Hello Got Jokes? family and friends,

For those who have grown accustomed to keeping up with the Got Jokes? crew through our newsletter, I apologize for the brief absence.  We've done quite a bit of restructuring in the Got Jokes? organization to insure that we are able to better respond to the needs of our fan base. Make no mistake we've been busier than ever and continue to work hard making history with your help as the premiere improv group in the country.

We are happy to announce that we will be making our return to the Tampa Improv on June 24th and July 22nd! These are shows that you really can't afford to miss. Got Jokes? on the most prolific comedic stage in Tampa can't help but be magical. Stay tuned for more details.

If you happened to miss our last couple of shows, I will fill you in quickly. Our Hip Hop Soda Shop audience was treated to a performance by one of the more accredited poets in the nation with Michael Guinn. A couple days later, we were honored to be a part of the Marshall Center Celebration at USF. This past Saturday, we had an emcee free for all with background beats courtesy of one of our audience members. That all culminated in a performance by Lioness who showed why she has made her mark in the underground scene in Tampa as a femcee, and thought provoking reggae artist.

There is truly never a dull moment at a Got Jokes? show!

This Saturday will be no different as we bring you another installment of our Who Got Jokes? segment. Watch as we hold live auditions during the show working out some of the best talent in the Tampa Bay area. You, the audience determines the winner! If you think you have what it takes, come out and flex your improv muscles! The only requirement is that you have a good sense of a humor, quick wit and a desire to help grow Tampa Bay’s premiere improv comedy troupe! Only three lucky hopefuls will get a shot at a private audition for Got Jokes? and a feature spot during one of our shows.

But that's not all....

Each week Got Jokes? brings you a special guest showcasing the best underground talent in the country from every genre. They join in the Got Jokes? mayhem in what always transforms into rare magical moments that only our fans get to experience.

Our special guest this weekend will be local activist and talented Spoken Word Artist...

Adrienne Nadeau

Adrienne Nadeau was born with ink running through her veins and it is rumored that her first words were poetry. In June 2004 she went to her first spoken word show and hasn’t gotten off the stage since. She uses her creative talents to explore her religious background, speak about women’s rights and vent about her ex boyfriends.

Now, you can find her as a regular performer at many diverse poetry venues around Tampa, including Resurrection @ the Lobby, Straight Loca Presents & Lyrical Aspirations. Adrienne has been honored as a feature at several events, including Say What? A Spoken Word Event, Poetic Mayhem: Fall Fury, Oktoberfest @ USF, Black on Black's All*Star Poetry Slam, Tampa Museum of Art “Art After Dark”, Gecko Fest, Poetry Izand has won many slams and competitions including the annual Quilt Poetry Slam two years in a row, University of Tampa’s Apollo Night, Bombshell Gallery’s Poetry Slam & placed 2nd in the Tampa Bay Writer's Alliance Poetry Contest.

March 5, 2008 was the official release date of THE WARRIOR WOMAN. With over 23 tracks and a full hour of spoken word, this collection is the result of 3 years of growth as a poet and a performer.

Got Jokes? at the Hip Hop Soda Shop is a weekly event that is free of charge compliments of the Hip Hop Soda Shop. It is our way of giving back to our fans for their tremendous support. It’s the only venue where you get to see Got Jokes? newest games and a smorgasbord of new cast members providing you with an engaging experience, unique to the improv world and Tampa’s nightlife.

Last weekend was another incredible show. We want to thank Chadun, our guest performer, for ripping the stage and delivering a memorable performance. As you know, we are dedicated to fulfilling our mission of steppin’ up our game each and every week. Obviously, that is no easy task so to make that happen we need to expand our roster. That’s where you come in….

Richard J describes himself as a tall,skinny, eccentric, neurotic, mildly funny, slightly handsome, dead sexy,scorching smart ass that happens to be a poet. Born in PA, grew up in IN, moved to FL, did the Air Force in TX and AZ,  and became a spoken word poet in Tucson. Richard now makes his home in Florida. The Tampa Bay Spoken Word scene has never been the same! As a spoken word artist Richard J. has competed in slams across the country and made a name for himself as an artist and activist for change.  Richard J. currently serves as the Director of Artistic Events for Warrior Woman, Inc., a group of Tampa Bay artists dedicated to bringing teens and at-risk youth a means of artistic expression through empowering writing workshops. His smart wit, comedic sarcasm and take no prisoners approach to poetry separates him in a community filled with talented artists.

Hello Got Jokes? family and friends,

First, I’d like to thank everyone who came out last week for our first show of the new year. The energy was electric as our cast brought the house down Got Jokes? style! Special props goes out to our first lady of Got Jokes?, Sharon Gabaree who delivered an amazing comedy set as our featured performer. Each show seems to get better than the previous. Great music, delicious food, drink specials, new games and spontaneous content! There is a reason why we’ve been called “Tampa’s next BIG thang”!

James ”Fuquan” Johnson was born on December 8, 1973. He was born in Tampa, but spent equal portions of his childhood in Orlando, Plant City and Miami, Florida. Fuquan was destined to be a musician, as music is in his bloodline. His maternal grandparents both played musical instruments, and both his parents play the piano. His mother is a well known gospel singer, and his father plays the blues. His hip hop education was provided by Kenny K, a member of Digital Underground, who has been credited with bringing hip hop to the Tampa Bay area. Fuquan often refers to himself as a one man band, playing drums, piano and the tuba. Music/Experience Fuquan has toured Florida, Texas and Georgia with Joy in Praise (a local gospel group) as their drummer; he has functioned as a sound engineer with numerous musical groups, and traveled throughout the southern United States in that capacity. Fuquan is the producer/manager of a local rap group, Ghetto Dynasty. This group has opened  or such artists as Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, Trina, Eightball & MJG, Lil Wayne. On an individual basis, Fuquan performs on a regular basis at Lyrical Aspirations. He is well established as a part of the Florida underground hip hop community, and just released his debut solo album, As the Ceiling FanTurns. He recorded and produced the entire cd project by himself. Fuquan’s musical style is unique, as he often experiments with different sounds and techniques on a production level. His motto for his production company, Unknown Productions, is “Don’t fear the  unknown.” His songs offer his perspective on his personal experiences. He tries to maintain honesty in his artistry. Fuquan likes the challenge of making a general idea into music. The creative process is mentally stimulating, and he prides himself on “bringing the founk” lyrically, and musically.
