Hello,
I am involved in a collaboration with 4 other artists and guests(Benoit Leseure and others). We have made a record that we all love. rtist Mark Garry proposed the project and brought us all together to create. We have been in another band for a few years now called A=Apple but this is a totally new project with different artists. THe band consists of Mark Garry, Fabien Leseure, Karl Him, Eileen and Sean Carpio. Fabien recorded and produced it.
It is very spacey and soundtracky and will be released in a very beautiful vinyl package.
It is indeed a project from my Heart, Sending Letters to the Sea release our first record on 19.11.2009 20:00@St. Columba’s Church , Swords, Dublin.
Hope you are keeping very well indeed, Nina

So I have had an eventful week. I went to Abbey rd. to sing on the new Children in Need album.
It has been Beatlemania month and by chance I became a part of it by singing on All you need is love and recording in the very same room of the original satellite version.
There were a whole host of stars, Pink Floydians and Roling Stonesians and little 'ol me.
Pretty surreal and a great cause.
Adrian Chivers, who is producing it has a great attitude. He invited total unknowns who he found on myspace and such and whose voices he liked to be a part of it.
I had a tinkle on Mrs. Mills piano too so which was all very ghostly and sweet.

Also, my great friends Giovanna Ferrari and Marc Konings are going to be making an animation video for a song on my next album. This is very exciting as they are absolutely brilliant animators with vivid imaginations. I had to film my apartment for them to incorporate it in to the story.

I also made a video for Herm as he has just released the song Year of the horse which I sang on. I used only the camera and editing facilities on the computer.
His idea was a skype call video but I went a bit over board on the transitions and had some fun.

I just found out the terrible news that Road Records is closing!
Oh no. That is a very sad day for Dublin, Ireland and to all the foreigners who can only get Irish records at their store!
One of the nails in the coffin for a city possibly losing it's vibrancy and innovation if it's not careful or maybe I have a slightly distorted view from a distance.

I just wrote to to thank them for all the great help that they gave to me. One couldn't buy the kind of support that they gave to me and countless others.
I was so honored to have a single on their label and they made my lifelong dream come true by releasing me on vinyl.
I used to be so nervous going in to their shop until my artist friend, Mark Garry convinced me that they were extremely approachable and sweet.

Unlike Mark, I didn't buy enough at Road but I didn't buy anywhere because I was always broke.

On the up side, it means a change and somewhere new for the two innovators to plant another beautiful seed for the world to be a better place.
I have a baby who is 9 months old so I know the pressures too but it doesn't have to stop one in endeavoring and achieving great, creative and brilliant things.
I also know constant disappointments in career and business.
That side of things hasn't gotten better for me but I have found a way to embrace life in a positive way even if it doesn't always turn out how I had wished or hoped.
I have love and I am creative so that seems to sustain me in happiness for the most part.
This could be a great change and chance for Road to go on and turn a corner in an unknown territory.
It will definitely be a loss though to the lovers of indie music, especially small Irish releases. Road was the only place that people from outside of Ireland could get my releases.
I wish Dave and Julie and their little baby the best of luck in their future projects.

so indeed a new Christmas song was in order and a sweet guy called mp3 hugger asked me to write one for his Christmas 'Indiecater  christmas' compilation and so in between Caia's naps and moving house a couple of weeks ago, I wrote and recorded it at home among the boxes as quiet as I could be and sent it in a wave like a snow storm to mp3 hugger.
So I hope you enjoy it and the season. You can buy it here http://www.indiecater.com/..2008/11/an-indiecater-..christmas/

Zazou has moved on from the earth. He was a great inspirer and creative who inspired me and believed in me when nobody else did. He plucked me out of a tiny scene 12 years ago when I had pretty much no experience and brought me on tour in Europe to play with brilliant musicians such as Christian Lechevretel, who also sadly passed away this year and Harold Budd.

He had a wonderful mind and was the first creative to really challenge me. He recorded many of my songs and created new music around them. Only a few were released. One of his many talents was in making a voice rise to its best performance and he made it sound as beautiful as it could sound.

We kept in contact and I will miss his sense of humour and little anecdotes on life.
I really feel like somebody rare and special has passed through and left a trail of beautiful crumbs to be picked up.

He is in the stars now with Christian and I will meet them again in song and on a holiday from earth. I am very grateful to have known these two explorers of sound and life.

Hello good folk,
We are really looking fwd to playing again.
Caia Rose Lili Leseure is a magical creature who has brought new super powers to us...
it's all kind of crazy though too as I don't get a minute and we want to play lots of new songs so we need to practice.. I am sure it will all come together.. it always does somehow..

I NEED YOUR FEEDBACK..

for these gigs coming up, we are thinking of going all mellow with acoustic(AND ELECTRIC AND ORGANS TOO) and toys and beats instead of our upbeat loud rock songs.. for those if you who have seen us live before,
I would like to know what types of songs you prefer live.. the mellow spaced out ones or the upbeat loud ones.. or the sweet melodic poppy ones?..or maybe a mixture..?
Any Requests?
Thanks, Nanu nanu,
x Nina

Hello world,

Things are quite crazy in our house awaiting the birth of our baby. She is due this week on the full moon.
We have on gig booked in the Czech Republic which is two months away so we are hoping that she will be joining in on the drums/instrument of her choice by then..all is fine and dandy otherwise and we have never been so super excited in the snow and sun week in Berlin.

OTHER NEWS:

Vodafone have chosen us in some kind of Top 20 for free download to your phone/computer. This is for Vodafone customers only.
Even if you already have ’Somewhere Out There’, it would help us if you download it for free from Vodafone too. There is no need to do it more than once though!

There’s two ways to download the tracks. Vodafone customers can click the Live button on their phone and go to "tracks" on the music page. There you can search by artist or title but there’ll also be a direct link to the Bright New Sounds tracks. Secondly, online, you can log on to MyVodafone on vodafone.ie as you would to send webtexts or access e mail and click:
http://vodafone-ie.content.ftmd.sonynetservices.com/IE/en/album/static/020/847/node69_CCIE_LCen_ALBUM20847861.html

The download sign is the arrow pointing down on the right hand side.

There is a recent interview with me up on Cluas.com

Also:
Something to do on a Winter Spring day when you have nothing to do:
Tofu and vegetable pie :
I made a tofu, spinach, mushrrom and brocolli pie yesterday.
So easy.
Made the pastry from 3/4 mug of whitel flour and 3/4 mug of brown
flour.. some butter kneaded in and 3/4 mug of ice cold water, little
salt and pepper.. nice pastry.
Then fried in olive oil(not much oil) leek x 1, garlic(fresh x 2 or 3
cloves), mushrooms, brocolli..chopped quite small, spinach(roughly
chopped..added in some Dijon Mustard(1 or two spoons) green
pesto(enough to add taste depending on how much you want) and a small
tub of creme fraiche.. I then put this in a bowl and added the tofu
chopped up in to ther same pan and added some honey.. .. then I added
this to the vegtables..(you can replace the tofu with
chicken/sausage/anything you want)
I rolled out the pastry and baked the bottom of a dish blind for a few
minutes.. then poured in the vegetables and covered it all with a
layer of pastry..brushed with an egg
Cooked for 30 mins at 200 degrees..
Made some salad and home made chips in the oven to go with it.. Lovely..
