I touched the ink on my paper,
a permanat scar i’m gonna carry forever to remember your arms
and though your eyes were december when you had june in your heart

and now your hands are so restless,
I never knew how you felt
and now i’m crossing my fingers, cause nothing else helps
and I don’t want to forget you, but I can’t help myself

I want to hang on even though you’re gone
and it wont be long, ’til winter’s gone again

oh, oh, I want to hang on even though you’re gone
and it wont be long, ’til winter’s gone again

[16 Mar 2008 | Sunday]
snow in march, in arizona none the less.  i have the heat cranked up and a cashmere hoody on.  an america’s next top model marathon is playing in the background, while i update a million excel documents before heading to scottsdale.

jenn and i are having dinner with hannah and two of her friends from oklahoma.  then the usual sunday night hanging out at my place.

i feel like the isolatory funk i have been in the past month and a half is passing.  i am going to vegas on wednesday with mom and pops.  we are seeing cirque de soile (spelling), which i am excited about since i have never seen it.  staying at the paris.  then we are heading back to phoenix and seeing some spring training baseball games.

i am doing a trip a month thru july. sacramento and san francisco in april (3rd thru 9th), florida in may (8th thru 14th), LA and newport in june (not sure dates), and vegas in july (16th thru 18th).  i just bought bette midler tickets for vegas in july (the night before my 27th birthday) and am uber-excited.  i know, gay gay gay, but i dont care.  she is the shit.

also am going to albuquerque sometime in late june/early july for jami’s baby shower.

oh and one of the most exciting thing about 2008 is disneyworld in early november!!!  if you wanna come, let me know.  will cost roughly 1000 dollars a person for 8 days and 7 nights, all meals included (although airfair is seperate).  the more the merrier.  right now it is just me and jenn.

So i have found a new passtime while driving. I have been addicted to backgammon on my phone while on the road. Now i read my gossip blogs courtesy of google reader. Dlisted, towleroad, and perez hilton mainly. I need to invest in some books on tape for my biweekly drives from scottsdale to prescott and back. As many of you know i dont have the best of luck while traveling by foot (key example: hurt elbow at magic mountain), so i wonder when my luck driving safe will end. I havent been in an accident since the infamous rear ender i found myself in thanks to the beta fraternity in norman circa 2002. (They were playing volleyball shirtless). But none the less i know the dangers of my distraction. I write this as i am making my way on loop 101 to a poker game in wickenburg so i obviously show no signs of wanting to change. Maybe i should also always have cigarettes while on the road. Books on tape and nicotine should suffice, right? I read a news story online today about text messaging causing a huge amount of accidents, hence why i bring this up. Eh. Boring blog, i know. Just was wondering if i am alone in the obsession to always multitask.

Love the energy in the south. I am walking the cobblestone streets of savannah and feel there should be fog surrounding my steps. Something else seems to be walking with me. Wish i had the ouija board with me. I would meet some interesting fellows. Has anyone ever seen "midnight in the garden of good and evil"? I fell in love with this city eight years ago when i saw it. Now i am here and it is all i have anticipated. Thank god for blackberries. I can write blogs while walking along the river in an old southern town.
[21 Jan 2008 | Monday]
what a wonderful day. i spent it catching up on episodes of cashmere mafia, ugly betty, brothers and sisters, project runway, and law and order:svu. kinda sad as the new episodes of some of those shows run out with the writers strike and all. did i ever mention that i crossed the wga picket line outside cbs studios in hollywood? well, i did, along with ricky as we were going to the price is right. we got us some NASTY glares. eh.

back to today. i even got out the extra sheets and made up the sleeper sofa in the living room so i could watch the shows on our HUGE 47 inch projection screen (hannah got a great deal). as i was laying around in my terri restoration robe, i drank martinelli's apple cider and ate popcorn. i read reviews of the newest films. i sent a few emails for work and i looked at cars online (i think i am gonna get a nissan versa, the car that hiro drove on heroes).

now i feel like i have wasted a day, but it was great doing nothing important. just a little bit of self care (justification). just how god intended it to be. respect the sabbath.

i also am planning out my spring trips....

february 6 thru 10 - savannah, ga - work conference plus some fun on the side
february 15 thru 19 - albuquerque
march 19 thru 21 - las vegas
april 3 thru 9 - sacramento for ASCYPAA and bay area with serena (i hope)
april 25 thru 27 - coachella
sometime in may - tampa/saint pete and boca - I KNOW, i have been saying i am coming forever and it keeps getting moved. i promise it is happening this year!

[14 Jan 2008 | Monday]
four months ago i agreed to do a half marathon with my dad, mom and sister thinking that i would spend some time training for the event. well, i ended up training for five days and now i am suffering the consequence.

the rock'n'roll marathon and half marathon go from downtown phoenix to the sun devils stadium in tempe. you run/walk and enjoy live bands on stages set up every mile or so. we started out strong (my dad and i did the half marathon together, my sister ran the half and got in at 1:29 and my mom did the full marathon, qualifying for boston again!) and were having a good time until the blisters started coming. first off, i wasnt wearing proper shoes and secondly, i have never ran or walked this distance in my life. my dad and i made it to the finish line just after 3 hours, which isn't great, but for us, it was.

now i am taking it easy, my legs are so fucking sore. i didn't know i had that many muscles. i am walking around like an old man... who wants to do it with me again next year?

we got rid of our christmas tree today. there was mold in the water and it was stinking up the apartment. sneaking it to the dumpster late tonight as long as the rain stops. since when does it rain in phoenix? first it ruined the meet and greet in december (sorry jami) and now it is just stirring up emotions.

i used to love to stand under shelter and smoke a cigarette while rain came down. reminds me of norman, oklahoma. truly living in the moment, even if i was killing myself.

something about the smell. it calms me. but rain in phoenix smells different. it doesn't have any sweetness. in fact it smells dry.

i need to buy an umbrella.

in no particular order...

once - everyone should see this little irish film centered around love and music and the love of music. the soundtrack is amazing and the fact that they captured so much emotion with a simple video camera is crazy. see it. see it.

juno - ellen page rocks. she was so creepy in hard candy and here her dry humor and raw emotion win hearts. add in allison janney and you don't need to say anymore. the movie is smart and funny and doesn't fall into plot cloches. thank god.

waitress - the doctor is hot. keri russell is soo good (i cant believe i said that). you want them to be together, but know they cant. i want to eat pies named like that. if you haven't seen it, you should. everyone who has, enjoyed it....

enchanted - guilty pleasure number one. the scene that reeled me in was when the sewer rats, roaches, pigeons, and mice help the princess clean. plus, susan sarandon is one hot witch and the prince is perfect. i hope amy adams wins something for this.

atonement - the cinematography is amazing. the acting is great too (which is hard to say since i hate kiera). i know a movie is great when i feel disdain for characters afterwards and boy did i hate that little girl.

the lives of others - great drama/thriller. the germans make some good films and this one was deservant of the best foreign film... it got me really angry, which is always good..

hot fuzz - thought i would hate it, since i usually hate action films, but this movie slyly makes fun of all those cop/action movies i hate. all with a straight face and not in the "naked gun" kinda way.

nightmare before chriistmas 3d - i never got to see it in the theater when it first came out, so this was a treat. danny elfmans music is so catchy, i still have some of the songs in my head.

charlie wilson's war - don't mind the overacting by julia and tom. phillip seymore hoffman, who i used to hate is great. the plot is serious, but light enough that you can laugh. mike nichols always rocks...

sweeney todd - once again, thought i would ahte it for the gore. but the gore is done so b-movie-ish that anyone can stomach it. johnny depp can sing, surprisingly and tim burton made sodheim proud.

granted i haven't and WANT TO see - no country for old men, lars and the real girl, into the wild, there will be blood, before the devil knows your dead, the savages, the orphanage, and gone baby gone.... so my list may have been quite different if i had seen those. which i plan to, soon.
[04 Jan 2008 | Friday]

so....

jenny replaced ricky for the los angeles escapades.  picked her up at the airport and we went straight to six flag's magic mountain.  we rode EVERYTHING.  the rides were the craziest i have ever been on.  a roller coaster that mimicked flying, one where you stood up, and all kinds of other wonderful gimmicks.

the day was great other than two mishaps.  the first being when we rode the "rafting ride".  we both got soaked and didn't completely dry for the rest of the day.  december in california is still december and we were cold...  the second mishap occured later in the day right after riding a rollercoaster.  jenn got stuck in the seat (the bar would not raise, it happened to the guy before her also) and impatient me jumped to the seats behind us and tried to make a quick exit.  it didn't go exactly as planned...  my shoe (which is abnormally long) got stuck when i was exiting and i fell flat down on the concrete.  i jumped up and ran off out of embarassment, although my arm was really hurt.  first aid and cotton candy followed, but do not think it stopped me from continuing to ride the rides.

back in hollywood we cruised sunset and hollywood blvd, tried to shop (they were closed) and got a bite to eat at saddle ranch.  i am so proud of jenny, she rode the bull (made famous in sex and the city).  i found a hair in my broccolli (after i had already chewed), so the meal was comped.

a quick stop at pinkberry in weho and then we went to stroll santa monica beach.  jenn collected sea shells and we posed for quite a few photos.  great times.

the next day we made our way to anaheim and checked into "hotel menage" which was amazingly campy with it's jumbo lava lamps infront of the entrance.  we rode everything a zillion times and all was well until we went on splash mountain and got soaked AGAIN.  jenny had to buy sweat pants and we got ponchos.  such a fabulous look.

disneyland is amazing in the way it makes you feel and act like a child.  we both got mickey and minnie mouse ears and wore them the entire time.

the next day was just as good except for the fact that the trip was over.  after a full day at disneyland and california adventure, we drove past the airport because we needed pinkberry one more time.  we caught our flight and arrived in phx shortly after midnight...

i worked for a few days and then my parents and brother came to town for the holidays.  hannah and i did a great job decorating if i do say so myself, and we had a great time being all together (besides rachel and tyler :(....)

christmas day we hiked camelback which was fun, but i couldn't climb to the top since my arm was (and is) still injured.

the next day mom, pops, and matt left town and i soon followed, on my way to saratoga, ny.

i worked at the Gatehouse extended campus outside of saratoga (which is a working horse breeding farm and is gorgeous) for a few days and got to get away.  i went down to nyc to hang with miguel.  took the amtrak which was fine.

migs and i ate at the mercer for brunch and just walked around soho, chelsea, the meatpacking district and the west village.  i said hello to sally fields at dean and deluca (i know i am cheesy) and we had a great time catching up.  miguel's friend, martin, met us at cafeteria for an early dinner and the evening seemed to come and go.

we went dancing around midnight at beatrice inn in the west village and had a blast.  the hospitable mister sanchez gave me his bed while he slept on the floor.

mt train left early the next day (new years eve) and i was back in upstate six hours later.  i am still confused why it took two hours to get there and six hours to return.  oh well.

will and i took the residents to bill wilson's house in vermont for a new years party and all had a good time, other than some awful singers who performed before they started playing the "prom-like" array of dance music.  chicken dance anyone?

new years day was as it should be.  lazy and full of snow.  we stayed in the entire day and went sledding on the farm in the afternoon.

i came back to arizona on wednesday and watched OU lose (badly) in the fiesta bowl.  i didn't go to the game, but mom, pops, matt and hannah did.

i know not much detail, but it helps me to remember when i write things down.  i am in AZ for over a month (YAY!) and then head to savannah for a conference.

other exciting news is that i get to go see bette midler in vegas!  sometime in mid march.  i love my parents.

hope everyone had a great christmas and a fabulous new years!  call me and let's hang out now that i am back in town/s.  prescott tuesdays thru fridays and scottsdale friday nights thru tuesday mornings.
