I despise time changes!  Ugh!  And Bush had to move Daylight Savings time up by 3 weeks?  I tell ya, Arizona has it's act together... they keep their time the same year-round and ignore the dictates of the government on that!  Yah!!!

That said, as I'm drinking my coffee and reflecting on time, I'm looking forward to Spring and Summer.  More sun, more time outside, and time for getting my gardens back into shape again (as well as myself).  I love the flowers!  Not a winter person at all!

We've been busy with home improvements lately.  Scott's been taking his time to do a great job tiling our shower, and now the grouting is done!  Once that's sealed and the shower door installed, we begin tiling the bathroom floor.  He's been doing a fantastic job, and now that he has that wet-saw, I'm going to have to put granite tile counters on his honey-do list!  Lol!

I'm off to enjoy this sunny day we're having!

Myspace Thanksgiving Day Graphics

Whew! Has it ever been a busy day! Been doing a zillion things to get ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow. We're planning on 11 people being here, and I've been doing the super-cleaning one does before you have that many people over! Lol! Our dogs know something's up, since they couldn't come in the house today. Shiloh's collie fur gets everywhere... rolls and rolls of it just blows across the floor!

Fortunately, the weather has been good! Should make for a nice day tomorrow. Once Thanksgiving is over, the rains can come... we sure need them, as it's been a relatively dry November. Friday, you'll be able to find me zonked out, nappin', on the computer, watching TV, or eating leftovers, but no work for me!!

A Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone! Enjoy your T-Day with your friends and family!

Hugs!
Linda

Dang it... up late again! Don't know why some nights, I just feel energized. I'm not a caffeine drinker! It looks like I haven't touched my blog lately. Time to update!

Here in Northern CA, we recently had monster electrical storms that have started over 1,200 fires in our state! Only 266 of them are under control, and there is not enough resources. I sure hate seeing our beautiful woodlands and forests burning!! All day long, the sky's been a smoky orange color, and we've heard that several highways are now closed. What's worse is that another electrical storm is due in tomorrow! I can't even comprehend that!

Summer has been quiet for us so far. Scott's off from teaching for the summer, and little home improvement projects are being planned. I spend quite a bit of time gardening. We do get out for daily runs to the beach and the nearby parks with our dogs. The picture I shot above was taken at Centerville Beach just west of Ferndale. I was amazed during this visit there to find that Spring storms had carved away a hefty part of the beach and much of the sand dunes... never happened before to that extent! But then again, I realize that a human life is just a blink in time. I love the beach and watching the pelican patrol cruise the waves and the sea lions' heads bobbing in and out of the water! The ocean is my Zen!

It's been awhile since I made an entry in my blog... been sooooo busy! Besides my TL duties at the Heart-N-Soul Competiton, I've been learning digital photography and going on more photo shoots! Our recent one was to the seaside village of Trinidad where we explored some northcoast beaches on a day where the waves were huge! Below is a shot I took while we were there!

I am also planning to teach part-time as a substitute teacher even though I'm retired. It will get me out of the house a little more and bring in a bit more money. Between that and my photography, I should be a busy gal!

Myspace Graphics - Happy 4th of July

As true to form every year, we were socked in with the pea soup fog all day for the 4th of July. After 6 straight days of gorgeous sunshine and clear skies, the fog blanket creeped back in while we slept last night. I Googled our weather map and saw that this fogbank hung only over us! It figures... still the fireworks went off at our local neighborhood park and streets, and we went outside to enjoy them. We're fortunate in that living in a coastal zone, the fire danger is rather low. Many areas don't allow the fireworks now.

It doesn't happen too much anymore, but tonight I felt the stabs of empty nest syndrome as the kids laughed with glee at the fireworks. My sons used to go nuts on the 4th with our Blockbuster sets of Red Devil fireworks!!! Those were some fun times!

Hey, I hope all my friends had a great holiday today!

Whew! Am I ever wiped out! We're getting ready for our collie's first dog show ever, and we just finished his big bath & grooming ritual. It will be a rather nice way to spend my birthday tomorrow... surrounded by 450 beautiful dogs! I never thought that I'd be showing dogs, but once retired, this seemed like a fun thing to do. Shiloh's just a year old pup, so this show will just be for practice. We'll probably show our golden retriever in the next show too, but this one she'll be sitting out. They still have so much to learn about being in the ring!

Summer is a wonderful time on the north coast of California! The air is lovely and the sunsets beautiful! I'm sitting hear looking out the window at the most incredible firey sunset with the window open and some great music on the radio. Thanking God here that it isn't Winter! :o)

Wow! What a hot day it was yesterday for us! 89 degrees in our little Pacific northwest town is highly unusual! Global Warming? This happened the year before last... lots of weather in the 80's for us. As it was explained to me. The Earth's atmospheric weather breathes in and out, so to say. And in the pattern of Global Warming, it heats up and there are more hurricanes, etc. one year, then cools down a bit the next. This year it's warming up again early! I hope the hurricanes don't hit again though! Hurricane Katrina was such a horrible disaster... and they still haven't recovered!

I'm heading down to L.A. tomorrow for some even warmer weather! Love it! Looking forward to seeing family and friends! It's been too long! I can't believe my little sis is getting her black belt in karate! I've got to be there for that! Not to mention, a long overdue Mother's Day actually spent with my Mom! It's been, well, over 15 years now! I've got to go spoil her! :o) I'll be back on the 20th. Have a great Spring!

I'm thanking God here that the earth is turning toward the warmer months of the year again! Isn't it nice to wake up to sunshine again and see that everything's aflower? :o)

Presently, Scott & I are getting ready for our annual trip to Sedona, Arizona to visit his dad. His home is right up against the red rock hills, and around him lies the most wonderful landscapes to go hiking in! We plan to hike Oak Creek Canyon and some trails that take you to see the ancient pictographs left by early American Indians. There are also the world reknown vortexes of mysterious energies that are fun to visit! I promise to come back with piccies for you!

I'm leaving you with a couple of photos of the Sedona area!

The rains have given us a reprieve here on the north coast, and we are blessed with beautiful sunshine! I've begun cleaning up the flower beds of dead growth and pruning back the rose bushes. Getting ready for Spring helps me get through the Winter months... helps me imagine what the flowers will look and smell like. There's lots to get done, but I'm learning to pace myself so as not to make my efforts feel too much like "work!" I will wander out into the rose garden again today for some pruning.

Has anyone ever visited the Portland Rose Garden in Washington Park? It's a sight to behold in the summer months and a place to go visit if you're in the area! Here's three good links to learn about it:

Washington Park
Portland's Rose Gardens
International Rosse Test Garden

I guess I'm nuts about roses, and I have 27 bushes: teas, climbers, miniatures, burbons, and old English varietes. I'd have more, but my yards aren't big enough! ;o)
