So we've finally decided to call it a day for more reasons then we can list (one of them being Dan quitting shortly after the Canadian cancellation). All I can say is thank you to everyone that ever supported our little band in anyway all over the world, especially those who helped when the van crashed. We got to see some pretty amazing things and make some really rad friends. In short, thanks for making some pretty awesome dreams come true.
You stay Classy...Planet Earth,
Much The Same

It seriously pains me to announce this but our van is fucked. our brakes are fucked, and as we were about to leave for canada we realized this, and we have no money to get things fixed. My sincere apologies to everyone who was planning on seeing us. Apologies to Mute and Hope, both great bands. Go and see those guys play if you have a chance. Ever since we got back from Europe it seems like everything has turned against us. bah.

After 8 years,Chris ( a.k.a Gunner) Mcgrath has decided to leave Much The Same. This decision is something that everyone agreed was the best for himself and the band. This however, by no means is the end of our band. We are still heading to Canada with our good friend, Rod (who will also be playing the Only Crime/ No Trigger dates.) He also plays bass for the Chicago band Counterpunch, and we thank them for letting us borrow him. Soon after that we are looking forward to writing a new record that we feel will truly reflect who we are and where we are going. We don't plan on having any open tryouts just yet. We hope to see you all at the shows and we'll keep you posted. Thanks everyone, Frank, Dan, and Jevin For a more detailed explanation as to why Chris quit go here

We had the most amazing experience of our lives and we thank everyone who came to a show, let us crash on their floors, and bought a shirt or a cd. we didn't even roll the van this time! The dates for our Canadian tour next month with MUTE and HOPE are posted on our page, as well as the handful of dates we have with ONLY CRIME and NO TRIGGER. check them out and hopefully we'll see you at a show. After that tour is done we are heading home and taking some time off to write a new record. We cannot wait for everyone to hear the new shit! stay classy, Jevin/MTS

Hey everyone, i write to you from Ahnuld's hometown of Graz, Austria. Our good friend from the amazing band RED LIGHTS FLASH, Christoph, has put us up for a few nights while at the same time promoting our show here. Be sure to check them out.
Europe has been amazing. i can go on forever thanking people on here, but i dont have the time right now. Touring with HOGWASH was great. we had some great times....the people of toulouse were great as well. its strange how skatepunk can still be thriving in western france. crazy. spain was probably the best part of our tour...Madrid and Barcelona were great experiences, and the little town of Torrelavega was also definitely a highlight.
Reynaldo, our driver, has also been great on this tour. its great not having to drive after wrecking our van on the last tour. i gotta get going now tho, we gotta pick up some new merch and head to the show. i hope everyone is doing well!
Canada is the next stop with MUTE and HOPE. we'll post those dates when we get a chance.....
take er easy,
Jevin and MTS

After doing most of the tour, I (Gunner) was inflicted with a pretty nasty throat infection and Franky's got some serious wisdom tooth pain, so we've decided we have to cancel a few of the shows on this tour and head home to get all fixed up before we leave for Europe. We're sorry to anyone in Dallas, Oklahoma, or Missouri, and Macomb that was coming to see us, we'll get back as soon as we can!
The good news is we'll still be playing our show in Arlington Heights, which is a benefit show for us to replace our gear, where we'll also be raffling a Fender Bullet guitar! Come before 5:30 and you'll get $2 off admission and one free raffle ticket. See you there!

Current mood: thankful
Hey everybody!.. Just wanted to recap everything that's happened and give you the up to date status of what's going on. A few days ago we were driving to Seattle and lost control of the van just west of Spokane, WA... It went off the road, sliding sideways; the trailer hit a tree and ripped apart from the van, slowing us down considerably, before we hit another tree head on, spun around and landed on our side... We were all amazed that we came out of it completely unharmed other than a couple of bruises... Luckily all our personal belongings in the van, including our computers, were fine as well. But our equipment paid the price... The trailer hit the tree right where Jevin's bass drum was stored, smashing up one side and cracking it down the middle in a few places, rendering it useless... His china cymbal was also cracked, though luckily none of the other cymbals or drums were damaged... Mine and Dan's favorite guitars were both cracked down the body, probably unfixable, and Dan's amp was also damaged, though we're not sure how much yet, we just know that in the first show back it stopped working after a few songs... There are some other miscellaneous damages like..toolboxes, guitar cases, and some harsh cosmetic damage to our amps, but everything else important is fine. Kerry and Jason in Spokane set us up with a great van and trailer for a price we could afford... We got back on the road and yesterday Dan got the first guitar of his new Fernandez endorsement, a gunmetal blue Vertigo Elite... Thanks to the guys at Fernandez for hooking him up with that for a really low price... Of course the most astonishing part of this whole story, even more than our miraculous safety in the crash, was the outpouring of support we received from our fans and other bands... There's no way we could have ever gotten back on the road without everyone's help, the trailer and guitar completely paid for through donations from you!.. We got a few sizable donations, including a big one from our old friends Fall Out Boy, but most of the support came through $1-10 donations from our fans all over the world, and we can't thank you enough!.. As it stands now, we're still going to have to figure out how to replace some of the gear, but between donations that are still coming in and our February 10 show in Chicago having been turned into a benefit for us (Thanks Jason Silver and all the bands on the bill!) I think we'll turn out alright and able to continue on without taking time off to get back on our feet; as long as the van insurance comes through that is. =).. I wish there were some way to convey our full appreciation for you all literally saving our dream and allowing us to continue making music for you! I'll post some more pictures of the wreck, the gear, and the new ride as soon as I get a chance... If you'd like to help us out, please click the button below to make a donation through Paypal from anywhere in the world... Thanks again!

Today had some good and bad things. The bad news first: a lot of gear was destroyed. Although we can't be absolutely sure about the amps until we plug them in and try them, we do know that my new $1300 ESP guitar, Dan's $1000 PRS guitar, and Jevin's $800 bass drum were the big casualties in the accident. It also looks like my $1200 Marshall head was mangled but may be fixable.
The good news is that we were able to buy a van and trailer today, largely thanks to the generous donations many of you submitted. Thank you so much for that! We were hoping that we'd only need a trailer, but now it looks like we will have to keep asking for further donations. We really hate to do it but please spread the word and drop us a couple dollars if you can. (the donation button is in the first blog on the subject)
We'll post pictures of both the wrecked gear and the new transportation here as soon as we can.
As for the tour, we're going to make every effort to pick it back up in Bakersfield on Monday night, so cross your fingers and/or say a prayer that we'll be able to make it there safely and on time!
Thanks again for all the support, it is helping more than you can possibly realize!

Wow. We are all completely overwhelmed with the support we've received from all of you, both financially and with your sentiments, both of which are more than we ever expected!! It's hard to know what to say when something bad like this happens and then we feel such appreciation from all our fans and friends.
Today we woke up early and started calling around to find a new van and trailer. Our cabbie last night told us one place to check, which turned out to be the one that helped us to find a van at a dealer auction. He even got us hooked up with a good rate at a nice hotel for tonight.
We haven't yet decided on a trailer, but we've got some options to look into tomorrow morning before we make a decision. Hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to get our van and trailer all ready to go and find out if our gear managed to stay usable. There's still a good chance some of the amps and drums were destroyed based on how the trailer was packed, but we won't REALLY know how much damage was done until we get to a show and try plugging everything in.
On a personal note, I am a very independent person that hates to rely on other people, especially to ask anyone for money. It's harder than you can ever know for me to ask our fans and friends to just hand over your hard earned cash just because we're in need, but the outpouring of support has been a much needed reminder of just how much you guys care about us, either as people or as a band, or both. What has been donated so far definitely put a dent in our expenses, so thanks to all the people who sent anything.
Please keep posting bulletins, let anyone who likes us know what happened, and if you can pass us a couple bucks we really do appreciate every little bit we get.
I'll make sure to keep you all updated as much as I can. Thanks again, hope to see you all soon!
Gunner & MTS
UPDATE: Just when we thought everything was working out, we look out the window and see that we're in the middle of another snow storm. We'll have to play it by ear and see how the roads are by the time we get all situated. If we have to miss Santa Cruz we sincerely apologize, but we'll let you know when we know.
