we have time coming available in our practice space in W'burg/Greenpoint (N. 15th and Gem specifically) if you're looking for a regular monthly space. It's small, it sounds good, it doesn't smell gross (new carpeting on the walls and floor), it's cool and comfortable in the summer and warm and comfortable in the winter, it's totally secure (big locks and security cameras,) it has a storage loft and even two windows that let in some light.

The catch is that it's small so if you're a nine piece guitorchestra with full stacks and a double bass drum, this won't work for you. It's perfect for a three piece and I play there with two four piece bands quite comfortably. There will be a 'house' drum kit, bass rig and PA for you to use and you're welcome to bring/store your guitars, keyboards, small-to-medium amps, etc. The days currently available are Tuesdays, Thursdays and every other Saturday. $120 a day for the month, cheap! Drop me a line if you're interested...

Available Sept. 1st.

Aw hell, lock up your moms, too, I'm coming to town.

I'll be there in ten days as part of the Denver Post Underground Music Showcase. My show dates are:

July 24th-- Irish Rover at 7pm (yes, I will do my best to be embarrassingly drunk by this early hour)

July 25th-- Indy Ink at 9:30 pm (yes, I will undoubtedly be embarrassingly drunk at this late hour)

Also, I'll be in town from July 22nd to the 27th so if anyone wants to hang out, buy me a drink or a burrito or give me your old prescriptions, well, I will make myself available.

love (or what passes for it these days),
Mishka

I'm working on an article about folks living in non-traditional spaces-- cars, buses, boats, boxes, basically the weirder the better. The focus of the article will be what the concept of 'home' means to folks on the cusp of homelessness when 'home' in new york and america has become something someone lives in for a couple of years and flips for a profit or hangs around their neck like status jewelry. If you or anyone you know is in a situation like this, please get in touch. Yeah, I know, this article has nothing to do with sex/ drugs/ rock'n'roll. That's kinda the point.

love,
M.

So I joined this band and six weeks later, went to the UK with them on tour. It was fun but man, there was too much mayonnaise! Read about it here: http://www.nypress.com/article-19904-the-other-23-hours.html

So chances are that if you're a friend of mine, even just a myspace friend, you're one of those folks who describes themselves as "not easily offended." Come out tomorrow night and find out exactly where your tolerance for sexism, racism, violence, vulgarity, pornography, perversion and just plain filth ends. Doug Stanhope is the smartest comic and biggest asshole alive today and the way he lives, he won't stay alive for long. So check him out live before you become one of those pricks waiting for people to die before you can validate their art, collecting his DVDs and telling your friends "oh man, I had a chance to go see him just before he got shot by that tranny hooker, too, but I didn't end up going because they had two-for-one Bro-garitas with free spicy bacon cheezies at Duff's that night!" And yeah, I'll be doing a couple of songs before he tears your conscience a new asshole (or a first if your conscience didn't already have an asshole). Doors at 7, show starts at 8 pm sharp.

yeah, that's a big chunk of change but you need a laugh and wouldn't you rather your hard-earned green go to a force for chaos right now?

It's because I got drunk the other night and posted a comment on some weirdo pro-life video on Youtube "the problem is not that we're killing babies, it's that we're not killing enough babies."

You are never going to believe this, but right-wing Christian freaks apparently have no sense of humor about a lil ole babykillin'...

xmas swag this year:

$20 from my dad
a package from my mom that I haven't made it down to the post office to pick up yet
a chocolate bar with bacon in it and some meat band-aids
an oxycontin

oh, and a card and some PJs, delicious food and other nice thoughtful kindnesses from folks I've fucked over in ways both small and large.

Christmas Day orphan's breakfast with loaner cats and Dead Man Walking, then moving furniture for friends getting evicted or evicting themselves. Getting those good deeds for the year in right under the wire.

To hollow out your life and then bitch cause it's empty, man, that's got Shubaly written all over it.

Merry Xmas, suckers.
