So after all some of you urged me to get my squirrel bite checked out I did.
I don't have rabies after all!
HOORAY.
But seriously, after hearing all the squirrel bite stories and how they can give you diseases, I was whiggin' out and kept thinking "Nah I'll be ok" - then I kept having dreams about a getting a growth on my arm, so I asked reception downstairs where there was a medical centre and I ventured there.
Upon reaching the medical centre and explaining my situation, the woman at the front desk was going red in the face because she was trying not to laugh.
So I said to her: "You can laugh, I really don't mind, it is hilarious I agree"
- and with that she proceeded to laugh like a banshee and knee slap like a witch, which then in turn stirred mystery around me and my squirrel bite problem. I didn't mind that she was laughing, I really didn't but I didn't expect that kind of reaction from her. So naturally I was the butt of all jokes with the medical staff, I had to smile and pretend I didn't care. It's not like I asked the squirrel to bite me, or provoked it.
Anyway, the bitch made me feel like a total dick but now that I think of it, it's pretty funny.
She smiled at me with a
oh.you.poor.thing.but.this.is.too.hilarious.for.me.not.to.laugh
kind of smile and then led me to the doctor. I sat down he smiled and then said:
"It's okay, it's good that you came to get this checked out, you never know what kind of diseases certain types of rodents can carry"
- this made me feel a little bit better. The most hilarious thing happened next though.
I had to fill out one of those forms where you tell them what you are allergic to and what not, the general background information. So I get the form and in the "ethnicity" box he had already gone ahead and given me a form which had the "LATINA" box computer automatically ticked. I just started laughing loudly, to him I was laughing for no apparent reason but for me I was laughing because it's the 3rd time I've been mistaken for being Latina. It just so happens that nearly every country I go to, minus Europe, I am mistaken for being a local.
I was like: "uhhhh, cool but I'm not Latina"
and he's like: "Oh really, I thought as soon as you walked in here you were a Latina girl" -
: "Ha ha, no I'm actually from Australia, I don't even live here" -
then he said: "Oh really Australia?"
- then he gave me his best Australia accent to which I just nodded and smiled.
So conclusion:
No rabies, just gave me some special wet wipes to treat it with and told me to wrap it with the wipes. It DID give me a bit of a scab though. I have been trying to get a good enough picture to post it here but it's not showing up in the photos properly, it just looks like I am taking photos of my arm for fun.
Sometimes I think my life should be a sitcom. It's like I have a magnet in me that attracts all type of weird/hilarious situations. I feel like I'm really a SIM (you know computer game) and someone is making these strange things happen. It's okay though I don't mind it, life would be WAY worse if I was "normal" (what the definition of that is, I have no idea) The episode of Spongebob Squarepants, where he reads a book to become normal is a pretty good representation of it I think - I like the strange experience.
So in blog worthy news!
We are ahead of schedule with mixing. We have completed the majority of the mixing and it is just tweaking from here on in! This is SO exciting, only tweaks left to do. So, last night we took the mixes and we decided to drive around in the car with them on. We took down notes after listening to each song and listen to them over and over and kept writing our notes and initial thoughts. We have it all documented and we are going to address the notes today.
It has been such an enjoyable experience. When you work and surround yourself with good/positive people and people that genuinely give a shit about what you are doing, it makes things so much easier to do and totally enjoyable. It takes away the whole "stress factor" which is something you all know I experience on a daily basis. If you think to much about it, you send yourself into the ground, it's all about doing what feels right. I can confidently say that at the end of this week I will have a copy of the album, mixed and ready to go in my hands. And we all know what I am going to do then right? Have a nervous breakdown and cry. I honestly think that the moment the files/discs hit my hands/computer or whatever I am going to be able to breathe and cry ha ha ha ha.
I sound like SUCH a tool bag but it's the truth. Just know that the record is nearly done and we are very much on the way to starting the next album cycle. I've learnt so much from this record and I've written so much since the record has been underway. It's like learning all this has opened new doors for me, not only in the mind. I hope you can welcome this record with open arms ha ha. Anyway, I better go - this is a long arse blog. I promise next one, will be purely pictures of my time in LA. Which will pretty much be photos of me with Milk to cute puppy, the mixing studio and pictures of the hills.
Love to you all. PS: Julian Casablancas is AMAZING you should all definately purchase his album.

So, a Squirrel just bit me.
I HAVE JUST BEEN BITTEN BY A fucking SQUIRREL!
Another animal I can add to my "feared" list.
What is with cute, furry, adorable animals biting/lunging at me?
I honestly didn't do a thing, didn't provoke it, wasn't teasing it.
I was on my way back from the mini-mart, trying to get a temp phone.
Turned to walk into the hotel door and put something in the bin, that just happened to be on the edge of a bush. BAM out of nowhere a darling little Squirrel and here's me "awww aren't you cute" - then "squeak" fucking *crunch* bastard bit the back of my hand. Squirrels are clean here right? I'm totally scarred now. Animals + Amandah just not happening. Maybe I was an evil animal in my past life? Or maybe animals just detect evil in me? It's like the Koala. When I was 8 and we first moved to Australia, my family and I got yearly passes to Dreamworld.
Now, as you know they have "Koala Country" is it still called that? Anyway, it's a wildlife section. Before moving to Australia, I had previously seen many documentaries on Australia's native animals. The Koala was always an animal I wanted to hold and get a photo with, I thought they were the most adorable, sleepy things on the planet. So finally I went to Koala Country and there was this adorable Koala sleeping on a tree, I'm just watching, then it starts moving. Starts scratching and clawing the tree it is on and screeching like it was being attacked, grunting like I never knew was possible and then just pisses down the tree. My eyes were wide. I have never looked at a Koala the same way, nor will I ever hold one and get a photo.
Also the horse story. I think I have told you this before. I was 5, we were at one of my Dad's work parties. His boss had these cute, horses. Well: they weren't cute but they were beautiful. So we are standing near them, minding our own business, there are about 6 kids standing around, horse comes straight over to me. I'm standing there looking up at it, scared shitless, knowing I can't make sudden movement because I might scare it. Dad's boss yells over "Don't worry, it's not going to hurt you, just wants to look at you that's all." Yeah, cool, bites my fucking arm doesn't it! Out of all the kids there it decides to bite me, the one minding my own business, while the other kids were being loud shits. I think I even said "Please don't bite me."
Siiiiiigh. I'm just going to avoid all animals from now on. What the fuck? I can't believe I've just been bitten by a squirrel! - at least I'm pretty sure it was a squirrel, oh man vomit, What if it was a giant rat? I'm pretty spaced out right about now, ewwwww WHAT IF IT WAS A GIANT RAT? Ewwwwww. No, no, no, too cute to be a rat. It was def a Squirrel or something along those lines. Ah, I don't know. Oh my god, I don't know.
I'm mental right now. I'm going to sleep maybe.
Also, just totally different my Taxi Driver this morning had the NICEST EYES I have EVER seen. I swear, the man was old and it's creepy that I'm even saying this, but he had big blue puppy dog eyes. Really young eyes in comparison to the rest of his face. At the beginning of the trip he gave me a High 5 - because I had directions on how to get to where I am staying ha ha. I thought everyone would have a GPS installed by now, not the case. Nice guy though, much better than my last NYC cab driver who watched me fall in a ditch of ice. Would have been funny to see, but it was too cold.
Eh, I'm rambling now. I feel weird though, a squirrel bit me. A squirrel BIT ME. Always me. Always me.

Made it to the hotel safe and sound. I like it around here, I fit in. I look similar ha ha. I've been here for about an hour and I have already been asked if Fernandez is my father. Which is AMAZING! I had to let the mini-mart guy down though, I am not his daughter.
I am super spastic jet-lagged right now, my head is doing space things. It is only 8am though so I have to make it to at least 8pm tonight. I know that by the time 12 lunch time rolls around, I'll be struggling to stay awake, lucky I have Nickelodeon ba ha. Start finalising mixes on Wednesday, so until then I am going to go to this amazing shop I saw downstairs. It wasn't open but I saw, gold, sequins and glitter. I'M THERE. I'm sorry I can't spell. I purchased a box of chai tea, forgot to buy honey, remembered to buy soy. I need to put it in the fridge.
I'm going. But HI! And yeah. Cool. By the end of this week, I'll have a finished copy of the record in my hands, I can't wait to cry ba ha ha ha ha. Seriously. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Good Morning!
I had about 10 dreams within my dreams last night, I am trying to make sense of them via google and dream interpretation. I also keep staring at words that I have typed for too long and thinking they are not spelt correctly, did that sentence even make sense to you? It made sense in my head and now I am reading it back and....I don't know what I'm talking about right now eh. I leave for LA on Monday! Which means Julian Casablancas is also around the corner, this makes me very happy. What I am most happy about though is: after LA - I will be able to hold a copy of the album (minus artwork) done and dusted completely. Do you know what this means? This means I can finally breathe and get rid of the ball of anxiousness lodged in my stomach.
What have you all been doing then? On the weekend got to catch up with some good people, it was nice. Surrounding yourself with positive people is good for the soul. I don't really have that much to report, nothing odd or controversial happened to me this weekend, well apart from being called a "Racist Bitch" by a 9 year old paddling a surf board in a lagoon whilst screaming he was a "retart" - How I am a racist bitch I will never know. I think he was trying to slander me and got the meaning of "racist" wrong. Anyway all I can remember thinking was *Drrrrrrroooooowwwwwwwn* Evil right? I was having those scenarios too ha ha. I should go before I get myself into trouble, from who I don't know. I just need to go. Hope you are all well.

I am happy :D
I got my laptop back today. There is nothing wrong with it, turns out it's my USB internet that has been fucking it up and it's a common problem. So this means: I have my computer back but cannot go on the internet on my own computer. I am stuck with OLD computer, that is slow and SO unbelievably inconvinient. Ah well, at least I HAVE the internet. WHAT WOULD I DO IF I DIDN'T? Seriously, I feel disconnected from everyone when I have no internet, which is NOT a good thing.
As I have expressed previously, I am super excited about seeing Julian Casablancas live, so much so that I have been dreaming about it. Having bad dreams though, the ones where you are dreaming you are going to the show and you lose your ticket, or you can't find the venue, or you sleep in and miss the whole show. Anxiety already? Maybe it's because LA has always freaked me out. It's so big, it's okay when your friends are there but alone, it's very lonely, duh.
Last night though, I had a dream that I won a competition to have dinner with Jason Mraz ha ha, so thought nothing of it, then everywhere I went today Jason Mraz was playing. The neighbour started blasting "I'm Yours" - went to Robina shopping centre and the shop I was in started playing it, got into the car the radio was on playing him, turn on tv when I got home and he was on. I hope this isn't an occuring thing. I only just got over Rod Stewart following me. I had the same problem with Rod Stewart, HE WAS EVERYWHERE! EVERYWHERE! It only stopped about 3 months ago and it was happening since my last year at high school. Mind you, now that I have mentioned him I have a feeling he will be back.
For now though, it's Jason Mraz - is that even how you spell it? I then remembered that one time Timmy and I were outside the Camden Barfly in UK, waiting to go onstage when we played with Bloc Party (ha ha name drop, I'm a dick) it was for the MTV Gonzo tour and this strange man comes up to us and starts showing us how to do magic tricks. This was about 2 years ago by the way, so we are nodding at this guy like "yeaaaaah, oh wow that's awesome" - then our A&R guy in the UK goes, "Uhhh wierd that was Jason Mraz." Ha ha ha ha, so there's a fact for you Jason Mraz knows how to do odd magic tricks.
I need stop talking about Jason Mraz ha ha ha. Let's talk about Prince instead yeah? I think you ALL know how much I LOVE him, so maybe no? Let's not talk about him. Well, I need to get back to mixing job at hand and NOT being on the internet on Friday night. Then again i'm into the internet.

Okay so,
NME (totes name drop LOLGASM) told me on twitter that Julian Casablancas will be playing a residency in LA when I am there! DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM? I think I am going to hyperventilate and die. He has been my magical unicorn number 1 since I was the tender age of 13. Want to know a secret? I cried when I found out off The Strokes message board that Julian was getting married! Ha ha, I searched for hours trying to find confirmation and when I did my heart shattered into a million little pieces like in the original Charlie & The Chocolate Factory when the gigantic chocolate teleports in a million little pieces to the television. I'm a loser. Apart from that I have been in love with every piece of music that has involved Julian Casablancas. So naturally, the first thing I did was find out where I can buy tickets.
Now, my question is: Who lives in LA and wants to be my friend at this show? I am totally serious, I don't want to go alone, well I don't think I want to go alone, if no-one is going to come with me, then I will go alone but I thought I'd ask here and everywhere else I can ask ha ha ha. So, if you are going and you read this then can I come with you? Ha ha ha. But, seriously. Send me a message or something, I will be lonely when I'm there and will need someone to at least high 5 in the street.
This news has lifted my week :D I'm all heppy and excited and cannot wait to get to LA. I know that he is bound to do an Australian tour because he totally loves it here, but knowing how things work, I won't be here, or I'll miss it by 1 day and then be totally devastated. I am excited about going to LA now.
I have been listening to mixes back and am totally excited and happy. We are now working on the artwork which my sister who works at Mathematics is doing, getting all ideas through and collaborating which is all very exciting :D Things are moving along like a steam train ba ha. Remember what I said though right?
Quality over everything.
I have also been occupying myself with more dinky little demos, well up until last night when my macbook finally got dead on me. I have been ignoring the unexpected shut downs for a bit and then my computer finally gave in. Luckily I backed everything up, the Mac store now have my life, and I have to wait A WHOLE WEEK to get it back. I have to say I was sad when the boy genius pryed my computer away from my hands, but I have to get it fixed. So 7 days without my computer means going back to PC :C Mega sad groper face. Not that I hate PC or anything, it's just I am so used to having my own computer and being able to watch movies in my bed and everything.
This is seriously going to be a challenge for me.
It's like I could never do the 40 hour famine because I like food and am a fetty boombah, me doing the 40 hour famine was eating 3 bags of Barley Sugars which totally makes the whole thing irrelivent anyway. They tell you that if you don't give up food you can give up something else. So I am looking at this as a way of redeeming myself for many failed attempts at the 40 hour famine all those years ago HA HA HA HA. Oh dear. But this way I actually HAVE no choice but to endure it because I actually don't have access to my computer.
I have to say, I am EXCITED for this weekend though. I am sitting on facebook as I type this and talking to one of my favourite people ever, these people I name: Loverfaces. If I call you a Loverface it means I either think highly of you or just like you a lot as a person. So this Loverface, has just informed me that there will be a Balinese ceremony on the Gold Coast this weekend and that we are going. This is great! I need some culture and to get back to my roots, as you can guess this Loverface is also Indonesian. I am SO excited to see him too because I love him :D Then on Sunday, I get to test out my cooking skills alone and make something for our "So You Think You Can Cook" style picnic.
I've been taught how to make what I am making for it, but haven't done it without someone guiding me. I am scared ha ha. If I do this right, I get a Gold Star and am one step closer to one day getting married ha ha ha. I know all this talk of marriage must freak you out but I'm half joking and half serious. I just want to be able to cook and sew so I can feel domestic. I think it's jealousy because my Mother is quite possibly THE MOST amazing cook. She just has this way of doing things, I make something and it's fine, then she makes something and it is AMAZING. It's like she has magic powers, or magic spells or magic in her hands.
Either way I know that when other people make dishes that my Mother makes, I never usually like them as much. I want to be able to cook at least 1 dish that tastes the same or simialar to hers. HA HA! Probably never going to happen but I can dream right?
Well, I need to go. I have been crapping on for a bit now but I have to admit I'm in a great mood :D Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging is on tv in half an hour. I LOVE THAT MOVIE. Then I am going to sleep and hopefully dream about being married to Julian Casablancas and him singing "Under Control" to me ba ha ha ha.
Love to you all! XXXXXXXXXXX

HELLO HELLO!
Haven't written in a while, well maybe a couple of days? Mainly because I have had a pretty hectic weekend, which is a good thing, so much better than doing nothing. I moved rooms with the help of my friends the other day, trying to move a big bed from one room to the other in a narrow hallway, without scraping the walls proved to be very difficult. We managed though. I know have a walk in robe in which I have a section dedicated to my "Razzle Dazzle" pieces ha ha. I'll have to take a photo so you know what I mean.
Also, I have been working through mixes this week and I have to say it's going super well. You always get a bit scared in mixing, I find it's a process that can really shape songs to what they are going to be, but because I have been living and breathing this album since January pretty much it's difficult to let go of things to embrace new. I think I've listened to these songs SOOO many times, so I am used to them the way they are, even though I know things change down the line.
I leave for LA next week to finalize and finish everything, which I am super excited about. I know that I have been saying the album is coming, the album is coming and singles are coming, just know they are but it's taken longer than expected. We want to make sure that this album is exactly how we want it before putting it out there. Quality over everything. I wouldn't dare put something out that wasn't exactly what we want. Quality over everything. It's coming, just making sure it's right. I am so excited though. New songs, playing shows, new set list ha ha. It's one thing hearing the songs back but it's whole different feeling being able to play those songs. I never though this 2nd album process would be as weird as it has been.
Well, not weird just different, of coarse. You don't think it will be like that but it is. You go into it and come out different, well I did anyway. I've said this before, but it's the time when you question EVERYTHING. What you want from this. The one mistake I made with this record was spending too much time worrying when I should have just embraced things automatically. Once I did embrace the new it became natural. I've always been a big believer in not forcing songs and this record has taught me to believe in that even more so than before. In the beginning process I was trying to write, even though it is something I am against and once I stopped freaking out and trying to write, it all flowed through.
I've been inspired by so many people with this record. People I worked with, hung out with, met and they were all from totally different worlds to me. Was good. Anyway, I am listening to mixes now and smiling. I am seriously so excited. I've got excitement butterflies ha ha. I'm lame.
Which reminds me: I watched UP yesterday! It is the most adorable movie ever. I cried at least 3 times during the movie. Bless, it's seriously SO good. I think I'm going to watch it again and again. I think it might even be my new favourite movie. My current favourite is Rattatouille and UP just so happens to be directed by the director as Rattatouille ha ha. Trust. I have to go though. I am busing it to the ocean today, I need to de-stress a little bit, be outside, away from my work place which is my house.
Love to you all, hope you are all well. XXXXXX

In my attempt to learn how to cook so that one day I can maybe get married, my friends and I decided that we should host our very own "Come Dine With Me" night.
Now I know last post about this subject one of you said that you thought I would be a woman that "stands up for what they believes in, believes in equality and such and such so I wouldn't care about getting married" (something along those lines anyway) Yes I am all about those things, but I would just also like to know how to cook well & sew. There needs to be a domestic side to me for when I feel like being domestic, the whole getting married thing is a half joke but could one day, one day be serious ha ha ha.
Anyway, "Come Dine With Me" is a show in the UK that surrounds itself around usually 5 complete strangers that each need to cook and host their own dinner party at their houses. So, each person goes to each other persons house, they give each other secret ratings and at the end of the episode they find out who wins the 1000 pounds based on the scores they have given each other. Well we aren't going to follow this exactly, we are mainly doing it so I can learn how to cook food that isn't of the asian kind ha ha.
We probably should have started earlier last night, we were swimming in the ocean until about 5:30pm. We were all feeling particularly Ocean Girl because we made friends with this cute little fish that we see there all the time. (Provided it's the same one) We named him Funny Jeffery, it was name I gave my skipping bear toy when I was little at Christmas 93. (We watched our Christmas 93 a couple of days ago and realised that I gave all my toys ridiculous names, I called my leopard toy "Gareth" as well)
So by the time it came to make dessert we had fallen asleep. It was due to that fact that we decided to take a break so that the girls could look up "Paolo Nutini" on the internet and gush at his youtube clips and laugh because he's like an old man in a young man's body. Also there is one brilliant video where one of the grand pops in his backing band is in the background getting changed and he takes his pants off and the camera films EVERYTHING.
We didn't ending up making the Chocolate Souffle. Hence why all of us must have been having Chocolate Souffle induced nightmares. One of the girls said "Chocolate Souffle" in their sleep and I dreamt that there was a Chocolate Souffle in my room with us, bubbling up so huge that it was filling the room, caving it in and was about to suffocate us. It was truly terrifying. I'm thinking maybe we should just attempt to make it today so we don't feel guilty for only cooking entrees and mains ba ha.
Anyway our cooking playlist was quite good I must say. Consisted of a lot of Britney. We figured that we are going to see her next month so we should have a Britney listening marathon. The neighbours must have been THRILLED. They think they are cool, that's why. The type of people that try to "compete" with you when you play loud music. If you're playing music they will mock sing it and then turn on their stereo louder. Usually to a band that has just become "cool" but has been awesome for a long time and they just didn't know it. It's quite hilarious, then they start singing along to them loudly and badly. Bless, I love them so much!
Well, I am off. I don't know when we are going to have another "Come Dine With Me" but I did learn a lot of things last night. Very cool, very cool. Ba ha ha ha. In conclusion, you should watch Come Dine With Me, it's pretty funny, there is always someone slagging everything off and almost always dinner table fights and this is the British version, can't wait to see the Australian one!

I have been listening to "Block Party" - Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, ON REPEAT.
I think it's the amazing percussion in it, I love the song obviously, but the percussion plays a MAJOR role in that. I also think this is the reason I love "1 Thing" by Amerie so much as well. Yes, that's my story, good story, yeah good story.
HI! How are you all? That's good :D I'm assuming you're all good.
Head over to LA soon to finalize mixing yo! I'm excited to leave the country actually, I am getting a little bit bored at home. I am also loving being at home right now, seriously. Cable, fresh everything, ocean, shit talking, good internet ha ha.
What have you all been doing lately? I have been demoing new songs. It's like since recording has finished I haven't been able to finish with it ha ha, so I am going demo nuts. Have quite a few to sift through over the next couple of weeks, which is keeping me very busy. Once again using my SK, also Timmy left his little keyboard here too, which I discovered has some AMAZING sounds, so I have been using those two to demo everything.
Other than that I have been outside lots, getting some sunshine and visiting the sea. It's quite calming, the water that is. I have also been watching far too many Simpsons/Spongebob/Come Dine With Me/Great British Menu marathons. It's all good fun though right?
Have also been having major whacked out dreams that you just shouldn't have. We have also been planning EVERYTHING for this record :D Which makes me totally excited and happy like a cet but also am very jealous of all the festivals that are happening. Going to shows/festivals makes me jealous because I miss playing shows. But soon enough my dears, soon enough! I know in about 6 months time I'll be all, I miss cable ba ha ha loser.
I am rambling. Seriously. A little bit bored, a little bit tired. But just wanted to say HI! I am listening to my "Simple Smile" playlist. Not a nice title I know (especially sorry to those of you who are offended by this) But it's the only way I can describe the smile that comes across my face, like gumby smile, you know what I mean? Anyway, I might as well share yeah?
"SIMPLE SMILE" playlist
1. Bet - THE DODOZ 2. Heart It Races - DR DOG version 3. There Must Be An Angel - THE EURYTHMICS 4. I Understand What You Mean But I Just Don't Agree - THE SLEEPY JACKSON 5. Alright - SUPERGRASS 6. Doo Wop - LAURYN HILL 7. Rally - PHOENIX 8. Tears Dry On Their Own - AMY WINEHOUSE 9. You Owe Me An IOU - HOT HOT HEAT 10. Meantime - THE FUTUREHEADS
That's all for now my dears. Add to that list if you like. Simple Smile songs only :D Hope you're all good.
