Not a whole lot of must see games this week folks. But still we will watch every minute of every game we can righ. Let's go.

Atlanta @ Carolina

Maybe in a year or two this will be a premier NFC South matchup. It'll be good for Panthers fans to see Steve Smith back on the outside going against that no-name Falcons secondary. Rookie Matt Ryan should find comfort in the fact that the Panthers still haven't found their pass rush but Chris Gamble has a pick in every game so far. Still, it should be a tough game for the Dirty Birds on the road

Panthers Win

Cleveland @ Cincinnati

What the hell happened to these two teams? If you know me then you know I didn't believe in Derek Anderson as an elite quarterback. So far he's proving me right. We'll see if the banged up Bengals O-line can keep Carson Palmer upright against a Willie Mcginest and Shaun Rogersless Browns. Romeo Crennel has been giving Brady Quinn more reps with the first team in practice so we just may see him in action this week. Jamal Lewis and Kellen Winslow will have solid games today but I don't think it'll be enough. Whichever offense gets off first will definitely have the advantage.

Somebody's gotta win...I'll go with the Bengals.

Houston @ Jacksonville

Okay, fellow ECU alumni (actually...I don't think he graduated) David Garrard has thrown more pics in the first three weeks this year than he did all of last year. Not good D.G. Houston's rookie, Steve Slaton was given the nod after a great game last week. Good luck going between the tackles with big John Henderson in the middle of that Jaguars defensive line. It's okay, Slaton has another former Pirate, Vonta Leach lead blocking ;). Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew are my favorite running back tandem in the league and I think they'll have another big game this week.

Jags win big at home.

Denver @ Kansas City
The Chiefs stink. I feel bad for Herm Edwards.

Broncos win.

San Francisco @ New Orleans

I promise I try to stay as objective as possible but dammit, my 49ers have an offense now! The Saints are without Jeremy Shockey and Marques Colston so our veteran secondary (who is quite good if I do say so myself) shouldn't have too many problems. The key to this game will be getting pressure on Drew Brees. Homey doesn't get sacked too often and is one of the most accurate passers in the game but their offensive line is hurting a bit from injuries and the suspension of guard, Jamar Nesbit. If the 49ers O-line can do a good job of protecting J.T. O'Sullivan, we should have a good game. The Saints focus will definitely be Frank Gore but if we can establish the pass it will open up some things for Gore on the ground and in the air as well.

I gotta go with my fandom. 49ers for the win.

Arizona @ New York Jets

Brett Favre is the Terminator of quarterbacks. He absolutely will not stop ever. It'll be interesting to see how quickly Favre learns the Jets playbook and how comfortable he gets with his receivers as the year progresses. Last week was not a good week for Favruh. The Cards have a solid team and one of the best receiving corps in all of football. Damn, both of these quarterbacks are old as shit. I still think it's going to take a few games before Favre can take command of this offense like we know he can. Here's a hint: You have a guy named Coles; he's pretty good.

Cards win on the road.

Green Bay @ Tampa Bay

Ah, the battle of the Bay. Brian Griese threw about 400 passes last week for a whole lot of yards....but still threw three interceptions. Aaron Rodgers is going in week in and week out proving that he is who Ted Thompson thought he was. However the Pack have stunk it up when it comes to their rushing defense. I think Jon Gruden is gonna try to keep this game on the ground with Earnest Graham and take advantage of the Packers flimsy front seven. I'd also like to see if Ryan Grant can get off in this game. I think he's yet to have a 100 yard rushing game. The Bucs have always had a great defense and Rodgers has some pretty good weapons to use so this may be the best game of the week.

I'll take the Packers.

Minnesota @ Tennessee

Okay, I talked a lotta trash about Gus Frerotte starting for the Vikes but he got the win. But I will say this now. He will struggle ferociously against the Titans aggressive defense. Hey, whattya know, another East Carolina University Pirate, Chris Johnson is in the backfield with a very solid Lendale White for the Titans. On the other team is all-world running back, Adrian Peterson who will pretty much have to carry this team on his back if they want a shot at winning. Neither of these quarterbacks are spring chickens but I'll take my chances with Kerry Collins over Gus Frerotte.

Titans win at home.

San Diego @ Oakland

Congratulations Ian on signing with the Chargers! Do I even have to say anything?

Chargers win.

Buffalo @ St. Louis

Marshawn Lynch is a beast while Stephen Jackson...needs to find a new team. Lets just hope Trent Green doesn't die out there on the field.

Bills go 4-0 (hello playoffs?)

Washington @ Dallas

I'm really loving the NFC East this year. And as much as I hate the Cowboys, I can't deny the fact that they are the best team in the league right now...by far. The Cowboys have so many weapons on the outside and a good young running back behind Marion Barber in Felix Jones. The Skins have been looking really good with their pass defense this year but it's going to be hard containing T.O., Patrick Crayton (if he can hold on to a ball), and Jason Witten. Jason Campbell has some good weapons of his own in Santana Moss, Chris Cooley, Antwan Randal El and Clinton Portis. I really think anyone can beat anyone in this division but I don't see the 'Boys taking the L at home

Cowboys win.

Philadelphia @ Chicago

Donovan Mcnabb AND Brian Westbrook are banged up. They'll both probably play but still, if you're an Eagles fan you've gotta have some level of concern. I think the Eagles D will keep them in this even if Mcnabb and Westbrook aren't at 100 percent. Matt Forte leads all rookies in rushing yards but Philly's too good defensively to let this game slip.

Eagles for the W.

Baltimore @ Pittsburgh

Someone frisk Bart Scott before the game. He just might try to 187 Hines Ward for that hellacious block he put on the linebacker last year. I'm a fan of both of these teams but Pittsburgh's offensive line uncharacteristically allowed a whole lot of sacks and hurried throws last week. The Steelers are also without their running back, fast Willie Parker so we'll see rookie, Rashard Mendenhall starting at tailback. Joe Flacco has gone 2-0 so far this season but I am not a believer in rookie quarterbacks.

Steelers win at home on Monday night...like they always do.

ESPN needs to holla at the boy.

Okay y'all. I'm gonna try to make this a weekly thing. Last time I did that shit until the wee hours of the morning. Tonight I'm trying to have this done by the time TNA comes on.

Kansas City @ Atlanta
I think every game the Chiefs play should be analyzed with two words: who cares. KC has named Tyler Thigpen (who???) their starting quarterback and that just says one thing to me...Herm Edwards may be unemployed next season. I'll say it again, Larry Johnson is done. Atlanta will have a great day pressuring that offense with John Abraham on the end. Expect a heavy dose of Michael Turner.

Falcons win.

Oakland @ Buffalo
The Bills are a solid team. Trent Edwards (correction from last weeks joint) is doing a solid job at QB but he'll be tested with the Raiders cornerbacks in coverage. Justin Fargas is a no go for the game so we'll be seeing a lot of Darren McFadden and that can only be a good thing. Not enough to beat the Bills though.

Bills win

Tampa Bay @ Chicago
Chicago has been surprisingly not terrible so far this year and Kyle Orton has been looking somewhat poised. I'm not a fan of Chucky going with Brian Griese over Jeff Garcia because when the play breaks down there's not too many people better at getting something out of nothing than Mr. Garcia. This one could go either way I feel but despite a sore hamstring, I think Derrick Brooks and the Bucs will have enough to slow down rookie, Matt Forte and the Bears.

Buccaneers win on the road.

Carolina @ Minnesota
Okay, Tavaris Jackson was fucking up....but for real? Gus Frerotte?

Panthers Win.

Miami @ New England
Okay, Matt Cassell can manage a game. Of course, that isn't hard to do with Randy Moss and Wes Welker on the ends. Joey Porter doesn't seem to believe in the Patriots back up and I admire his enthusiasm. The Dolphins are better than last year, but not by much.

Patriots win.

Cincinnati @ New York Giants
Dammit Carson Palmer!!! Get it together man. Y'all are 0-2 and are going to the Meadowlands to face the defending champs. Not a good look. I look for the Bengals offense to get it together this weekend but that defense is going to have its hands full with Eli and that monster they have in the backfield named Brandon Jacobs. Marvin Lewis may end up unemployed by the end of the season too.

Giants win.

Houston @ Tennessee
Ya playin yaself (c) Jeru Da Damaja. Tennessee is playing pretty damn good football right now and well, Houston isn't. The only Texan who decides to come to work on Sunday has been Mario Williams. Houston may be playing with a lot of emotion with the recent hurricane damage but I predict a lot of sacks for this Titan defense.

Titans win.

Arizona @ Washington
The Cards are 2-0 but really, this will be there biggest test to date since they've faced my 49ers in week one and the 'Fins in week 2. Still I think the Cardinals are a solid team with some great receivers and the number one rated QB so far in Kurt Warner. I'm still and Edgerrin James fan and he can still get it done despite his age. I really like the Redskins too, especially since they play in one of the toughest divisions in the NFC if not the entire league. The Arizona Cardinals have not started a season 3-0 since 1974 when they were the St. Louis Cardinals so it's hard for me to go against history. I think Clinton Portis will have an good game as usual.

Redskins for the win

New Orleans @ Denver
Is Jay Cutler really this good? This should really be two 1-1 teams lining up @ Mile High Stadium but we won't get into that. Little Darren Sproles shredded the Broncos D last week and hopefully for the Saints, Reggie Bush can do the same. The Saints have some injuries in the defensive backfield and with the linebackers so that's not going to be good for them. Brandon Marshall looked mighty impressive and helped Jay Cutler league the lead in passing yards...of course, that's a lot easier when your starting running back has only 15 carries so far.

Broncos win @ Mile High

Detroit @ San Francisco
This is a game my boys should win. But we are without our nickle corner, Shawntae Spencer and the Lions have another one of the best receiving corps in the league. The Lions also recently signed Rudi Johnson to give them some kind of a running attack along with rookie Kevin Smith. Frank Gore had a shitty game last week fumbling the ball and only gaining 60 something yards so I look for him to bounce back against a pretty weak Lions D. Ernie Sims and Brian Kelly are going to pretty much have to do it all from the linebacker position and the cornerback position respectively. The 9ers right tackle, Jonas Jennings is out but he's backed up with veteran tackle Barry Sims who will need to offer SOME KIND of damn protection for JT O'Sullivan. This is a toss up, especially since both teams have a lot of work to do.

Gotta go with my boys. 49ers for the W.

St. Louis @ Seattle
The Rams continue to disappoint despite having what looks like a solid team. Mike Holmgren went shopping and picked up some good receivers in Keary Colbert and Koren Robinson. The Rams cannot protect the quarterback and can't seem to open up holes for Stephen Jackson. Seattle will put a hurting on Bulger with that lightning fast defense.

Seahawks win big.

Cleveland @ Baltimore
I love these mirror matches. The Browns defense has been raped by injuries but they are facing rookie quarterback Joe Flacco. Speaking of the quarterback position...umm...what the fuck happened to Derek Anderson? I never jumped on the bandwagon last year because I have to see a lil more before I start singing the praises of a qb I've never heard of. Not saying last year was a fluke but he needs to figure out something quick. The Ravens still have one of the best defenses if you ask me, but they're not getting any younger. When was the last time we heard from Ray Lewis and the boys...really?

I like the Browns against their former selves.

Jacksonville @ Indianapolis
Why are these teams not 2-0? Both of these teams, who normally have outstanding offensive lines are hurting majorly in that area. Peyton will be on the ground a lot and Peyton doesn't like that. Garrard is more mobile than Peyton and will be able to buy more time when that pocket collapses. The big red flag in this game is the injury to Bob Sanders. The Colts are a whole 'nother team without bullet Bob. I think the Colts are the better team and it's not like they didn't go to the Super Bowl with Sanders missing all but four games that year....BUT...I'm gonna go out on a limb and give the Jags their first win on the road in the RCA dome

Jaguars win.

Pittsburgh @ Philadephia
This should be another great game. Big Ben is coming off a shoulder injury (or not? I dunno, just tell Mike Tomlin I said it.) *this is where a youtube video of Coach Tomlin saying "Who said his shoulder was dislocated? If you find who said that bring him to me!" but I couldn't find it. Womp Womp*
However, Rothlisberger being the tough guy that he is, he'll be suiting up. Donovan had a pretty damn good game Monday against the Cowboys but couldn't finish the job. I look for an equally spirited, but lower scoring repeat of earlier of the week. Brian Dawkins had a tough night Monday against Jason Witten so I'll be looking to see how he does against Heath Miller and Santonio Holmes. I'm a fan of both of these teams and they both have X-factors who can make or break this game. For the Steelers its Mr. Everywhere: Safety, Troy Polamalu and Eagles running back, Brian Westbrook.

I gotta go with the Steel Curtain on this, Steelers win on the road.

Dallas @ Green Bay
As much as it pains me to say this, the Dallas punk ass Cowboys are the best team in the NFC. I think we're all (especially Zlrmn) pleasantly surprised to see Aaron Rodgers doing so well. However he'll need to step it up since Ryan Grant didn't have that good of a game last week. More interesting to me is the Charles Woodson/Terrell Owens matchup. Woodson is an excellent cornerback but he is going to be playing with some bad wheels. Owens recently moved up to number two all time in touchdown receptions behind Jerry Rice. Who knew??
Dallas just has too many weapons.

Cowboys win in the not-yet-frozen-tundra.

New York Jets @ San Diego
Dammit Chargers!!! Y'all been fucking up and I'm tired of it. Darren Sproles simply went off last week and I dunno if the Jets have the man power to prevent it from happening again. Historically, Brett Favre is Mr. Monday Night and he has put the pressure on the team by calling it a "must win." We haven't had much of a Brett Favre to Laverneus Coles connection but he can't continue to go without utilizing their most talented receiver. That being said, the Chargers have to wake up sometime soon. What better place to do that than your own yard.

Chargers win.

Well folks, there you have it. The NFL gospel according to Mallz.

My ace boon, Zlr suggested I make a sports blog and since he's the second smartest nigga on Urf (behind Batman/Dr. Venture, depending on who you ask) I agreed. I am a sports fan but I don't fuck with too many sports outside of football and basketball. Baseball is just boring to me, even the fans (all 300 of them) in the stands fall asleep at the games.

So for my first O-fficial sports blog, I'll just rap with you about the NFL (trust me, I'll talk about ECU soon). Week one is in the books and there were a few upsets that I woulda never called (word to the Chicago Bears) so I'll have to start with week two. Before I get into the matchups lemme just throw my .02 in about some of the headlines of the NFL.

Vince Young takes a walk:
Vince, fam, I get it. You were THAT nigga at Texas and you were THAT nigga in high school but this is the next level homey. Suck that shit up and do what you do. You're in your third year and there's a learning curve that you gotta get through. Odds are you're not going to beast out like you did in college in your first few years. Vince has said that his love for the game hasn't faltered and the media have blown this shit outta proportion (imagine that!!) and I believe him. However we have to realize that even though these dudes are making millions of dollars by entertaining us with their athleticism, they're people too. The nigga was fucked up over spraining his MCL after throwing 2 picks last week and Mom dukes spazzed cause he went out for a walk and didn't bring his cell. I think Vince is going to be alright, he just needs some more guys to throw to.

Jessica Simpson trash talking:
"If you so bad, put a jersey on!" (c) Warren Sapp.

Aigh, here's my breakdown of week two. As Mallz sees it.

Chicago @ Carolina: Chicago is coming off a big upset win over Indy and the Panthers are coming off a great game against the Chargers. I got both of those games wrong last week. I like the Panthers (even tho as a die hard 49ers fan I really shouldn't) and they played one hell of a game without their best offensive weapon. I expect more of the same, Mushin Muhammad (who apparently refuses to play for any other team than these two) is still a very solid receiver and Dante Rosario had a great game last week. Chicago's rookie running back Matt Forte looked very good against the Colts but I expect him to be held under 100 yards against this veteran Panthers D. I do not and will not believe in Kyle Orton nor do I believe in Devin Hester as a number one receiver. Both teams have great defenses but I think the Bears just don't have the offensive firepower to make it to 2-0.
Panthers win.

Tennessee @ Cincinnatti: Vince Young won't be playing because of a sprained MCL but Kerry Collins is a decent game manager who can NOT-LOSE a game for you. Tennessee has a great thunder and lightening duo in the backfield with Lendale White and former Pirate Chris Johnson while the Bengals' Chris Perry doesn't seem to be the same caliber as a feature back as Rudi Johnson was. I've always liked the Titans defense, more specifically, their front seven but I can't see the Bengals going 0-2 to start the year off.
Mr. Ocho Cinco will redeem himself against Courtland Finnegan.
Bengals win

Green Bay @ Detroit
Hmmm...Packers and Lions....
Packers win.

Buffalo @ Jacksonville
ECU all up in this muh fucka. The Bills are one of those interesting teams who, on paper, they have solid players but for some reason it never translates on the field (word to the Washington Redskins). I love Marshawn Lynch and that running attack but J.P. Losman needs to curtail the interceptions if they want to have a chance against a scary good Jaguars team that took an unexpected L last week. Look for Jerry Porter to make his debut for Jacksonville and DG will redeem himself for having nearly more interceptions thrown last week than all of last year. Jacksonville's front seven will make it difficult for Lynch to get his yards. John Henderson is a monster at DT. Buffalo anted up their D-line by adding former Jaguar Marcus Stroud who'll be plugging up holes but the Taylor/Jones-Drew running attack will wear them down.
Jaguars pull out the dub.

Oakland @ Kansas City
Who cares? Nah, I kid (kinda). Both teams are seemingly in a perpetual state of rebuilding. Oakland does have something to be excited about with Darren Mcfadden in the backfield with Justin Fargas and the Raiders also seem to have one of the best defensive secondaries in the league...it appears that way at least. Deangelo Hall is doing all he can to prove that he is NOT a shut-down corner but he'll be fine against second year man, Dwayne Bowe. Zilla asked how I felt about Larry Johnson and I honestly think he's pretty much done. He's had to take too many carries over his career to be the same back he was 3 years ago.
I'm gonna flip a coin and pick the Raiders to win

Indianapolis @ Minnesota
...do I really need to break this down?
Colts win.

New York @ St. Louis
Ahhh the clusterfuck that is the NFC West. The Rams have a pretty decent team and I see nothing but good things for Stephen Jackson. The Giants' defensive line is in shambles so I think the Rams will have a great day on the ground, however I do believe they'll still have an excellent pass rush. Marc Bulger did not look like a former Pro Bowler last week against the Eagles. The Giants may have the deepest runningback core in the NFL with Jacobs, Ward, Bradshaw and Droughns. Look for Brandon Jacobs to demolish someone.
Giants win.

New Orleans @ Washington
Battle of the underacheivers. With Colston out the Saints are going to have to rely more heavily on Jeremy Shockey and Reggie Bush in the passing game. While the Skins are gonna have to pull Jim Zorn to the side and tell him to get his shit together and call some good plays. I still think Jason Campbell will be a fine QB in this league, especially with Antwan Randle El and Santana Moss. Clinton Portis will get his yards and there's little anyone can do about that. I'm not sure if Jason Taylor has the go or not due to a knee injury but I think he will be a big factor in this game one way or another.
This one is a toss up but I'm going with the Redskins at home for the win.

San Francisco @ Seattle
I will call this one right down the middle. I do not believe in J.T. O'Sullivan. Sure he completed 70 percent of his passes last week against the Cards but he also threw picks and fumbled the ball. The Seahawks love to blitz and with Julian Peterson and one of the two best middlelinebackers (guess who I think the other one is) in the league, Lofa Tatupu, the 9ers will need to get the ball out quickly if they want a shot at winning this one. I love the 9ers D. On paper they look great: Justin Smith, Nate Clements, Michael Lewis, Takeo Spikes and the other best middle linebacker in the league, Patrick Willis. Hopefully they can pressure Matt Hasselbeck into making some mistakes that we can capitalize off of. With Nate Burleson on the shelf for the season and Deion Branch and Bobby Engram out the Seahawks are going to have to win this on the ground and with their defense.
I gotta take my boys, 49ers win.

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay
Jeff Garcia basically lost his starting job and the Falcons have a highly heralded rookie quarterback. The Bucs' defense is still scary with Cato June and Derrick Brooks roaming the field. Warrick Dunn is a Buccaneer again and will do a solid job backing up Ernest Graham. Look for John Abraham to continue to wreak havoc on the QB with a less than mobile Brian Griese under center.
Buccaneers win.

Miami @ Arizona
...shit....Cardinals win lol.

San Diego @ Denver
Shawne Merriman made a good decision in having that season ending surgery. This will be a huge blow to that Charger defense but as long as LT, Phillip Rivers and Antonio Gates are healthy the Bolts will be fine. Don't sleep on the Broncos defense tho
Chargers win

New England @ New York
Rut roh, no Tom Brady. Let's see if Belichick is truly a genius. Sure you can have defensive backs playing line backer and wide receivers lining up at cornerback but the quarterback position is a whole different monkey. The Jets acquired Kris Jenkins who will look to make Matt Cassel as uncomfortable as possible with that rush up the gut and the Pats will have to rely more on Sammy Morris and Mr. Legalize it, Kevin Faulk. We love Brett Fav-ruh and it's hard to bet against him...
So I won't, Jets with the upset (kinda).

Pittsburgh @ Cleveland
Old ass Jamal Lewis can still rack up a buncha yards and if Donte Stallworth plays then that will make Derek Anderson's day a little better. Pittsburgh is one of the top 5 teams in the league and I think they will handle business against their arch rival
Steelers win

Philadelphia @ Dallas
With the acquisition of Asante Samuel, the Eagles have another one of the best looking secondaries in the NFL but their front seven will be punished by Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Donovan Mcnabb had an excellent game last week but look for Demarcus Ware to put some pressure on a slower Mcnabb from the outside. This will be a good game but if Jessica Simpson says they'll win then dammit, I say they'll win
Cowboys with the W.

Monday night: Baltimore @ Houston
The Texans stink.
Baltimore wins.

I never been through writer's block. At least, I've never NOT been able to write when I wanted to. There have been times where I can write all day long but I just don't like anything that I'm writing but I've never been "blocked."

But...I think that may be what I'm going through right now. Between moving in the new abode and all the stress that came along with that and my punk ass job that I'm || that close from walking the hell out on, a nigga just hasn't been feeling it. Don't get me wrong tho, it's not a call for alarm if I go a couple of weeks without writing. Sometimes you need to just step back from shit to keep shit fresh ya' dig? But it's been over a month now and it's driving me up the damn wall fam.

Now it's not that I can't write. It's more along the lines of I haven't written in a long time now everything I'm writing is garb. Could it be the perfectionist in me is making all this up and I'm just scrapping dope verses? I dunno, but I do know that the madness gotta stop soon. So instead of entertaining (or boring) yall any further, I'm gonna get crackin on this rappin.

Don't call it a comeback...(c) James Todd Smith

Good Eebnin' folks. Your boy Mallz has been on hiatus for a minute, getting life shit in order y'know. I moved into my apartment over a month ago and the bullshit started. The apartment is nice, small...VERY small but nice nonetheless. This go-round I had a lot of help so the actual moving process wasn't so stressful. The stress came once everything was moved in and it was time to survey the apartment.

You know how they give you the checklist to run through of all things that need to be fixed when you move in so they can handle those things (and ensure that you don't fuck anything up when you leave). So Mallz, trying to be the good tenant goes through and checks off the issues with the apartment. 1: The hot water in the shower only lasts 8 minutes max. 2: The tub doesn't drain well. 3: There are wet spots on the carpet in the closet and 4: A burner on the stovetop is loose.

Cool. I turn the checklist in, get my mailbox key and patiently await the arrival of Mr. Repairman. Two days later, no Mr. Repairman. So I ask The Wiz to go holla at the landlord while I'm at work about getting some repairs done, especially to the shower. A few days later Mr. Repairman comes and tightens up the stovetop and looks at the shower and tells us that we're not pushing the lever down hard enough on the drain and he has no idea why the hot water's not lasting. Two fingers, he's out.

Thanks?

So The Wiz goes back a few days later and asks Ms. Landlord to send someone out again. Ms. Landlord writes it on a Post It and shoves it to the side. Several days later...nothing. So on my day off I go down there, trying to keep my cool and kindly ask that someone come fix this shit, along with the wet spot in the carpet. Ms. Landlord types up the service request in the computer and I feel somewhat satisfied. A few days later I get a voicemail on my phone stating that they have replaced the drain in my tub and that I shouldn't use the shower for 3 days while the caulk dries and they've pulled up the carpet in the closet and have fans drying the wet spot. Finally, service. Three days later I gear up to take my first REAL shower and whattaya know, the hot water goes cold after 8 minutes and the tub still fills up with water. Long story short, I'm shit outta luck on the hot water because I only have a 30 gallon water tank (which, I incidentally found underneath the kitchen counter in the corner between the stove and the sink...yeah, that short). And apparently the tub filling up is an unsolved mystery because with a whole new tub drain that shit still fills up while I'm in the shower.

And the moral of the story is: Fcuk Renting!

But it ain't all bad party people. I bought an iMac for $100 from M'lady's brother. It's only a few years old and I have to cop the latest OS X because I'm running on 10.2 and Apple's shutting down support for that release at the end of the year. Football season is starting up and for once in a long time, I have absolutely no idea of who's going to be in the Super Bowl. At least from the NFC, in the AFC I have the Colts making it back. I would have picked the Chargers but apparently Shawn Merriman wants to end his career this year and he's a big part of that defense. I just don't see him lasting too long this year.

That's it for now, these jumbled thoughts brought to you by your homey Mallz.

Damn, the time between basketball season and football season is TORTURE! The only thing that keeps me from going completely insane is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday when wrestling comes on. Even still that's only seven hours of entertainment over that span of four days and now that I'm thinking about it...maybe that should be enough.

I was never that much into television before because as a kid growing up in Harrellsville we only had five channels, in which you could get a decent reception on only two or three of them on any given day. But now I got all these channels and there is nothing worthwhile on. Nigga, I've been watching the History Channel for the past 5 hours. It was interesting for the first hour and a half, then it just started to seem like I was watching the same shit over and over.

I propose the NBA and NFL show reruns of the past season on ESPN. You don't even have to show the whole games, just key moments and we'll be happy. Also, I know there's baseball but no matter how much I try I just can't make myself like baseball. It's slow and boring and even the people who paid to come to the games in the stands fall asleep during the game.

And all these off-season shenanigans are killing me. Brett Fav-ruh trying to come back to the league, asking to be released unconditionally from the Packers. Seriously? Brett Favre in the NFL not wearing green and yellow? I can't see it. And this is coming from a life-long 49er fan who saw Joe Montana come back from injury and end his career as a Kansas City Chief. You got Travis Henry dumb ass gettin another charge for weed and Matt Jones getting caught with cocaine and probably worse, Osi Umenyiora rapping about Tom Brady being cute.

September needs to hurry up.

I replied to a drop on my boy Zilla's LB fansite, which was actually a drop promoting a drop from Dan Johns' blog. Dan Johns was posing the question, "Have hip hop fans grown up?" Honestly, I don't even know how I went off on this tangent but I raised the point of how today's hip hop heads have no sense of history.

One of my homies begged to differ, and though I pretty much left his comment hanging cause I didn't want to post jack. Also, I've found having discussions/arguments with people is pretty pointless. Rarely will you change a nigga's mind, at best you can just agree to disagree. Not saying that said homey wouldn't have heard a nigga out, but I'd rather not get into a back and forth discussion on a blog that kinda wasn't about what we were talking about.

The point I was making was that hip hop is the only genre of music/culture or whatever where the history of it is largely unappreciated by those who participate in it. A psychologist can tell you about Sigmund Freud (even though he is pretty much regarded as a quack), NBA players know the contributions of the George Mikans, Bob Cousys, Connie Hawkins, etc., and rock fans and rock singers and musicians know the history of their music.

But ask your local young hip hop head who Kool Herc is or who the Cold Crush Bros. were and you'll get all kinds of screw faces. Shit, ask them niggas who the Lost Boys were and they wouldn't know. They don't care about Grand Wizard Theodore, who invented scratching or Tracy 168 or Phase 2, who turned graffiti from little throw ups to full fledged burners. And they don't know who Frosty Freeze (R.I.P.) or even Crazy Legs are either. Most young hip hoppers fail to realize or forget that hip hop is more than music.

Now, rather than just playing the older god role (at 27, ha!) and just complaining that the new generation of emcees have no sense of history, I'd rather propose some solutions. First of all, we as the older heads need to play our roles properly and guide these young'ns coming up in the game. Of course you will be met with resistance, we did it with our elders and our elders did it before us, that's just the way it is. Take your lil cousin or nephew or whatever and pump some Kool G. Rap or Slick Rick for him. Nine times outta ten, he'll hear elements of his favorite song from those two anyway. Watch Wild Style and Beat Street with him, not only is it putting him on to the history and the foundation of hip hop but it's some dope quality family time too. And if the lil nigga ain't in yo' family then it's some good mentor time.

The object isn't to make the younger generation like old school shit, just appreciate and recognize its importance in building what we have today. Not only that but it could possibly reinstate some hip hop values that are seemingly lost today: namely not biting and being original. Who knows, it may break this trend of a nigga having to be told what's hot before they make that decision on their own.

So to keep our asses from sounding like the bitter, older generation that's mad because they ain't hot no more we should take these lil niggas by the shoulders and put them on to the source of all the shit they pumping now.

Teach them well and let them lead the way (c) Randy Watson...and some chick named Whitney

Sorry I left yoooou (c)Jojo from Jodeci/Grand Puba

I'm a pretty random dude. There's always something going through my mind at any given point in time. When I got back to la casa from work I just started thinking about what people expected from me throughout my coupla years on this Urf.

I gotta say, I don't think too many people would see me in the situation I'm currently in and definitely not in the situation I was in prior to the current situation. (Follow me?)

As a young McMallzlet, I was either waist deep in a book or drawing some crazy cartoons. I wanted to be a cartoon when I grew up but later I learned that wasn't the best of goals to have in life so I wanted to be an artist. All throughout my formative years I was smart ass, drawing ass Jamaal who would definitely succeed in life. Even in high school I was president of the art club and the only student in Art IV and had plans to major in graphic design at whatever college I decided to go to.

Somehow between then and now shit got real crazy. I struggled badly as an art major, largely because of my lack of preparation from a sub par art program in high school and because of my laziness....or complacency. My grades dropped dumb quick and I got put on academic suspension for a semester.

Back to Harrellsville. Womp womp.

I come back next semester but the hole was dug so deep that I got suspended again.

Again, back to Harrellsville to sit out for a whole year. Womp womp.

I changed majors, changed majors again and finally graduated. I don't think anyone was disappointed in me because I never gave up on some Jim Valvano shit. But I did crush a few great expectations of friends, family and family friends. Especially when it came to my years working at the video store making barely over minimum wage and hardly being able to afford driving to work (this was before gas prices were acting an ass).

I remember as a kid, all my mom's friends telling me that I'm going to go to school, get my degree and be a great success.

So far, two outta three. What I'm trying to succeed at isn't necessarily what they had in mind but nobody's really knocking it. At least no one's made it known yet. It's been a long road but really, the only question I should be asking myself is if I am living up to my expectations.

I'd say I'm getting there, slowly but surely.

One hunnit.
