Wow, we are still getting reviews for Masquerade 2, which is great! This was the first thing I ever got published, and so it holds a special place in my heart. Here is what the latest from In the Library Reviews had to say about me! Pomegranate was a very interesting story to read. Author Nikki Watson has written a wonderful story showing the lengths a good friend will go to help/save another. This story was formatted quite differently than the others in this anthology. Different but not in a bad way.For the full review, go to: http://www.inthelibraryreviews.net/anthology12.html#masquerade2 The Masquerade Books can be bought at Aphrodite's Apples website here.

I was talking to Heather, over at Aphrodite's Apples, and we were talking about the genres of books, and the placements that they have gotten over in Fictionwise. She said to me that Spiral isn't perfectly suited to Chick Lit, which I do agree with. Of course, without that as an inbuilt audience, it has been difficult to put it into a genre. Originally, Spiral was put into the romance genre over at Fictionwise. From next Monday, it will be shifted over to mainstream fiction, and will be treated as a new release all over again. This is a chance to get your cheaper copy of Spiral all over again! I'll post here about it again on the day or soon after, just so long as I don't forget. *grins*

I've been talking to Regina Paul a great deal lately, and recently, she did a pretty wonderful thing for me in her newsletter. This woman is great, and I can't thank her enough!
Normally under this section I review a book myself and post it here. However, this month I want to do something a little different. I'd like to introduce you all to a very talented young author Nikki Watson. I had the great pleasure of reviewing her first published novel entitled Spiral for Coffee Time Romance. You can read the review I did for Spiral here: http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/BookReviews/Spiral.html
All of Nikki's books are with Aphrodite's Apples, the other two are novellas published in the anthologies Regency Romp (Laudanum) and Masquerade, Volume II (Pomegrante).
If you like romances that have a touch of darkness, then you want to check these out!

Wow, Regency Romp is getting the best reviews yet, and as this was probably my favorite short to write so far, I'm actually very, very pleased to see it's continuing success with reviewers that it comes to. This is my second review from Kwips and Kritiques, the first one being my very first review I ever got, and that for Masquerade Vol 2 in October last year. Like that story, Laudanum is a dark narrative, not exactly a conventional romance, and diving straight into the BDSM lifestyle. This is what Jennifer had to say about it: Madam Moon's establish seemed the perfect place for Juliana to hide, even if the situation is less than ideal. Still, allowing her body to be sold in Madam Moon's establishment is infinitely better than the fate in store for her at the hands of her father's associate upon her father's death. But Juliana wasn't at all prepared to deal with a man like Frederick Barrington – not for one night, and especially not for the entire weekend he has paid the Madam for.
Nikki Watson's entry in Regency Romp is a little different, to say the least. This is not your typical love story, but her characters find love together, nonetheless. Frederick and Juliana exhibit clearly that love comes in many flavors, and lovers of both historicals and BDSM will love this little nugget as much as I did.For the full review, go here.Meanwhile, I have started on my second Of Elves and Men novel, and the title came quickly to me this time: Hunted. So far, I have introduced a death, a love interest, a masked ball, and a character you are supposed to hate. Still, it is not coming along as quickly as the first one, but after the brain drain I found after finishing Ascent, I think, perhaps, this is a good thing. *smiles* Again, for those who want to buy Regency Romp, you can go to the Aphrodite's Apples website and buy it here.

Wow, I have so many things happening right now. As expected, I did not stop fiddling with Ascent last night, and after only a few short hours going over it again this morning, the entire manuscript has been packed and sent over to the lovely ladies at AA. Phew. At least that temptation is all gone away now. I'm thinking I'm going to give myself a few days of rest and reward before jumping into the second novel of the series. If Ascent was partially based around the idea of the peasant revolutions in the late medieval period, the second book in the series will have more to do with witch hunts. Regency Romp has just gotten its first review over at Coffee Time Romance. This is what they said about me: Nikki Watson pens an erotic romance that captivates and interacts with alluring characters that dance within the pages. She engages the reader with a stunning journey that feels realistic at every turn. Juliana has heart and her emotions are believable in this story. Frederick has a certain enigma that keeps the reader spellbound especially when he is in the same room with Juliana and Isaac in this intriguing story. Read the whole review here.In addition to this, I'm appearing on Mandy and Michelle's Raven Blog this week. Regency Romp can be bought over at AA's website, here.

Hi all, I just received this review about my short story Pomegranate in the Masquerade 2 anthology, from Blue Ribbon reviews, saying: Waking from one heck of a hangover to a strange man in his bedroom, Patrick is flabbergasted when he is informed that the man is Hermes. Hermes explains that Patrick has been chosen to attend a Masquerade on the Isle of Arcadia. With not much of a choice in the matter, Patrick accompanies Hermes, only to be taken in by Hades and Persephone, for reasons more carnal than Patrick could ever imagine. However, when given the chance to leave the Underworld and return to his life on Earth with his roommate, will Patrick choose to stay with the woman he is convinced he loves, or will he return to the life he once knew? And will Persephone and Hades truly give Patrick an honest chance to leave?
POMEGRANATE was very fast-paced and filled with adventure. Patrick was very funny, and Persephone and Hades were very manipulative. Although the sex scenes in POMEGRANATE weren't as hot, they were still incredibly sweet and poignant. The plot was great, the characters witty and fun and I loved the fact that we get to read about Gods and Goddesses. I love mythology. Hermes was Hermes, always causing trouble wherever he goes, intentional or not. Masquerade 2 can obviously still be bought at the Aphrodite's Apples website, as well as Masquerade 3 where I also have a follow up to this story.

Haven't really posted here for a while now. Some people may be wondering what I've been doing. Well. Wonder no more, for here I am, and here I post. Other than doing an assortment of author chats this week, I've been writing the first installment of what I plan to be a trilogy called Of Elves and Men. I've been rather quiet about this, since I do keep mentioning writing that I've been up to and so often, it doesn't get to the finished stage, so we'll see about this one. I've given it more thought than most of late, so maybe this could be the next big one for me. Speaking of my last big one, my debut novel Spiral is now available at Fictionwise. Apparently, it's some big place for selling online books. So that makes me smile! The link for my book at Fictionwise is: http://www.fictionwise.com/servlet/mw?t=bookpreview&bookid=50891 and for a while at least, it's selling cheaper, at 15% off. Better get your copies while it's still new there! Spiral, of course, can still obviously be bought at the Aphrodite's Apples website, http://aphroditesapples.com/spiral.htm

I've just spent an hour talking to my lovely S.O. about the technical aspects of the Steam Punk genre. It is his favorite genre, and there really doesn't seem to be a lot of it out there, so when I came up with an idea I wanted to play with last night, naturally my thought was to come to talk to him about it. What has come out of that conversation is the basis of a trilogy, following the passage of magic, magicians and the secrets societies in each age, starting either in Medieval or Dark Age, across to Regency Period (this is intensely inspired by all of the Historical romance I have been stuffing myself on ever since Regency Romp came out, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!) and finally, into the Contemporary and slightly futuristic, where magic makes its comeback by taking over a global corporation. This last one is a stand alone idea that I've had and been working on for a little while already, so I feel quite inspired to greatness and many future books off this idea. Speaking of many future books, I am still working on Tidal Wave and its follow-up book, told from a different characters point of view, but even with the lovely Regina Paul's help, writing there is going slow, and I think my magical based story idea is somehow going to take precedence. Oh, it's a hard world. Not that any great deal of writing is going to get achieved this weekend, cause this weekend, I'm getting my computer formatted!

This is partially a sad day for me. I realised just as Regency Romp was set to hit the virtual book stands at Aphrodite's Apples, that I would have no further books about to come out with my name in them. Of course, this is book publish number three for me so far this year. But I'm modest. *blushes* It can, of course, be bought right over here at the website, and not only does the book have me in it, but it has work from Emma Wildes, Kayleigh Jamison, Katrina Strauss and new comer to our corner of the publishing industry, Jennifer Mueller. And now that I've come to this, I've realised that I'd better keep up with my writing, if I want to find I have another release out in the next few months or so. *bright grins*
