Today, I won’t talk about the Nissan Cube.  There are 8 days left to the contest and it’s still very important to me, but I’m working for 3 days at the Montreal Fur Show and something is really bothering me.  A close friend of mine told me “Amelie, you’re a vegetarian and you’re for animals right and you are gonna model fur coats at the Fur Show? Isn’t it ironic?  He had a point. I’m modeling fur coats at the Fur Show, I’m realizing it right now.  I could tell you “Oh well, I got a make a living! Times are tough for everybody!”. 

But when I see the big business going on here, it makes me feel awkward and a little bit ashamed.  Why would somebody want to buy a coat made with the fur of a dead animal?  Worse, I realized that most of those animals are only kept for fur production so they are killed just for humans to wear them as coats! I’m talking about a living thing here! Might as well wear a coat made of human skin!  Just like the serial killer, Ed Gain, who used the skin of his victims to wear as costumes! 

I have to model about 20 coats and one of them is a full lenght chinchilla coat for which about 80 chinchillas were used to create.  80 chinchillas! How could somebody buy and wear this coat proudly? And me, I’m modeling those coats for stores and companies who are ordering their merchandise for the year.................

If only the meat could be used for nutrition, but I doubt that it’s the case.  Anyways, I don’t eat meat, not only because it’s bad for your health, but also because it’s against my principal to kill any living thing (I actually feel really bad when I have to kill an insect!).

Remember one thing:  the eco system is messed up, the planet is alive. Our resources are not unlimited, and many species are in danger or already extinct.  Eventually, the human race will disappear if we don’t change our way of life and our living habits.  This cannot stay like this. Dinausors will have lived longer than humans on planet earth!

Respect life because we are all united under one soul, one energy field. We are all part of each other and we are interdependent.  Break this chain because of your ego and you mess up this system and it’s the beginning of the end.  Like the world right now.  But it’s not too late.

I do eat a little bit of fish from time to time, it’s true.  But my philosophy is “Don’t eat what you couldn’t kill”. Maybe I could fish a salmon, but I would definitely NEVER kill a cow, a pork or a chicken... 

I don’t even eat dairy products!  But it’s mostly a question of health than a question of animals.  But I don’t want to encourage the industry of animal production.  I could go one forever because this is a subject that really fascinate me.  If only people knew that being carnivore creates so much pollution.  As I keep saying: “A vegetarian in a Hummer produces fewer carbon emissions than a meat eater in a Toyota Prius.”  If everybody in the world became vegan, there would be less pollution, more water, the grounds would be richer and we would make world hunger disappear.  People would be lighter, in a better mood and better health. Well,… I won’t say to much for now, I’ll leave that for an other blog lol

But now, I must say that I’m a little embarrassed to wear my leather coat.  Fur or leather, what’s the difference?!  I’ll never buy leather again!

So anyways, I decided to start my MN Blog today because, as you may have read already in my bulletins, I am one of the 500 finalists in Canada to win one of the 50 new Cubes that Nissan is giving away.  So if you are good in maths, yeah, you guessed right: I have 1/10 chance to win a brand new car!  And God knows I need it!  I’ve never had a new car in my life. My 1994 Mazda 323 is dying and is definitely not suited for my kind of life since I must travel a lot.  Not to mention the millions sounds that are coming out of my car and that have nothing to do with MN’s music! And the fact that lately, I’ve been seeing my mechanic a lot more often than my mother scares me a little… lol

But the greatest thing is that to this date, I’m ranked at #1 in the votes!!! So #1 of the finalists and there are 50 Cubes to win.  So let me tell you that I’m already seeing my Cube in the driveway!  And Paskal and I have big plans for Mythical Number and our new Cube.  We will brand it, use it to promote our web sites and our new album, bring it everywhere in our shows and promotion. It will be great visibility for us and for Nissan. I sure hope that the judges will see this opportunity as clear as Paskal and I are seeing it :)

So how does this contest work?  Well, the finalists have to create a canvas online to show their creativity and originality.  You can put videos, pictures, poems, art, anything you want depending on your talents and who you are.  You must express your true personality in your canvas and most of all, you have to show the judges that you have a big Social Network.
