Dear friends,
Thank you all for the many messages filled with kind words and devout requests to head back out on the road. But after a long, hard year of touring, we, Low Millions, are on a much needed break. This past year we’ve made some great music, wonderful fans, and many new friends along the way...thank you all. To answer your questions about what we’re up to during the break, collectively we are: humming and strumming in Montreal, producing records in Studio City, playing gigs with Fiona Apple, and traipsing through Australia with Hilary Duff. The new year will bring new material and a new CD to follow. Stay tuned!
Season’s Greetings,
Michael

I have the incredibly difficult task of putting into words our trip to the beautiful country of Singapore. In our efforts to take over the world, we’ve taken one small, but important step into the exotic region of South East Asia, which I will now refer to as SEA.
Day 1:
We arrive from a relatively painless 20 hours of travel are greeted at the airport by the tireless Siew Hoon. Then we meet our wonderful friends Dee and Taryn at the Shangri-La Hotel. We were first acquainted with these lovely ladies in London earlier this year. Dee is just about the coolest record company gal you could ever meet and Taryn…let’s just say we’ve all been dreaming of a midnight tryst with her since our meeting last April. Stopping a clock would be a gross understatement for her. When Big Ben mysteriously stops ticking, you can bet that Taryn is in London, or at least in the UK. Our driver Halim gives us a great little tour of the area and drops us off in Little India. We have an amazing lunch at Muthu Curry and continue to walk for hours through Little India, back towards Orchard Rd, and finally to the hotel. From the Hindu Temples to the overly kind people on the streets, we have fallen in love with Singapore. Later in the evening we have a scheduled dinner with EMI directors from all over SEA. Met so many great people from the Philippines (my peoples!) and India (Erik’s peoples!) just to name a couple. Julius from Malaysia topped the evening off by taking us out for a drink at a local club. We all head to our rooms to deal with jetlag in our own way.
Day 2:
Jetlag and a full court press baby. It’s an all day press junket with journalists from, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, and China. We have a short break for soundcheck where we find young Mitch has blown up my pedalboard, a minor panic that is remedied with a trip to a local music store with Siew Hoon. Then it’s on to a 2 hour video shoot with MTV Asia, a short dinner break, another soundcheck, and finally one of our best shows ever at a club called DXO. The band was on fire tonight. Everyone was on stride and I think the audience could feel it too. This was a truly special and sentimental performance for us folks, and it included an encore with Julia. We can only hope that we did well enough to warrant a return trip to this part of the world.
Day 3:
More press, more jetlag. The morning is filled with TV interviews for the band. Erik and Brett catch an afternoon flight back to Los Angeles as Adam and I continue with more press. For the past few days, we’ve all eaten at The Line, one of the best buffet experiences you’ll ever have. With an equally astounding breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it was tough to leave the hotel. I think we’ll all return a little heavy on the belly. Later that evening we catch a performance by a band from the Philippines called Bamboo. They had a rough start due to technical problems with the sound system but pulled it together by the end. Nice work boys. The showcase reminded me of an unfortunately catastrophic performance showcase of our own in London. Adam and I have many Singapore Slings with our man Hans and we wind down the evening sharing a nightcap with lovely ladies from EMI and MTV keeping us company.
Day 4:
One more gluttonous breakfast at the line, a quick drink with Dee and Taryn, a goodbye to Hans, Norman, and all the SEA EMI peeps we’ve met on this trip. Siew Hoon and Halim get us to the airport. Adam and I embark on a 17 hour flight home. We are sad but greatly encouraged that the good people we’ve met will do everything in their power to get us back here.
Special thanks:
Hans – our champion of SEA, thanks for the many Singapore Slings, you are a texting madman
Dee – the glue of this whole operation, keepin’ it real and together baby!
Taryn – an absolute princess, simply delicious, you work so hard I think you forget how beautiful you are, I’m sure that every artist you meet falls at your feet and Low Millions are no different
Caroline – see you at the pool
Siew Hoon – come and be our tour manager
Jeannie – we’re gonna steal Siew Hoon from you so watch out!
Julius – I owe you a beer
Matt, Jesmon, Chris – hope to see you soon my Filipino brethren
Norman – we’re ready for Asia and we won’t let you down
Halim – above and beyond the call of duty driving us around Singapore
Shangri-La Hotel – don’t mess with EMI, bitches!!
Until next time,
Michael
P.S. The band has never seen Adam so out of sorts: one of the most common descriptions of Adam is that he is "charming". But this time, finding his trusted "charm" has no effect on a certain regional EMI girl from Hong Kong. Adam (in disguise) lays down drunk (too many singapore slings) hoping to be eaten alive in a local square.

...Chocolate Mousse and Déjà Vu. Have we not met? Seems like we were just here but this time a few more Venturians came around to show they’re support…thank you. Souvenirs, party ticks, novelties…party tricks! We had a private screening of the feature film, “In Search Of…” tonight in the dressing room. There’s always something happening in the dressing here. Last stop for a while here in So Cal, U.S. of A. Next stop, Singapore. Special thanks to Mark from KFYV for making this evening possible. I miss you John Wilmer and we all love John Walsh. Great to see you both!

Tonight separated the football fans from the music fans. In this part of the world, you can imagine who would win a tug of war contest. But the important thing to remember is that no matter how many people were in involved, it was a magical evening for some. Next door to a late night food spot in Green Bay, Caffe Espresso, stands the beautiful and majestic Meyer Theater. Every little detail inside, from the stage to the ceiling was spectacular. Bring in a handful of Low Millions fans and some faithful WKSZ listeners and you’ve got yourself a night to remember. We enjoyed playing an intimate show for you, Green Bay, and we hope you’ll have us back soon. Special thanks to Tiffany and Angela who sat in 7 hours of traffic to get to this show, talk about devotion. You girls rock!! Oh and thanks for the bras, Erik’s been needing to get his man boobs under control. To Dave and everyone at WKSZ, thank you for making this show possible and for your continued support. We appreciate every bit of it…even down to the baby wipes on our rider!!

This entry comes to you direct from a flight to Denver. Erik and I are sitting in 1st Class, together, sipping champagne and wine, enjoying each other’s company and warm nuts. Two days ago we had a night off in Chi-town, not such a bad thing. Last night we played a great show for some real music lovers. This city is special to us in so many ways. Chicago for Low Millions means:
• the pleasure of a cool summer breeze
• patio dining at Topo Gigo in Old Town
• wonderful wine at Cru
• an unforgettable skyline at sunset, as seen from the Field Museum
• our dear friends: world famous Jason Greenberg and the lovely Heather Johnson
• Tiffany from the Chi-Town Millionettes
• old stomping grounds for Brett and Mitch (LM-FOH)
• House of Blues Hotel (A Loews Hotel)
• hanging with Sean Hurley and Vertical Horizon in the Foundation Room
• Katy and Lindsay
• Brett’s mom and bro!
• hi-jacked pizza at 3am
• chicken parm at 4am
• sharing the stage with Shawn Mullins
• WXRT!
The list could go on for days but I’m getting a dirty look from the flight attendant. She’s cut me off from more champagne and is insisting that I put away my laptop. But the flight is another hour more! Guess I shouldn’t have been watching porn. Oooh, I get it…she just slipped me a note. Gotta jump, becoming a Platinum member of the Mile-High Club in a bit. Thank you Norm Weiner and WXRT for having us. Happy Birthday to Jason and Heather, we love you both dearly and look forward to our return to your beautiful city.

Is there something in the water here? How do our shows manage to raise the bar for all other shows with each visit to Nap town? How is it that we consistently meet great fans and fun people here? I have some answers: we have the amazing support of Brad Holtz and everyone at WTTS, our friend Bennett Ackerman runs a delicious wine bar called D’Vine, where we love to visit for fine wine and sing karaoke to Eleanor. On top of all that we have great friends here like Scott Sands, Rich Baker, and the lovely white antelope Indian Princess, Rima. Even Tiffany from the Chi-Town Millionettes made it out tonight. WTTS and Low Millions put on a hell of a show at the Music Mill. Darling Nikki made an appearance, along with Jane, Julia, and Jimi? Nah, my back was itchy during Nikki, that’s why I was on the floor. Being on the road for so long away from home can be rough, but there’s always something about Indy that makes it that much easier. Thank you Brad and Emily from WTTS, and thank you Indianapolis fans and friends for making us feel so welcome. See you in September Mr. Sands!

P.S. Check out the video from our afterparty at D'Vine. It's Low Millions and friends featuring Jason Greenberg on lead vocal doing karaoke to Eleanor!
