Hey Everyone,

It's been way too long since we've poked our heads out of the studio and updated everyone on what we're up to. We are just putting the finishing touches on our new CD, which is titled 'Sleep Well When You Get There'. It's a six song EP that we are going to be giving away for free download @ www.monumentmonument.com. Along with being available online, we will also be printing 500 limited edition copies of the CD for purchase. We've been kicking around ideas for this release for a long time, and decided that we'd rather give this away to everyone. This way the people who don't have the means to purchase it can acquire it . We are personally funding the cost of everything ourselves, as we have no label support. The recording costs along with the cost of hosting a website are starting to rack up. We sincerely need everyones help on this one to keep us going. We came up with the idea to make 500 actual copies available for purchase to help offset these costs. There are two ways you can obtain a copy:

First, We are having a CD release party on July 25, 2008 at The Shelter in our hometown of Detroit, MI. Doors are at 6PM and we are playing with our good friends Search The City and Fireworks. Everyone who attends will be given a copy of the limited edition CD for free. Tickets are $12 each and you can get them at any Ticketmaster or you can purchase them directly through us to avoid service charges at the link below.

We've been a band for almost 4 years now and we've all made this the first priority in our lives. We're sure as most of you know, the music industry is in a rough spot right now. It's becoming harder and harder for bands like us to survive and the cost of gas makes it extremely hard to tour without label support. We're not expecting nor wanting to make a ton of money, but breaking even is becoming harder and harder. We'd love to be able to make music together the rest of our lives, and that's our ultimate goal.

We are indeed alive (shocker)!   I wanted to give you all an update of what we've been doing!

First thing.   We have been writing a truck load of new songs.  We have around 10 brand new songs that we love very much.  Writing a good song takes time (sometimes it doesn't), and we're very pleased with how these new songs turned out.  We may or may not be slipping a new song in our set here and there, so keep an ear out for that.

Second, we are going to record all of the aforementioned songs this week.  We don't know what we're doing with these songs yet, but we love them, and we know you will too.  We will try to throw together some kind of video for you to watch, which will be much more interesting than this message!  

Third, we will be getting out on the road again in the next few months, so if you want us to play your town, let us know!  We would be honored to play for you!  Is 2008 the year of the Monument?  Have a fun, and safe New Years!  Happy Holidays!

Monument, Monument

We are no good at keeping up with blogs...but then again, does anyone really read them?! May be you do. If so, this is for you!

We'll tomarrow we wrap up our Winter Tour w/ STC and thinking back on everything we've had such a good time! We froze our nuggets off, went to Mexico, drove through endless desert, touched the Pacific Ocean, saw the Rocky Mountains, and gambled in Las Vegas, but most importantly met sooooo many awsome people. We want to thank everyone that was so nice to us while we were out on the road. Big thanks to the great bands that we played with, and  Super big thanks to the people that put us in their homes, fed us, and let us use their showers(you are not fogotten, and we love you!). We would be stranded, dirty, and cold if wasnt for you.

Ok, it's been forever since we've put up a blog so I figure i'd fill everyone in on the world of monument. As im sure everyones noticed, we've been taking it easy on the shows the last couple months. We've been held up in our practice room writing a ton of new material. I can speak for all of us when I say that we're very pleased with the direction our new stuff is heading. We've never been so excited. You guys have no idea how hard it is for us to sit on these new songs and not play them for you. We don't want to play all of them quite yet because 1.) we still have small things to work out and 2.) we still want to promote Call off the Roses. Recently, we have sneeked one new song into our set. If you've heard it, let us know what you think.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we're not slacking or letting up one bit. Everything's great and we're working harder than ever.

So far tour has been amazing. We want to thank everyone who has given our music a chance. As of right now, its 5 am and search the city's van is broken down outside of chicago. we managed to find an auto parts store that was open and we found a dry cleaners that has wifi! the sun is coming up and the van is almost fixed!
