As you may have noticed- we have been taking a bit of a well- deserved
brake from life on the road after a year plus of straight touring to
promote CIKTP?

— and we have all been involved in a variety of musical side projects.
But fear not—NORTHERN STATE HAS NOT BROKEN UP. We are still very much a band and are tied together with a strong bond and plan to make more music all together very soon… so stay tuned!!

NEW YEAR
Hey everyone! Happy New Yr! Spero here! Long time, no write, dudes. I know some of you have been wondering what we've been up to..well, after touring non stop all of last year with Tegan and Sara and on our own, we have been taking some well-deserved time off, and it's been just lovely. Sprout has been non-stop knitting and has gifted me, Hesta Prynn and leeloo (her dog) w some fab hats (pictured here)..mine has a lil' pom pom on top and is too cute for words..

NEW MUSIC
We gals are also excited to update you on some musical projects besides NS that we have been working on..

Sprout and I recorded our first EP with our all-girl rock band Lucky Bitch this fall in Nashville, w/ the amazing Lesley Bailey. Lucky Bitch features me and Sprout both playing drums and guitar, as well as the always amazing Katie Cassidy of NS fame on lead guitar, and 3 of our other best gals. We basically eat mexican food, drink, rock, and bust into 5 part harmonies. Hesta Prynn has been busy making a record with some friends, called Hesta Prynn in Civil Shepherd. It's being A&R/curated by Sara Quin, features Tim Harrington from Les Savy Fav and Bear Hands, is being produced by Chuck Brody and Jon Siebels.  She just put up two songs and live dates (Philly, Austin) on her myspace page so check it out and leave her a comment cuz she's nervous to know what people think, do people like it, do they want more, etc???!!!!  www.myspace.com/hestaprynn.

Just wanted to take a minute to say how f'ed up it is that Prop 8 passed. I feel very embarrassed to live in a country that thinks it's okay to deny it's citizens their human rights. I'm going to protest at City Hall here in NYC this Sat, Nov 15th. Hope to see some of you there.

Hola everybody! Soy Spero!

Just writing quickly to let you all know that we are headed to Barcelona(!!!) where we will be playing the SONAR festival this coming Sat Jun 21. Or 21 Jun as they say in España. For anyone who doesn't know, LOGO is the gay channel owned by MTV and they have shown us a lot of love. If you are so inclined, please vote for our video 'Better Already' which was last seen at 6 on the LOGO Click List, which their website describes as "Total Request Gay!"
