some lyrics for new songs (you can check these out in the videos section)
***********************
Capitalist Optimist
no matter how hard you try if the worlds are colliding no one cares. you must be high as a kite I think you're making a mountain out of a mouse
no more clichés
so come bail me out just this time, come bail me out didn't think I'd live to be so old to have these problems follow me home.
no matter how loud they cry it's real hard to hear when heads are in the sand. think less, don't be afraid all those optimistic notions have left me
I'm in trouble
so come bail me out just this time, come bail me out didn't think I'd live to be so old to have these problems follow me home.
*********************
New song (turn around)
wait for me I am coming home, to write some more about everything that's wrong. and tell me how can I look up with all these things I've heard weigh on my back.
the hope for tomorrow is an epistemic trap
I'm starting to see it and its turning me around its turning me around
so I'm keeping clean with enemy machines that were meant to keep me home. and I, I can feel it come, charging like a tiger from behind rising like a river to swallow, swallow me whole.
the hope for tomorrow is an epistemic trap
I'm starting to see it and its turning me around now I'm turning back so easy to pretend that I forgot.

since nobody (including myself) understands anything i try to sing.. here we go. all lyrics by adam basanta and spladam bladanta
****************************
the Hidden
it's hard to be a rock star with no big cigars hanging limp from your mouth whispering that you are the man who makes us eat our disappointments tonight.
rest your head down.
and here come the triumphant here they come running right through our town feeding voices they amplify and makes listen to our voice in doubt.
they say "come, you seem nice and tired out rest your head down you tried"
****************************
Heads roll
heads roll crack under pressure when you're running temples pressing on your mind leave what you're running from behind
treasures they will take away your problems go on and keep 'em in your mouth stick 'em underneath your tongue
save what you can, don't wake my don't wake my head.
don't let them change you don't let them medicate your mind twelve thieves and lawyers they're talking all at once
save what you can, don't wake my don't wake my head.
help us out, we're under siege tonight help us in love, in silence.
****************************
the Rope and the Hand
Miss me, on late nights Miss me, nevermind Never good to feel right. Simple, I will love That simple kind of life All else memory. Now teach me to give some Lend me to everyone. I've nothing more to say.
The execution, is going fine. The execution, my my.
End years, end fun Long time, no different More cheeks to slap them. Pretensions, your self worth Take them, feed the wolves Turn around, face down. No let me bend some, Ill bend for everyone. I've nothing more to say.
The execution, is going fine. The execution, my my.
Fight not, recede I must I smell dirt, I smell trust Bury quick in new sand. I will rise a new man, I will rise a new man, What more could you ask for now. Don't show me to everyone, Don't show me to anyone, I've nothing more to say.
The execution, is going fine. The execution, my my.
****************************
Stay NIght
In hands Transparent as light We trust all our fights. And the motion The spinning in flight The circular lies Are saving me from shipwreck.
Changing skies Stay night Stay dark Stay true.
What you left behind The suits and the ties They hang and they dry. Anonymous fear He calls in the ear In the corners we sit And guard precious observations.
Changing skies Stay night Stay dark Stay true.
****************************
Illusion Guilt
ask me how you disappear into the clouds With no sound, and if you try you can cut your life with glass you find you can be fine.
maybe now mama make me face the lie, will you be there my friend?
thinking now it's funny how the time goes by, soon we die. in daddy's mind these things just make us strong inside, so sad.
maybe now mama ties me up inside will you be there my friend?
something called illusion guilt is keeping me up at night.
what I cut, now I'm wishing is alive guess we'll see if I find you one time. maybe try looking back without my eyes and see will you be there my friend?
****************************
Circles
dead boats buried in my chest circles that round don't listen to sense jump up down, these walls will always rise. dear god the cynics come tonight and I will be there peaking through holes and waiting for praise these sheep are golden calves disguised. but I see concepts in the sky ideals they whisper take their money, take their money run.
it's necessary to be far away don't let them find you don't let them get you I wont let them.
it's necessary to be far away necessary, goddamn see it my way. take time to see things clear (the time, the tears, the wine, the fears.) more time never make it right you'll lose your life you'll lose guide. it's necessary to be far away necessary, goddamn see it my way. I want them all with me (the lion, the fish, the wolf, the sheep) let them take me away…
let me out of this I starve, I starve, I starve in the peace. let me out of this, release me now its time to feed. and there's no meaning in the sky I wonder how long ago it died without your head it has no life.
****************************
Living in trees
no time for waiting, not tonight we are walking with the animals in circles and lines that lead nowhere, They're taking us back home.
oh Happiness lives in a tree we cant reach. it's smiling down, it can smell us trying, it's says "pipe down, and sell yourself to the wheel". oh Happiness lives in a tree.
twenty years seem shorter than they mean, we've listened on and on and we all know the lies we've swallowed whole now we're pretending for the children.
oh Happiness lives in a tree we cant reach. it's smiling down, it can smell us trying, it's says "pipe down, and sell yourself to the wheel". oh Happiness lives in a tree.
****************************
Faceless Salute for the Imperial Guard
On bending tracks We're waiting for the mothership. The eyes we fix above Don't build solution.
We will be skeletons.
Empires.. Colossus..
This is a life force Its shrinking our hearts and minds. We cant, we cant see past our toes We don't build solutions.
Empires.. Colossus..
We will be skeletons.
This is a life force Its shrinking our hearts and minds. We cant, we cant see past our toes We don't build solutions.
****************************
They come tonight
Guest star shining Burned out yesterday I wont lose my way I wont lose my way. Whispered sad notes lullaby like rain I wont lose my way I wont lose my way.
There they come All tonight There they come Step around Miss you, step around Miss you.
Great uncertain Breathing down my neck I wont lose my way I wont lose my way. Fears that loved me Are coming back to stay I wont lose my way I wont lose my way.
There they come All tonight There they come Step around Miss you, step around Miss you.

Make The Lion s/t Independent There's still a lot of life left in the world of post-Radiohead prog-psychedelia, as the debut album from Make the Lion makes clear. Adam Basanta's haunting murmur of a voice (imagine Thom Yorke guesting in Echo & the Bunnymen) floats above the dreamy textures of his guitar work, which is only about halfeffective; it's almost impossible to tell what he's singing about, but the melancholy mood of the record as a whole points towards a dour, almost retro-British world of gloom, disappointment, and defeat. Smokestack soot smeared on chipped brick walls and all that. Which is not to say that Make the Lion writes bad songs – quite the opposite, to be sure. Basanta's inventive and interesting trio is rounded out by the melodic chops of bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Cole Birney- Stewart and the skilled trapsmanship of Andy Hodgson. This is definitely intelligent rock for the thinking soul, and shows great promise of things to come from one of Vancouver's more impressive young bands. - Ferdy Belland

well this is my first "blogging" (should i use qoutation marks there? does everybody know what "blogging" is? fuksh..t.) experience.. there is now no stopping my random sharings, one might say offerings, to the world. thank god just when i most needed a tool to solidfy my egocentricity..
well. there is a reason for this blog.
we have officially changed our band name from "AVATAR" to "MAKE THE LION"/
before the riots start, let me offer an explanation:
(hopefully this makes sense and everybody is appeased)
1) Avatar was kinda lame and was picked because our hashed minds could think of nothing else one week before our first show.
2) doesnt it sound like Avatar would play some sort of prog-metal-dark-hard-rock ish stuff? (not that there is anything wrong with that.)
3) there are so many Avatar bands out there.. its rediculous.
4) Make the Lion sounds cool i think.,
5) i like the logo too.
6) Make the Lion was inspired by the allen ginsberg poem "making the lion for all it's got". check it.
7) i think we seem a lot more intellectual now ya know naming our band after yaknow a poem yaknow. deep.
annyway. thats all for now,
i wonder if anybody actually reads these blogs on myspace, or is it just a venting tool?
i mean im just desperatly trying to justify a band name change, i just wanna fuckin belong yaknow?!!
peace
