Hi guys, We've been noticing that there's A LOT of spamming going on in this site. We feel it's not fair to our real fans who's comments get lost in all the junk and it's time to reclaim this Myspace for them. So from now on:

If you post a comment that doesn't relate to NYPC you will be blocked and deleted.

You have been warned!!!!

Also for this reason we have been updating our facebook page a lot more than this one, so if you want to know what's going on with our new album (finished!) then I would head over there until we have cleared things up a bit over here.

Do sign up for our mailing list too at http://www.newyoungponyclub.com/

Thanks

We are close to finishing the album and we'll definitely let you hear some of that soon. If you want to be the first to hear new music and receive free downloads then please sign up to our new mailing list (even if you signed up before) either here or at the new website www.newyoungponyclub.com .

In the mean time we've uploaded our cover of P J Harvey's Dress for you all. We've always been huge fans of her music and iconic image. She's definitely been a big influence on us and one you might hear coming through a bit more in the new album. If you don't know it we recommend you listen to her debut album Dry, which this track comes from. Or anything by her infact.

Enjoy!

Current mood:  contemplative
Australia and its people have been so good to us, that we felt we couldn't let any more time pass without mentioning the awful fires that have been raging in Victoria for the past few days. Our thoughts and condolences for all of your terrible losses, are with everyone in Melbourne, Kingslake and all of the other affected areas. It is shocking to think that people would actually do this on purpose. We just wanted to say that we were thinking of you....
In terms of Pony Club News, we are nearing the end of the writing period for our second album. We have a title, we have a brace of great new tracks which we think will surprise you and we have a burning desire to get back on the road and storm your local venues! Big changes are afoot guys. We hope you to excite you in the very near future.

Guys

You will know that some of the Ponies - Ty, Sarah and Andy to be precise - have been involved in the Crisis Consequences project, a cross-band/artist collaboration to produce a record ’Consequences’, and a gig at the Roundhouse back in March.

Crisis have announced the release date for the much-anticipated ’Consequences’, which features contributions from over a dozen rockstars including Beth Ditto, Paul Weller, The Enemy and Supergrass as well as the Ponies.

The record – to be distributed by Parlophone – will be available for download on Monday 21st April and set for physical release on CD and 7" vinyl on Monday 28th April.

Inspired by the parlour game ’consequences’, in which participants write a story or draw a figure without seeing each other’s input, each part of the song – drums, bass, guitar, vocals, etc – was recorded by artists unaware of what had been laid down before.

Produced by Paul Epworth, the track was built layer by layer to create a bombastic Phil Spector-esque Wall of Sound. With driving guitars from The Enemy, a Beach Boys bassline from Andy Rourke (The Smiths), vocals from Weller and Ditto, thumping beats from Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey, and a guitar-bending solo from Graham Coxon, the track is a fusion of Motown and indie rock.

Here is the full role of honour

-     Vocals – Beth Ditto, Paul Weller, Tahita Bulmer (New Young Pony Club), Pearl Lowe
-     Guitar – Paul Weller, Graham Coxon, Tom Clarke (The Enemy), Drew McConnell (Babyshambles)
-     Bass – Andy Rourke (Smiths), Andy Hopkins (The Enemy), Gaz Coombes (Supergrass), Andy Spence (New Young Pony Club)
-     Drums – Danny Goffey (Supergrass), Liam Watts (The Enemy), Sarah Jones (New Young Pony Club)
-     Piano – Ed Harcourt
-     Saxophone – Pete Warem (Acoustic Ladyland)
-     Percussion – Jamie Morrison (The Noisettes)

Three of Crisis’ own homeless members also feature on the track – playing guitars and piano – after successfully auditioning in an X-factor style competition overseen by Crisis officials.

The superband was put together by Crisis ambassador Pearl Lowe, following the success of the Pudstock benefit gig in January 2007.

The  live gig at the Roundhouse in early March. Consequences Live saw members of the superband – plus Dirty Pretty Things and Reverend & The Makers – perform a live and exclusive rendition of the track, alongside their own material.

All profits from the record will go to Crisis. The money raised will go towards supporting Crisis’ work with homeless people, including music and arts projects which enable our members to acquire new skills, gain qualifications, and find employment. These, consequently, empower people to transform their lives. Crisis believes that supportive learning and skills projects are essential to help homeless people fulfill their potential and find routes out of homelessness.

Consequences is proudly sponsored by Drinkaware the UK’s leading consumer facing responsible drinking charity, whose objectives are to positively change the national drinking culture in order to reduce alcohol misuse and minimise alcohol related harm.

The Consequences track can be pre-ordered here or by texting CRISIS to 78789 or visit www.7digital.com/crisis (UK only, text cost £1.50 plus normal operator charges. SMS is transaction only, downloads need to be redeemed online).
