mam095 - eskimeaux - Doubt EP
After making an appearance on our recent rainy day mixtape, we new that Eskimeaux was someone we wanted in our midst. Also a member of Philadelphia's Motorcycle Maus, Gabrielle has provided us with an excellent example of experimental freak-folk in this seamless EP. Eskimeaux's word ring out in a sea of crunching fuzz.

A second new artist for the new year, we're very proud to have eskimeaux with us.  She's a wonderful addition to the family, and I hope you'll all click here and show her some love.  I hope she stays with us as long as she can.

Track Listing:
01 Doubt
02 Dirty May, 2009
03 Your Fire Arms
04 Xerostomia

mam094 - Fambly Fun! - BROS
It's all in the family with Fambly Fun! This new project from K. Wilhelm and Pushmi-Pullyu's Corey Murphy is off the hook. Nothing is off limits for the Fambly. "Have you ever eaten your fucking cat?"

Happy New Year!  It's been 2010 for 20 days, and it's about damn time we have some new music in the family.  I think many of you will find this a very fun addition to the mam!records roster, and a great way to start off the new year.  Quality musicianship + ridiculous lyrics = Fambly Fun!

This would have been out much sooner, but there were some last minute changes to the release, and everything had to be reuploaded.  The changes are for the better, though, so it was worth the wait.

We'll also be starting a new EP series (like last year's Clouds series) very soon.  It'll be a joint venture with another netlabel, but more information on that later.

Track Listing:
01 Fambly Werewolf!
02 Fambly Destruction!
03 Fambly Dolla! (Feat. Lil' C)
04 Fambly Values!
05 Fambly Fantasy!

As always, use any of the links above to download the new release.  If you would like to give a few dollars to the artist, use the Bandcamp link above to download for whatever price you'd like (enter zero to download for free).  I recommend giving the guy a couple bucks for it, but we offer you plenty of sources to download the album for free if that is your desire.  Either way, enjoy this music!

This is a reminder that you have about three days to submit tracks for the second volume of the rainy day mixtape.  Submissions from the first volume are no longer relevant to this release.  We'd love to see submissions from our wonderful family of artists, as well as anyone else reading this.

Those of us behind the scenes here at mam!records have loved Nuclear Woods for quite a while now, and we're really happy to finally share this wonderful EP with all of you.  Make sure to go add Nuclear Woods on their myspace, and definitely check them out live if the opportunity presents itself.

I think we can agree that it's time for another volume of the mam!records rainy day mixtape.  Originally, we had thought to make the second volume out of tracks that were not selected for the first volume, but for a number of reasons, we're deciding against that.  Talking it over with the other guys who help me out here, we've decided that it is more appropriate to give all of the artists a chance to bring their A-game and submit a new track.  A lot of the tracks that were not included with the first volume are possibly no longer representative of their respective artists' current work.  So everyone is getting a new shot at a new disc.

Keeping how our past experiences in mind, we hope that this disc will be the best mam!records compilation ever.  This one might very well be a two-disc volume, based on the dramatic increase in submissions we get each time.

We also plan on releasing more compilations, mixtapes and samplers as we grow as a community.  The goals for this label have always included creating a strong community for artists and those who like to listen.

Enough of that, though.  I know what you all want.  And that is DETAILS.

mam!records rainy day mixtape volume 2

Deadline: Sunday, October 25th

Release: Wednesday, November 11th (11/11/2009)

Who can submit: Anybody (whether you have released on this label before or not)

Length: No more than 6 minutes.

Other important details:

1) All submissions MUST be in a lossless format.  Acceptable lossless formats include FLAC, WAV, (uncompressed) AIFF.  If you do not know how to get these files out of your program(s), let me know and I'll help you.  Anything in MP3 or any other lossy file will be immediately rejected.  We're done with the whole "If you like it, I'll bother to upload it in a lossless format" or "my program can't export that" or "they take too long to upload".  The files are bigger, and that's good.  If you have some issue with this rule, contact me and we'll work something out.  As our releases are downloaded more and more, we are expected to have high standards of quality.

2) Upload your files to a site like sendspace.com, megaupload.com, mediafire.com or any other site that works like that.  Leave the email slots blank and send me the URL it gives you.

3) Your song can be from any release past or present (or unreleased), but it must not have been selected for a mam!records compilation in the past.

4) One song entry per person/artist.  If you have more than one musical project, feel free to submit something from both projects.  In the past, we accepted two tracks from each artist, but there are just too many tracks to sift through to do that anymore.

5) Pick a song that you feel represents your music.  We want tracks that show people what we're made of.  Try to pick something you're proud of.

We look forward to hearing all of your submissions.  I know this might come off as sounding like it's a pain, but it really is enjoyable for those of us behind the scenes of mam!records to go through all the tracks.  We always have fun, even if there are 4+ hours of tracks.  :D

http://www.twitter.com/mamTWEET

We'd love to follow all of you as well.

SUBMISSIONS

Now that we're pretty much caught up with releases, we'd love to get submissions for new releases.  The goal is two or three releases a month.  Do you know someone who would like to join the family?  Send them our way.  We are always open to new artists joining.

There will also be a few new projects announced in the very near future (by next week), including the next issue of the rainy day mixtape series and details about the Colias series (big news to come here).

TORRENTS

In the past, we have offered many mam!records releases for free download via hosting at archive.org as well as torrents on a number of private trackers.  To spread our distribution even farther, we have been given a Content Distributor account at the popular public torrent tracker mininova.

From now on, new releases will also be released as featured downloads on mininova.org.  This will allow for much greater exposure and will provide another option for downloading new mam!records releases.  There is even an RSS link on our page, so you can automatically download all new mam!records releases as soon as they're put up.

Click here to view our Content Distributor page.

NEW RELEASES

First off, it is important to update all of you as to the new releases.  There are some REALLY great things here, and I strongly recommend that each and every one of you download each and every one of these amazing releases.

Take note of Trepans and Motorcycle Maus, who have their very first releases on mam!records.  Please show them some support and give them a big welcome to the family.

mam082 - Mósslonnrós - The Last Inch of Snow to Fall
After 7 months from the last EP, the new Mósslonnrós album is finally available on mine, all mine! records. It includes music influenced by the likes of Steve Reich, Robert Rich and Brian Eno as well as melodies pulled from Mósslonnrós post-rock experience.
FLAC | MP3

mam083 - Goldyne - Goldyne EP
Goldyne returns to mam!records with this bizarrely coherent set of tracks that some manage to combine distorted electronics, guitars and reverbed vocals into something that's not quite freakfolk yet not quite experimetnal electronics. You have to hear it for yourself.
FLAC | MP3

mam084 - Trepans - Trepans
On Earth's new project Trepans makes its debut here on mine, all mine! records with a suitably epic self-titled release. Equal parts ambiance and dance groove fuels this ethereal full-length. This is a must-have.
FLAC | MP3

mam085 - [praw] - 7 Horrors
Recorded on commission for use in a short film. This is a set of seven possible horror themes submitted for consideration. Horror 7 was eventually used in the film.
FLAC | MP3

mam086 - Motorcycle Maus - Knockout
mam!records is proud to present the debut EP from Pennsylvania's Motorcycle Muas, Knockout. This six track release of experimental indie tracks is expertly written and mixed. Guitars and tribal drums blend seamlessly with electronics that seem to disguise themselves as organic machines.
FLAC | MP3
TORRENT

mam87 - K. Wilhelm - Caffeine LP
K. Wilhelm's full-length, Caffeine LP, serves as a sort of sampler of various works released and unreleased until now. Instead of just collecting tracks together for this full-length release, K. Wilhelm reworked and remastered most of the tracks.

Hot damn!  It feels good to be back!

I'm happy to say that I have settle in to the small town of Bø, Norway.  There is a sizable mound of material that has backed up over the last few months, and I am very happy to get this out for all of your listening ears.  I hope you can all understand the reasons behind these delays - it's smooth sailing for a while now.

To celebrate the wonderful material many of you have sent in (and continue to send), we'll be offering you backed up and new releases in rapid fire.  These releases will possibly be made into megaPACK torrents for simple download.  For now, here are the FLAC downloads of five great releases I've been itching to get out.

mam077 - Sadsic - [Bedroom Emotions]

Sadsic offers his first release on mam!records. It is an amazing beginning to his time here. This release is on par with musical greats Black Moth Super Rainbow and Boards of Canada.

mam078 - [praw] - From The Valley To The Sea

The follow-up to "From The Mountain To The Valley," this release by [praw] is a single, nearly-live ambient trumpet piece. Previously unreleased, it has been circulating private torrent sites for months.

mam079 - Chrystos - Opaque EP

Chrystos makes his mam!records debut with this excellent blend of ambient, electronic and hip-hop.  Fans of Portishead, Ratatat, and anything with a beat will love this album.  You can tell Chrystos knows what he's doing by his successful use of rapper Pluto on one track of this ambient album.

mam080 - Anon, They Move - The Passing Of A Spy Glass

Anon, They Move is yet another new recruit to the mam!records family. His first release here is a minimalist electronic classical set with tints of post-rock. The charm of its simplicity (both in composition and instrumentation) takes a few listens to grasp, but it is definitely an honorable first entry.

mam081 - Given Willingly - Psychogram

Given Willingly returns to mam!records with his signature mix of indie / post-rock / electronic / just-plain-sex-in-your-ear sounds.  Previously released by our friends at Timetheory, the mam!records version of this release includes two bonus tracks.  Look for more from Given Willingly (both here and at other fine labels) soon.

For now, only FLAC is available (with the exception of Anon, They Move's release which is only available in mp3), but within the next 24 hours, the mp3 and ogg files should be ready.

Expect five more releases very soon.  Once we catch up, we will try to offer weekly/biweekly releases, so keep sending your material.  It is always appreciated!

COLIAS

We are officially taking submissions for the Colias EP series (like last year's Clouds EP series).  You can fit the theme (Colias is a type of butterfly) as closely or as abstractly as you wish.  Just keep your release EP-length, and you're set.

I look forward to our continued partnership here at mam!records.  All of us involved appreciate your dedication and support.

<3 JOHN

P.S. Get this if you haven't:

mam076 - mam!records rainy day mixtape volume 1

mine, all mine! records presents their second compilation and their first ever volume of rainy day mixtapes. This mix is meant to include both label artists and newcomers/guests who share a similar set of ethics and musical styles.

Hello fellow music lovers and musicians,

I want to apologize for my lack of ability to follow through on projects lately.  As a lot of you know, I am moving to Norway very shortly (I will be in Norway on the 15th).  This last month has been almost hellish to say the least.  I've been frantically assessing my financial situation and the possibility of coming back to the states early to assure my graduation.

On top of that, I've had very poor internet situations, including this last week or two at my folk's house.  Towns of 2000 people rarely have great internets.

Once again, I apologize for abandoning you people who have been nothing but kind, supportive and cooperative.  Once I get settled in to my dorm in Bø, Norway, I want to ramp up the energy here.  So many of you have sent me such great music that really needs to be heard.

I love each and every one of you.

So very soon,
John Praw

I know things have been slow here for a while, but we have definitely been working on some things over here.

RAINY DAY MIXTAPE VOLUME 2

We continue to work on the second volume of the Rainy Day Mixtape series.  Most of the tracks will be selected from the first pool of submitted tracks.  If you'd like to submit a new track or you missed your opportunity the first time around, you can upload a lossless file somewhere (ex. sendspace.com) and send the link here.  No release date has been selected yet.

mam:COVERS PROJECT

mam!records is now taking submissions for the upcoming release, mam:COVERS.  The release will, obviously, be a release of covers.  Each artist may submit up to two cover tracks of popular or independent artists for this project, curated by K. Wilhelm's Corey Murphy.  Corey is planning and developing this project, and gearing this project toward songs with lyrics if possible.  Tracks will be selected based on originality of renditions.  You are encouraged to take as much or as little from the original as you wish.

Tracks must be submitted in a lossless format (ex. flac, wav, alac).  If you need help getting your files in these formats (no transcodes) feel free to comment or message here.  Tracks must be submitted either here or to kwilhelm@mamrecords.com by August 1st.  That will be the last day submissions will be accepted.

ANNOUNCING COLIAS

Last year, we tried our hands at the free EP series, Clouds.  We are proud to announce the new EP series, Colias.  As with Clouds, this is a themed series.  You can stick as close to the theme as you wish.  For those of you who don't know, Colias is a genus of butterfly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colias).  Our first issue of Colias is almost complete, and comes courtesy of our good friend stop/eject.  Please message us here if you are interested in being part of Colias.  We plan to release at least one issue of Colias a month.

OTHER NEWS

It has been a bit slow here, but we really want to step it up a notch and become more active than ever.  If you or someone you know would like to become part of mam!records, message us here on myspace.  We'd love to have you join our family.

It's been a long time coming, but we think you'll agree that it was well worth the wait.  Out of over three and a half hours of material comes the first volume of the mam!records rainy day mixtape series.  There were a lot of really great submissions by tons of talented artists, so making the cut to a CD-length release was not an easy task.  If you don't see your work here, don't give up!  The idea was not just to put the "best" tracks on the disc, but to put the tracks that made the best disc.  Because we had so many submissions, look for volume two shortly.  That's right - we had enough submissions to make two entire volumes of the mixtape.  Both have some really great material.

And for the first time ever, this release is available from mam!records in both flac and mp3!

Click here to download the flac files.

The submissions are all in, and now we must simply sort through them and come up with the final volume.  It's a bit difficult right now, because there is a lot going on for all of the mam!records staffers (end-of-the-year stuff), and there are almost three and a half hours of material to sort through.

The sampler will be released before May 15th, but we're aiming for sooner if possible.  In the mean time, we'll start doing our regular releases again.  So if you've got material you'd like to add to the queue, send us a message.

Best wishes and fish kisses,
John (& crew)
