I'd like to thank all of you who were kind and persistent enough to hunt me down, then kept checking in through the years until, low and behold…I MADE A NEW CD!!!
I loved making
I Hear Angels Calling with you in mind. I never lost track of you, in my heart.
So why did it take so long? I could give a million, 'I've been busy' excuses but honestly, I wasn't sure I'd succeed. I wasn't sure anyone would care either way. And even when I felt the heavens above urging me to record I put it off for another 2 years until one day I just decided TO DO IT! What was the harm?
The beauty is that just stepping forward with booking the studio, hiring the players, writing the title track…. created all the energy I needed to drown out the doubt I'd been sitting on!
So…here we are. A new year, a new chance to be and do all the things we've been thinking, praying about and wanting to do.
Did you make a New Year's Resolution? Neither did I! I hate those things!
They NEVER work,
So, if you could make a resolution that would work, what would it be?
* Clean out the garage?
* Be nicer to you husband or wife or friend or yourself!?
* Set better boundaries with your children?
* Lose weight?
Whatever it may be, I think I have an idea that might work for you and me in seeing our new plans to fruition.
It's in part what I did leading up to making my Christmas CD.
Ready?
Get out a piece of paper and write down 3 things you'd like to see change in your life this year.
Then circle the one that means the most to you.
Now, go to your calendar for 2007 and mark one day in this month that will work for you to spend one hour doing something. At the same time, mark two days in February and three days in March.
Mark four days in April, and so on. If you get confused remember that the days you're dedicating to change are the same as the month's number.
Pick a day that you know will work! Whether it's 2 days from now or two weeks.
DON'T CANCEL on yourself.
Write it in as an appointment and even jot down a reminder a couple of days prior.
If it's to lose weight, walk for one half hour that day and read about how to lose weight on line for 30 minutes. Look up photos of heart's riddled with fat or statistics on diseases caused by weight gain.
If your goal is to be a better husband, wife or friend to yourself, go out to dinner, buy her a card and spend 30 minutes thinking about what you'd like to say to her in it.
If it is the garage, spent the first hour buying boxes, bags or whatever you will need to clean it out and then DON'T do anything till your next garage appointment!
The main thing is to keep your appointments each month. And if for some reason the dog eats your homework and you miss the appointment, forgive yourself and keep the next one FOR SURE.
I've learned that small steps are a good thing and forward motion, no matter how small, is much more productive than burning a million brain cells, losing sleep and beating yourself up with plans that don't move forward at all. A slow and steady ship almost always gets to its destination. A rocket ship often crashes to the ground as fast as it took off and ends in a pile of rubble!
Let's keep in touch via my
Guestbook and see where we are in a few months!
And LET'S BE HONEST.
This is not a test.
We can laugh at ourselves and find answers if we tell the truth.
You don't know each other anyway!
Gotta go! I need to put on my tennis shoes and head out to walk my farm!
P.S. Oh, when you've completed # 1 on your list, go on to # 2. And if #1 is something that shouldn't end, (like being nicer to your spouse) add your # 2 goal when you've been consistent with #1 for 3 months! But most importantly, mark all your days in one sitting and when you see it coming up, go for it!
Here's to the New Year!
Love,
Michele
