I’m feeling this EP. Favorite tracks are “Belief”, “Electric Soul”, and “Full Step” -- but all are cool. Might have liked to hear some more upbeat tracks to mix things up, but still this is a nice release. I look forward to hearing more off of Ubeat.

I dig this compilation. "Belief" from Reggie B is so hard yet melodic. Sounds like something E-40 would be on for some reason. "Full Step" is nice head nodder, feel a Detroit influence in it. I like "bethink" from Busy alot. Those are my favorites.

The Kind of Electronic, Cinematic Soundtrack by GD
78"14' / 256kbps
download

The kind of electronic, cinematic soundtrack you'd listen to while... mixed by GD
An another great result of the
Brownswood
xmas mixtape swap. Great opportunity to share
some of your favourite tunes and in return be exposed to some new music by your
swapshop partner.
Here is a little blurb about this wonderful mix by GD.
"For this mix i picked tunes evocative of a cinematic theme that ranged from
classical to jazz and electronica. Something that you can drift off to whilst
playing your own movie in your minds eye.

Blade Runner Main Titles - Vangelis

possibly the greatest science fiction movie ever made and possibly the greatest
soundtrack - for years the full soundtrack was only available as a bootleg but
fortunately last year a 3CD special edition was released - if you haven't got it
you need it.

Peace Piece - Bill Evans

first heard this on BB years ago - one of those tracks that just mesmerises you,
beautiful music, i definitely love the deep piano work on here.

II. Lento E Largo - Tranquillissimo - Henryk Gorecki

this was recommended on brownswood years ago as a need and it proved to be an
excellent blind buy - there is a tragic tone to this but yet still somehow
uplifting - is that even possible!

Sons of the Silent Age - Philip Glass

I like Philip Glass alot, especially his soundtrack work for Koyanatski (sp),
this was taken from an LP of classical interpretations of David Bowie's Low (berlin
period) LPs

Autumn Leaves [Irresistible Force Mix Trip 2] - Coldcut

probably too much of a 'chill-out' chestnut now BUT i love it

Movement 5 - Carl Craig & Moritz Von Oswald

this LP knocked me out last year

Launch Approval - Vangelis

Love Theme - Vangelis

as above love the analogue synth action

Watarase - Fumio Itabashi

another track first heard on BB - i remember the next day everyone had been
blown away by this track, still only available as an expensive japanese import
but worth the money

Cosmic Messenger - Jean-Luc Ponty

LOLzz to the Doc - i find a lot of Ponty's stuff a bit hit and miss but this is
an essential track
Tears in Rain - Vangelis

originally this was going to be the mix closer esp. as it has Rutger Hauers
final speech from the movie overlayed where it discusses what it means to be
human

Cristo Redentor - Donald Byrd

but then i remembered it was a xmas mix and pulled out one of the best religious
themed tracks i know - i usually go for the Duke Pearson version. this version
is equally as good and is arranged by Pearson..."
 Enjoy!

Live From Copenhagen by Marc Hype & Jim Dunloop ft. Adl
44"06' / 160
download

Here is the 100th mix of
monotape.com by Marc Hype. Born in Berlin in '73,
has been deeply involved with Hip-Hop culture since 1988 and has never hesitated
to look beyond the turntable platters for inspiration.

Early releases with the now defunct Cheeba Garden at the start of the 90s,
winner of the German ITF DJ Mixing Championship of '98 and '99, countless
mixtapes, contributions to compilations, remixes and battle tools, founder of
the DJ collective, Phaderheadz as well as a solo debut album in 2003 featuring
guest appearances by Masta Ace, Souls of Mischief, Mr. Lif, Zion I, Akrobatik,
Killa Kela and the Beat Junkies.

Marc Hype's sets are perfectly complemented and enhanced by the presence of his
genial partner in crime, Jim Dunloop, a trained classical pianist. Funk breaks,
rock loops and old school Hip-Hop beats flow together with the the funky piano
live. Their unique concept brought them to almost every country in Europe + the
USA, Japan, Australia, Russia and Israel!

Marc Hype combines his proven skills on the decks with a natural ability to pick
the right tune at the right time. Together with Jim Dunloop, they keep the
dancefloor on full pitch.

Enjoy this great example of their live performance from Copenhagen.

Sorry no tracklist.

1. We Be Groovin (Original Mix)
2. We Be Groovin (Instrumental Mix)
3. We Be Groovin (Tal M. Klein remix)
4. We Be Groovin (Umbo & Pips remix)
5. We Be Groovin (BMD remix)
6. We Be Groovin (BMD main vocals cut remix)
7. We Be Groovin (Acapella)

"There are a few words that can best describe this group of musicians: They all know how to groove! Each one of them in their own special sound! We Be Groovin is the first EP that Onur Engin releases with Timewarp Music and the beginning of a great collaboration that has only one thing to promise. Great Groovy Music. Boogie beats are fully combined with raw electronic elements and some nasty vocals from Raw Theory! We be Groovin is presented in 6 different versions and one bonus acapella mix. Two of our smashin musicians, BMD and Umbo & Pips and fantastic partners like Tal M. Klein joined forces and give us their own version of the track. BMD goes funky till he drops while Tal M. Klein keeps up the beats with his unique dubby funky sound. Umbo & Pips once again intend to shake some bodies with their excellent funky broken beats version!"

Regal, the one-time original founding member of both The Wiseguys (Wall Of Sound) and Bronx Dogs (Heavenly/Marble Bar), two of the UK's most revered underground acts of the 90s

After touring Australia in early 1997, Regal left The Wiseguys to form 'Bronx Dogs'. They released the classic B-Boy anthem, "Tribute To Jazzy Jay" in Dec'97 and went on to release 2 more club classics - "212(The Weya Funk)" / "Mixed Blood (Mambo roc')". They also released 2 albums, "Three Legged Funk" in 2000 (Heavenly Records) and "Enviro" 2001 (Marble Bar Records).

In 1998 DJ Regal launched his record label, 'Marble Bar', putting out Bronx Dogs and others, over a span of 15 12" singles and 7 albums in 3 years, concentrating on funky Hip Hop n Dancefloor tracks.

In early 2002, after touring with the Australian 'Vibes On A Summers Day' festival & settling in Oz, Regal remixed the ARIA award-winning single "Karma" by Melbourne's 1200 Techniques.

In July '04 Regal began his long-term residency at Sydney's massive "Boogie Down" night (at Candy's Apartment). This night proved Regal's abilities to rock the house to the absolute max, with dynamite 2hr sets that not only encompassed Hip Hop n Funk, but Nu-Soul, B-Boy Breaks and Disco. From this night, Regal won 3-D magazine's (50,000+ copies per wk, Sydney & Melbourne) Hip Hop DJ of the year award for 2004.

Now back in Sydney, Regal has just finished remixing All Good Funk Alliance, having recently completed recording his debut solo album back in May & is now starting on his 2nd solo album tracks as i write - no slowing down for this old dog! Most recently Regal has been nominated for Best DJ in the national inaugral Australian Dance Music Awards and has made the final four .

Regal also hosts his own weekly radio show, "The Musiquarium", on Bondi Fm, spinning Soul, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Latin, Electronica, Leftfield and other goodies, from 2-4pmevery Friday. This show is available to listen to, worldwide via the web (www.bondifm.com).

Regal’s debut album LOOP DREAMS is set to be released worldwide through UNIQUE RECORDS in march/april 2007.

Encompassing Regal's Hip Hop roots and a fresh batch of dusty breaks, this DJ set delivers solid beats with a great blend of Funk-Fusion samples & deep grooves.
