Greetings friends,

Here's a quick update for you...

Recently, Sheldy and Nicky put together an Alice In Chains tribute band
along with members from other well-known bands in Mumbai.
They played a concert on Layne Staley's death anniversary. The gig was a grand success. Nicky did the lead vocals!!

Viresh is busy with some personal things and taking some time off music.

Zomb is in the songwriting mode for his solo album. It's too early to comment on a release date as the songs are still incomplete. He is presently writing lyrics to the 10
songs that will be on the album and seems ot be in no hurry to bring out the new stuff. Interestingly, the music is not heavy metal. It is some laid-back chilled out exotic acoustic rock of some kind. Of course, there will be traces of the Metakix songwriting in there as he wrote all the music for the band. But this will surely be something special everyone. He is already jamming with a new guitarist and will make some appearances at small clubs. Just the two of them playing the songs. He will put together a backup band when he feels up to it. You can connect with him on facebook to know more ...look for 'Zomb Menon'.

Also, check out the Metakix community on Facebook, join and show some love!

Here are the pictures and some comments from VIRESH on what transpired:

1. Wargasm 07 Open Air, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee - 27th October 2007

http://www.metakix.com/on_a_rampage_07_1.html

After hardly any sleep (we flew down to Delhi at 3 am in the morning) and a six hour journey on road from Delhi to Roorkee we finally made it to the IIT Roorkee campus. The hospitality was very warm and overwhelming. Even after feeling extremely sad for Ivan not able to make it we were very excited and anxious to start our first show of the tour. After finishing our sound check and stage arrangements I felt much better but a bit more anxious. The venue was fucking huge and the stage setup was overwhelming. I had a fucking good feeling about it and to make it better, the weather at Roorkee was amazingly nice and cold. Just the right things to keep me boosted. After a little rest and interaction with campus students, fans and media people, we left for the venue to watch the final competing bands for the day. I saw a huge crowd gathering and a fucking wild bunch of rockers in the front near the stage (some 1000 people) showing evil horns and ready to bang their heads. It felt fucking great to be there. It was around 9:45 when we got on stage after the previous band Superfuzz finished their set. The crowd was screaming Metakix-Hand in Hand-Metakix-Back in the Zone-Metakix-You're Bloody Right-Metakix as loud as they could. We started our show around 10 with a blast of 'High' from Headlines followed by a Metallica medley, Small Town Aggression and You're Bloody Right. The crowd blasted into a mosh-pit followed by a huge fucking army of rockers going up to 7000+. It was a fucking AMAZING experience. We had to cut short our set since the deadline to end the show was 10:30 which was a big fucking bummer. Immediately after Zomb said that was the last song of our show a crowd of some hundred crazy Metakix fans mobbed the stage for autographs and pictures. An 8 year old kid managed to come up on stage to me with his elder sister for autograph. I told him he was the youngest Metakix fan I had ever met. I gave him a Metakix t-shirt and Cd. It was a great feeling of joy. We did an awesome chilled out interview for the music channel, Channel V (which would be airing sometime soon). The post gig party with the organizers from IIT Roorkee, fans, media and friends was great. I had a fucking good time getting drunk and high. This was one of the most amazing shows I have ever played and I took a lot of great memories with me.

2. Opening act for SEPULTURA (Kingfisher MetalFest), Hamsadhwani Open Air Theater, Delhi - 28th October 2007

http://www.metakix.com/on_a_rampage_07_5.html

After one more sleepless night and great memories at IIT Roorkee we hit the road back to Delhi for our next show. After reaching my house in Delhi and getting ready for the show we left for the venue, Hamsadhwani Theater in Delhi feeling again extremely proud, excited and anxious to share the stage with Brazilian giants SEPULTURA. Metakix was the opening act for the night. But it came as a big shock to us facing major sound problems owing to no amplifiers and soundcheck. It was like a nightmare. It was so unprofessional on the part of the organizers. We had two options:- -> Not to play and get fucked for it -> Play and still get fucked.... but the show had to go on.... so we decided to play and get fucked... I wish we had a proper sound as was promised to us and re-confirmed the day prior by the organizers... Metakix had never expected this. Anyways this was the worst sound I had ever played on in my career (funny considering the scale of the event) and it felt humiliating. The irony was that after having a great show the previous night, the next show was the worst show.... But it was a great opportunity to open for Sepultura and it was awesome to see them play first time in my country but I wished the crowd could have been more than the 3000 or so ppl there. They were as amazing as I thought. I really wanted to meet up with Andreas Kisser and Derrick Green after the show and thank them for supporting our album at HunterFest '07 (Poland), but somebody (yes you know who you are) had problems with that. All this considering that Metakix was the band that initiated the process of getting Sepultura to India. That's when I really missed Ivan and Tiziana (SolMusic). Fuck it.

3. RawPower '07, KRMM Hall, Chennai  - 2nd November 2007

http://www.metakix.com/on_a_rampage_07_6.html

http://www.metakix.com/on_a_rampage_07_2.html

We flew down to Chennai on 2nd morning and straight to the venue. Before starting soundcheck, we met all the old friends and fans from Chennai. We always loved playing in Chennai and I was glad to play there again.  The venue was KRMM college indoor hall, kickass venue!! Headlining act with Blood Covenant, Blind Image, Blood & Iron and Black Dahlia. This was the first show where I used my brand new ESP Deluxe custom guitar. It felt awesome to play on my new baby. After cracking jokes and some final words with Mike, the sound engineer we finished our soundcheck which made me feel much better. We started our set at around 9:30 and the response we got from the crowd was phenomenal. The venue was packed (700 people I think). We played an hour long set. Immediately after we finished our last song we had to run for the train station to catch our train to Bangalore for the next show. It was total chaos. Thanks to the drummer from the band Blood Covenant, Hurricane, who helped us reach the train station on time. He was driving like a fucking insane formula-1 driver at night on crazy Chennai roads which scared the shit out of me being in the front seat. Thanks to Eddie and the Exodus Team for organising a great show. We had a fucking great time!

4. SharkTooth LIVESTORMS, Legends Of Rock, Bangalore - 4th November 2007

http://www.metakix.com/on_a_rampage_07_3.html

After yet another sleepless night in the train to Bangalore we finally reached our hotel on 3rd Nov morning. We caught up on sleep and partied like there was no tomorrow in the hotel trying to overcome the exhaustion. The Bangalore leg of the Sharktooth LiveStorm series was kickstarted on 4th Nov at Legends Of Rock by two kickass local metal bands Extinct Reflections and Myndsnare, with Metakix headlining the event. The next day we reached the venue Legends Of Rock, for soundcheck. It was the smallest stage I had ever seen in my life. There was hardly any space for us to stand. It was pretty fun though. We started our set after Myndsnare finished playing. Guess who had come to watch the show, Andre the tour manager for Sepultura. We had an awesome show and somehow managed to headbang and not get hit by each other on stage. Soon after the show the post gig party began with all the other bands, friends, fans and organisers. It turned out to be a blast and fucking crazy party followed by all the possible intoxications we could get. We got high enough to somehow make it to our hotel rooms. It was a great show and a fucking awesome party. Fuck Yeah......m/

5. Grand Finale at Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai - 6th November 2007

http://www.metakix.com/on_a_rampage_07_4.html

It was great to be back in Mumbai to play at Hard Rock Cafe where we launched our album. This was the first time for HRC to have a full blown thrash metal show since we have been in excellent terms and good relations with them. This show was originally not part of the tour and instead the band had two more dates in two other cities. Fans in Mumbai requested to add a date in Mumbai. Additionally HRC bent its rules and allowed full blown thrash metal to be played in their premises for the very first time in Mumbai. After all the technical delays we started our soundcheck and got the best sound HRC had ever heard. The new VOX TUBE AC-30 amps were very incredible and I didn't require any monitors on the stage for the first time. The new sound engineer had a funny name so I called him 'Kill'. We started our set around 8:30 when the venue was getting packed with Metakix Fans and friends. It was an amazing show, great sound and a fantastic response. This gig ended up being a blast for everybody involved including the crazy, diehard fans from Mumbai.

Following the Sepultura Indian tour, where Metakix opened, there was an instance of a mammoth goof up in the Indian Media.

In an interview of the great Derrick Green that was printed, they displayed a picture of Zomb (vocalist of Metakix) and tagged him Derrick Green.
