Memphis musicians will come together to celebrate Jim Dickinson on September 21st at the Levitt Shell in Overton Park. The Jim Dickinson Memorial Folk Festival is a free concert honoring the musical life of  musician and producer Jim Dickinson, whose credits include The Rolling Stones, The Replacements, Bob Dylan and Big Star. The 67-year-old Dickinson died On August 16th while recuperating from heart surgery.

The list of performers include many acts from a benefit concert that took place last month in Memphis.

The recordings were taken from their recent 2009 spring tour and include their performances from Tipitina’s in New Orleans, the Engine Room in Tallahassee, Revolution Hall in Troy, and Paradise Rock Club in Boston.

To celebrate the release, the band is offering 10% off the bundle purchase of the New Orleans/Tallahassee/Troy releases and you’ll get the Boston recording FREE. A benefit concert honoring Memphis music legend (and father of NMA members Luther and Cody) Jim Dickinson will take place at the Peabody Skyway on August 8th at 6pm. Jim Dickinson is a celebrated musician and producer in the Memphis community, with his credits include The Rolling Stones, The Replacements and Big Star.
