lanagan band…..Insane! The show was great, country was lovely, and off we were, to here, Berlin GER!!!, in a 'biergarten' giving you all the skinny on whats happened in our world so far…
Our bus is parked in front of the club we are playing tomorrow, and tonight there is a "Karrera Klub Party"…..which to me means night off in Berlin, our crew's first night off, our homie Rich on tour video and still photog-ing the tour, and all of us ready to dance and get drunk to the hits of Kraftwerk, Scorpions, KMFDM,and of course Hasselhoff…..!!!!

Check out this great fan-made video for "Tina". The video features a montage of Tina Yothers clips from "Family Ties". Maybe she is the real inspiration behind the song?

Vancouver

Howdy, everyone. Apologies that we’ve been so shit in keeping up this blog. We’ve been thoroughly chastised by those in the know, who claim that a blog is not a blog if you don’t actually write anything. So, sorry. But see, we’ve been on this tour for what seems like four months (hmm, maybe it actually is four months), and the days blur. Crowds are great, venues are cool, but it’s not helping that we’ve all caught some evil germs on this tour. What goes around in this place, stays around. We’re all fucking sick now though, coughing up lungs everywhere, totally tired out, and drinking Irish whiskey and brandy to help us sweat out the poison. Woke up the other morning absolutely drenched in sweat – maybe the whiskey helped? Think I’m through the worst of it. Anyway, we’ve been powering through the gigs, and still managed to be singing and sounding pretty good from what the fans have said. Amazing, since our collective heads have felt like they’ve been stuffed with musty socks and jello.

Spent a few nights in Vancouver – love that city – and was last there a month or two ago with Hot Hot Heat and the Editors. We checked out Vampire Weekend the night before our gig, but were really let down…..I don’t blame them though…they are good at what they do, just over-hyped….hard to live up to. Day of the Vancouver gig – we did a few interviews with local mags, online stuff and radio stations, Jason and I split up the press duties, and then went on way too early b/c the venue tries to put on a club night after the show. Lots of cute fans in the front row, so even with our flus I think we managed it. The Crowd was one of the best of the tour, and really into it. Made it a lot easier to keep our energy.

Hung out afterwards in the bus with a couple of friends and a cool writer (hey Mikala), and discussed the sorry state of our on-bus sauna. I’m worried it’s gonna get a bit moldy, but it’s totally helping us get through the colds. How fucking awesome to have a bus sauna. I don’t even think Motley Crue have one. They’re really hard to find, but hey, nothing but the best for us, ha.

After a hot tottie drink to nurse our ailments, Ray, Mark, and me went and got a spicy Vietnameses Pho soup, stayed in and watched a movie with Jason(Raising Arizona). Jimmy had been asked to DJ at a neighboring club around midnight, and Louis (violin player) joined him. Some girl had given Jay this earring to give to me so I wore that. Kinda weird but kinda cool too. Very 80s thing, with a bolt of lightning. Haven’t worn earrings for ages, but managed to skewer it through my ear anyway, and haven’t taken it out since…...so thank you (if you’re reading this)
Will try to write more. Come see us if we’re passing through yer town, there’s not a lot of dates left. And then we continue recording again for the next album! Hope to see you out there!

p.s thanks mikala for helping~!
