That’s the question we’ve been asked over the last couple months.

Well, as some of you may know, I was very sick for over a month and a half. In fact you can read about just how bad it was in the Intro to the last "Non-Issue".

Well because of that AND having to go through surgery late last year, things are pretty backed up...liked 200 Car Middle East Car Wreck backed up.

...Ok, maybe not that bad.

We always have the late interview here and there, but at the moment they are VERY late. It’s basically so messed up at the moment, I THINK we have to concentrate on putting up all the late stuff until I’m happy enough to start the next issue...and let me tell ya, the next one is going to be RAD!

That’s right. I used the word "rad."

So, PLEASE, excuse our mess while we sort things out over at nofimagazine.com AND nofiradio.com (we aren’t doing new episodes of No-Fi "Radio" for a month while we redesign the site). We WILL be putting up things that haven’t been up before so, yes, there will be plenty of new content while we fix things.

We’re also looking for new writers for 2008. ESPECIALLY people in LOS ANGELES who can review REAL indie music. We’re talking bands that would play The Smell, Pehrspace, The Scene, and the Silverlake scene. We are so behind in reviews at the moment it’s not even funny and it’s definitely an area we need help in.

So if you are a writer (think indie and tongue-in-cheek) or illustrator, please write us ASAP so we can get you started.

Hope all is well out there. Sorry for all the delays. We ain’t going nowhere.

I’ve also been co-hosting a podcast called the Burlesque Podcast. This week we interview Michelle Carr who was not only the co-creator of The Velvet Hammer, but also the infamous JABBERJAW!!! Go to www.burlesquepodcast.com to check it out or subscribe to it on iTunes (it’s free)!

Hey everyone!

We are very excited about the first NO-FI "MAGAZINE" show in years and as we just lost ANAVAN to a scheduling conflict, we were lucky enough to get "the new underground supergroup" NO RESTRAINT to play in their place. NO RESTRAINT features members of Tik//tik, Foot Village, Robin Williams On Fire, Kyle Mabson, and more!

We also added two short sets from two performers that may be familiar to longtime No-Fi readers, CREEKBIRD and the return of JIM McCRAY - Who was interviewed in the very first issue of No-Fi "Magazine" back in 1996.

LACO$TE and THE MONOLATORS are both a couple of my favorite local bands and are VERY fun to see live. I know LACO$TE will be doing something very different for their set. MINCEMEAT OR TENSPEED is a one-man "blasted out soundsmith" on tour from Philadelphia and I look forward to finally seeing him perform live with all those electronic instruments and pedals.

One of our very own writers ELANA BEAN will be DJing that night as well as DJ BUL!M!ATRON and KYLE MABSON.

This show will be recorded for NO-FI "RADIO"!!!

Best of all: IT'S ALL AGES!!!

Extra extra extra special thanks to SEAN CANAGE who helped keep this show together even when a band dropped out at the last minute.

Hey no-fi pals,

A LOT of people ask about submitting articles to No-Fi "Magazine" and I've been very bad about writing a good submission policy, choosing to mostly run stories by people I know personally.

That being said, WE DO want you to write to us about articles you want to do. We just are very cautious about what we choose to run because we are looking for people who we can count on to A) write something exclusively for us and B) not do it for the sole reason of promoting your friend's band. I get a lot of mail about people wanting to write reviews of their friend's band's CD.

That's really silly when you think of it. That's like Madonna's friend writing to me and saying, "hey, you know my friend Madonna? I'll totally write a review of her latest really terrible album for you to put in your next issue." We need people in L.A. to do record reviews desperately, but they have to be the records sent to us.

A Sense of humor, sarcasm, and irony is a MUST. We write about everything from bands, movies, games, politics, religion and while these subjects can sometimes be serious (even with magic make-believe stuff like religion), we try not to get TOO serious and always look at things from a different, strange, on non perspective.

When it boils down to it, we are a humor magazine that focuses on up and coming independent bands and entertainment that has been lucky enough to get to interview some "famous" people too who you wouldn't think would give us the time of day.

And I don't care if they are the most famous person alive ever (yes I'm talking about you K-Fed), if you aren't nice then we don't care. Nice people only. If they aren't nice and we DO interview them, it'll show in the interview and then everyone'll know.

So keep all that in mind when you're thinking about writing something for us. We're all super-nice people. We can get a little busy somethimes, but all of the writers try to keep on top of their mail and what-not. In the end our goal is to all help each other out instead of just doing things for ourselves and hopefully we'll meet some cool people along the way. :)

Hope to hear from ya',

From Sean's Myspace bulletin:

Seriously. i was walking down the street near wilshire/vermont and got shot in the back of the arm.

i dunno whether it was a bullet or a high-powered air rifle... in any case, it just grazed me and except for a bloody welt, i'm ok.

but in addition to being shot, i was robbed by two gunmen outside of faultline the other night!

to say this has not been my week is an understatement.

i'm waiting for the cops to show up now.

i'm okay, but i am realizing after two violent encounters in one week, that i have been seriously naive about the shit we have facing us out there.

more info soon.
