Silverline Books expands line of children’s graphic novels with THE LAVA IS A FLOOR and TIMOTHY & THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL!

This August Silverline Books, the children’s graphic novel imprint from Image Comics, debuts two all-new titles showcasing the human side of two very fantastic situations: THE LAVA IS A FLOOR by writer Justin Shady with artist Jeremy R. Scott and TIMOTHY & THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL by writer Michael Bullock with artist Michael Metcalf!

"I was immediately impressed with the way THE LAVA IS A FLOOR and TIMOTHY & THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL both appeal to a child’s sense of humor, while the vivid imagery captures the imaginations of new and reluctant readers alike, " Silverline Publisher Jim Valentino said. “Both books give unique twists on the everyday experiences of children, making them enjoyable for both kids and their parents.”

With THE LAVA IS A FLOOR and TIMOTHY AND THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL, Silverline Books continues its tradition of bridging the gap between comics and children’s story books for a new generation of fans.  THE LAVA IS A FLOOR is the story of a brother and sister troubled by a typical childhood dilemma; they’re bored.  Although these are not your typical sibling duo--they’re monsters living in the crater of a volcano!  Using their imaginations they pretend to be the strangest creatures they can think of: humans!  In TIMOTHY AND THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL, a young boy named Timothy soon finds out that with a seemingly normal beach towel he can transport himself to other worlds and times, including into the midst of an inter-galactic war!

THE LAVA IS A FLOOR (JUN090325), a 32-page full color hard cover book for $12.99, will be in stores August 5, 2009.

TIMOTHY AND THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL (JUN090327), a 112-page full color book for $16.99, will be in stores August 26, 2009.

Science fiction and noir crime combine like never before in July's EXISTENCE 2.0

This July writer Nick Spencer and illustrator Ronald Salas give one man the chance to start life anew after dying in the science fiction romp, EXISTENCE 2.0.

"I brought this book to Image, because in all my years of reading comics I've never quite seen anything like it," Image Comics Vice-President Jim Valentino said. "The way Nick and Ron combine the standard tropes of crime and science fiction to create something wholly new blew me away. It's a comic I had to read and I couldn't be happier to publish it."

EXISTENCE 2.0 begins moments after self-absorbed physicist Sylvester Baladine finds his consciousness transferred into the body of the hitman who murdered him. Settling into his anonymous new life in a younger, better looking body, Sylvester is pretty content until he discovers that the very people who plotted his assassination have kidnapped the one person he treasured most in his old life - his daughter. With only limited time before she dies, Sylvester must dig up and face the past he was happy to bury and figure out who tried to kill him and why they want his daughter, inadvertently making himself a target once more.

EXISTENCE 2.0 (MAY090303), a 32-page full color series for $3.50, will be in stores July 1st, 2009.

Dolce, Perry and Navarro bring super-spies to super-powers this July

This July, indie superhero favorite writers Michael Dolce and Marcus Perry join illustrator Mariano Navarro and cover artist Tyler Kirkham for their three issue mini-series exploring the dangerous side of superpowers, DESCENDANT.

"It's very hard to find a new spin on superpowers, but I think Mike, Marcus and Mariano have done it," Image Comics Vice-President Jim Valentino said. "DESCENDANT is completely different than any other book on the stands, but will be a big hit with fans of SLEEPER, CAPTAIN AMERICA and SECRET WARRIORS while surprising them like no other book can."

In DESCENDANT Rayne Santiago, a United States counter-terrorism soldier, is forced to return to her South American homeland after years of exile due to abusing her own innate pyrokinetic abilities. There she she receives word of her brothers' abduction by a rogue pharmaceutical conglomerate bent on using their DNA to manufacture super powers. Michael Dolce and Mariano Navarro's experience in the small press superhero field combined with Marcus Perry's past writing high-octane action films combines to tell a superpowered blockbuster the likes of which hasn't been seen.

DESCENDANT #1 (MAY090301), a 32-page full color comic book for $3.50, will be in stores July 15th, 2009.

Jimmie Robinson's all-ages superhero classic returns to print courtesy of Jim Valentino's Silverline Books.

18 March 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - EVIL AND MALICE, Jimmie Robinson's all-ages superhero series, finally gets collected this May in a 128-page trade paperback aimed at younger readers.

"A definitive collection of EVIL & MALICE has been a long time coming and I'm very happy it's with the folks at Silverline Books," Robinson said. "Over the years I've heard a lot of demand for a superhero series that older readers could share with their younger siblings, nieces and nephews. Considering Shadowline's continued pushes into the younger reader market with their own Silverline Books division, they seemed like the right home to bring back EVIL & MALICE. I'm highly anticipating its upcoming reception with fans -- new and old alike!"

EVIL & MALICE: SAVE THE WORLD collects the entire story of Evelyn and Malinda, the 13-year old twin daughters of an infamous (but soft-hearted) villain, The Black Eye. Once a collective of villains makes life miserable for dad, Evelyn and Malinda take it upon themselves to strike back -- as superheroes! They're quickly thrown into a madcap race against time until their father discovers their identities and grounds them for life!

EVIL AND MALICE: SAVE THE WORLD TPB (MAR092470), a 128-page full-color trade-paperback is priced at $14.99 and will be in stores May 20th, 2009.

12 February 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - Image Comics' Shadowline makes sure crime fans  of comics like SIN CITY and CRIMINAL have it good this April as writer Joshua Williamson and artist Alejandro Aragon introduce them to the hard-boiled noir of OVERLOOK!

"OVERLOOK takes everything I love about crime novels, movies and comics and distills them into three issues of some of the most brutal comics I've ever written," Williamson said. "Even better, Alejandro completely mastered conveying OVERLOOK's beautifully twisted noir with only his brush to help him. I cannot believe some of the things we're getting away with in this book. My fellow crime fans will be most pleased."

In the town of OVERLOOK, a dirty prize-fighter by the name of Mickey "The Nickel" Nicholson will do anything for a buck. Shadowline reports sell outs of debut books, SAVAGE and I HATE GALLANT GIRL!

Image Comics' Shadowline is proud to announce two of their newest and most diverse debuts, SAVAGE and I HATE GALLANT GIRL, have completely sold-out at a distribution level.

"Shadowline's steadfast commitment to diversity is what drives the entire imprint," Shadowline Publisher Jim Valentino said. "Having two completely different titles reach a similar success simultaneously is a very important occasion for us and one we hope drives readers to future issues of these wonderful books."

SAVAGE teams horror master Steve Niles with celebrated painted artist Mike Mayhew along with Dan Wickline and Jeff Frank to craft a hardcore thriller pitting werewolves against Bigfoot in an intense battle royale. On the other hand,  I HATE GALLANT GIRL, a runner-up in the Who Wants To Create A Superheroine Contest by writer Kat Cahill and artist Seth Damoose, takes a very different approach at the super-hero genre as a young woman rejected to be the world's next Gallant Girl decides to take destiny into her own hands. Limited quantities of both issues may still be available at your local comic book store.

SAVAGE 2 (SEP082267) and I HATE GALLANT GIRL 2 (OCT082311), both 32-page full color comic books for $3.50, are in stores now.

Ted McKeever Library continues with the complete modern apocalyptic epic, METROPOL!

Image Comics Shadowline continues the acclaimed TED MCKEEVER LIBRARY SERIES this February with McKeever's industrial apocalypse, METROPOL!

"The continuing success of the TED MCKEEVER LIBRARY is easily one of Shadowline's proudest moments," Shadowline Publisher Jim Valentino said. "Having METROPOL join the definitive editions of TRANSIT and EDDY CURRENT is something long overdue. In fact, with Ted's large body of work both behind and before him, we're looking forward to continuing the line's tradition for a very long time to come."

In METROPOL, McKeever reinterprets the biblical apocalypse through the eyes of non-entity Jasper Notorchord as angels and demons invade the stark future industrial landscape made popular in his earlier work, TRANSIT. Like the previous volumes of the Ted McKeever Library, this volume will not only feature METROPOL and its sequel, METROPOL A.D., in their entirety, but will be loaded with never and rarely seen material.

TED MCKEEVER LIBRARY VOL. 3, METROPOL (DEC082276), a 424-page black & white hardcover for $39.99, will be in stores February 25th, 2009.
