Once Just: A Balancing Act By Caitlin Clow – Bishop Carroll High School, Calgary AB From a city focused more on the oil industry then the arts comes a band who fuses tons of genres into a jubilee of energetic ear candy. Made up of Caleb Cummings (vocals/guitar), Mike Vandom (bass) and Chris Noble (drums), Calgary’s Once Just has recently released their self-titled EP and there is a song on it that’ll please everyone. Their sound is so unique: part rock, part reggae, and part rap, all blended together! “We play a lot of shows, and we learned early on, that if all of our songs sound the same, it’s pretty boring to play night after night,” explains Chris Noble. “So we change things up and try new things at our shows, and a lot of that transfers to our albums.” Inspired by a wide range of influences such as Nirvana, Bob Marley and Rage Against the Machine, Once Just hopes with their music they will send their listeners on a journey to discover other sounds as well, music that they wouldn’t normally give a chance to: “Hopefully a “rocker” will hear a song they like and then venture off into some of our more reggae stuff and gain an appreciation for reggae, and vice-versa,” says Noble. With already four full-length albums and a fifth on the way around Christmas time, along with the recently released EP, there is much to anticipate from Once Just. This summer they’ll be a busy group, touring about Canada and then hitting the studio in September to lay down some new tasty jams. Once Just’s music demonstrates that a person does not need to only enjoy one genre of music whether its rap, metal, pop, whatever. A brand new website was launched at www.oncejust.com today, check it out, become a member, and let us know what you think. The new site will make it very easy to find the content you are looking for, more content will be added daily.

Summer started just a couple of weeks ago, and Once Just has already put another 3000kms on the old odometer, the shows in GP, Edmonton, and Saskatoon were a blast, thanks to everyone everywhere that came out. We've got another bunch of shows in the next week, including a Festival out by Sylvan lake, and 2 shows for the Calgary Stampede, so if you live in Alberta, there is really no excuse for not having seen us play this summer.  We're also making stops in Winnipeg and Golden in July, so everyone begging for a Winnipeg show had better show up!! All the shows, as always, are up at www.oncejust.com on the very first page, so check em out, and come on out to a show...another handfull of concert announcements will be made late next week, so keep coming back to check.

Thanks to everyone that has been voting for us for the last few weeks on the Vibe 98.5 site, we have now made it to the semi-finals and there are only 6 artists/bands left.
