Friday, March 20, 2009

Hey everyone, this really should have been posted a long time ago, but I've been busy (lazy).

Just wanted to tell you that Last In Line is currently on indefinite hiatus. What exactly does that mean? For now it means we're not playing shows or recording, and have no plans to do so in the future.

That is not to say that someday, we may return to the stage, but the forseeable future. Last In Line will be on the inactive list.

We are all still good friends, and will remain so, and the split was mutual and amicable.

There are still plans to release a greatest hits CD containing a lot of b-sides and unreleased stuff, so you should check that out when it happens.

For now we've all gone are seperate ways. Daniel and Jon are both focusing on higher education and career oriented goals, and Jase's Hollywood star is shining brighter everyday.

As for me, I'm teaming up with Josh Lee and Eric Tormey, formerly of The Attraction on a power/pop punk trio, tenetively  titled Project Jennifer.

We'll be in the studio next week, and I'll let you know how that goes.

For now, I'd just like to thank anyone and everyone who supported us over the years. I truely had the time of my life.

Until that day,

Thomas

Hi guys and gals, it's been a long time since we've posted any updates. Sorry about that, there has been things to say, but I've been waiting for the right time to say it all at once.

First thing, is Johnny Bynum has left Last In Line, due to personal reasons. We wish nothing but the best for Johnny and his family, and hope to one day collaborate with him again.

Stepping in to the Bass duties now will be Jase Willette. Jase hails from Huntington Beach, and has been working hard to get up to speed.

With Johnny's departure, Thomas will handle all lead vocal duties, but the band will no longer play songs written and sung by JB.

Now that that is out of the way, let's talk about this year so far.

The year started out good, as Last In Line was nominated for "Best Out Of Area Band" at the 2007 Inland Empire Music Awards. The band also received a nomination for "Best Punk Band" at the 2007 Orange County Music Awards.

Thomas went to Jordan to film a movie for a couple months. That is were he actually me Jase. The movie is titled Battle For Haditha, and if you want more info on that you can go to Battle For Haditha IMDB Page or visit Battle For Haditha MySpace Page

We've been had at work writing a new album, and would love to have something out by the end of the year.

Fans will not be disappointed with our follow-up to "Better Late Than Never".

It also looks like we will resume playing shows this month, after an 7 month hiatus, it will be nice to get back on stage again.

Hope everyone is well, and I hope to see each and everyone out there at our shows!!!!

Last In Line's song Know It All is still alive and kicking in Garageband.com's song contest.

It has now made it to round 3 and is the #8 punk song on the current chart. It has also been named Punk Track Of The Week for this week. Know It All has also cracked the top 200 on the all time punk chart. That is out of almost 8,000 songs!!!! To have our song in the top 2% is awesome!! Yeah for us, hahaha.

Hey everyone, just thought I'd let you know that our song Know It All has been steadily climbing the punk rock charts in Garageband.com's song contest. It is currently #12 out of 175 songs in the current contest.

It is also being listed right now at #264 out of 7771 all time songs in punk rock on their website.

264 may not seem very lofty, but you figure out of 7771, that puts it in the top 3% of all the songs ever entered into their contest in our genre.

We've moved up everyday, so here's to making the push to #1!!!!!

Thanks for all the support, and remember that you can still get our latest album, "Better Late Than Never" in the ITunes music library.

Current mood:  frustrated

Well we just got back from what was supposed to be a mini-tour, 3 shows, 3 nights in 3 states. It started off on a bad note as the night before we left we got word that the third show, in Albuquerque, NM was going to be cancelled due to all but 1 of the local opening acts cancelling the week before the show. Never the less we were determined to move forward with the other 2.

We left California, after a full day in the studio where we have begun working on our next album, at 1AM Friday morning. I started off behind the wheel of our tourbus, a 33' RV which we rented for the trip. Somewhere past Barstow we hit a traffic jam. Traffic was gridlocked between Barstow and Baker, California at 3AM, go figure? Daniel went a head and took over the helm while we were parked on the 15. I took back over around 9AM and we arrived at our first destination, Fillmore, UT about 12PM. After a little rest and relaxation we find out that they are changing the venue from an outdoor ampitheatre to an indoor building at the last minute. We drive to the new venue which was only a few blocks away and began to load in. Things went pretty smoothly with that, and we soundchecked at 6:45. We were the opening act this night, playing with 3 other touring bands, Funeral March For A Marrionette, a metal band from Salt Lake City, The Last Novena, a emocorte/rock band from Las Vegas, and Murder Ballad, a hardcore band from Vegas.

It was a very diverse line-up to say the least. The Last Novena were very similar to bands like Story Of The Year and Taking Back Sunday. Really talented and I recommend checking them out if you are in Vegas, or they come to your town.

The crowd was fairly small, but we did get a good reaction from them. The lighting in the place was murder, and I could not see the frets on my guitar at all, which resulted in a fair number of mistakes. The sound system left something to be desired as well as there was no drum monitor, and the drums were on a riser well above the guitar and bass amps. Daniel had a hell of a time hearing anything from up there. During our second song, Know it All, disaster struck me, as my guitar strap managed to come undone from my guitar and my guitar fell off mid song. After managing to semi-recover from that I broke the A string. With that out of the way things went fairly smoothly from that point and over all I wouldn't call it a bad show.

About 10PM we decided we should hit the road and get a head start on show number two which was in Littleton, CO. As we were getting ready to leave I noticed that the automatic retractable steps on our tour bus were not retracting, which is a big problem, since we couldn't drive with the steps down. It was dark and no one seemed to have any tools or a flash light. Daniel tried to crawl underneath and figure a way to raise the steps. With no tools or light this was becoming a difficult task. After about an hour of no results a cop happened by and was nice enough to provide us some tools and a flashlight and Daniel was able to get the steps up and secured with a couple bungy cords.

We finally hit the road around 12AM. Kristina Bynum, our merchandise girl and sister of Johnny and Daniel drove first shift with me taking over around 2AM. I drove until around 4AM, and then we stopped at a truckstop in eastern Utah for the rest of the night. Daniel took over behind the wheel at about 7:30AM and we headed back down the road. Daniel and I split up the rest of the driving that day and we arrived at The Pinnacle Dinner Theatre in Littleton around 2PM.

I walked inside the venue where the owner happened to be and I introduced myself and told him why we were there. He said he didn't know there was a show that night, but gave me a tour of the venue anyway. After the tour he called the promoter who bookes shows there, a guy named Dave from Red Entertainment, who told the owner that there was no show tonight. I got the promoters number and called him myself, and he tells me he cancelled the show and sent out an email letting everyone know.

Now I know for a fact I never recieved such an email, and confirmed this later by going back and checking everything in my inbox. No email. So basically we spent a whole day driving and money on gas to go to Colorado for absolutly no reason at all.

Everyone seemed a little on edge after this as we debated our next move. Kristina had a friend in Littleton who was kind enough to let the band and our road crew come over to her house and shower and cleanup. After this Daniel, Johnny and our two road crew guys Greg and TonyPerez decided to go for a hike. Myself being a little worn down and not in the mood for hiking opted for a dinner at IHOP with Kristina. After dinner we all met back up to continue to debate our next move. After the smoke settled and the dust cleared we decided to drive through the night to Las Vegas. Nothing cures a bad time like a trip to Sin City, or so they say.

So at 10PM we loaded up and hit the road. Kristina batted lead-off again with me following her. Daniel took over around 4AM and took it until 7:30AM when we stopped at a Denny's in Cedar City, UT for breakfast. Johnny and I split up the rest of the trip and we arrived in Vegas just after midday on Sunday. We parked the RV at the KOA behind Circus Circus, right on the Vegas strip. Daniel and Tony decided to hit the pool, Kristina and I hit the buffet, and Johnny and Greg hit the hay. Later that evening Daniel and Tony took off to explore the strip while Myself, Johnny, Greg and Kristina took a walk down to Ceasers Palace. After walking around Ceasers we headed back towards Circus Circus with the plan being going up to the Stratosphere and checking out the view of the Vegas night skyline, but by the time we made it back to the bus we were all tired and decided to just call it a night around 1AM.

Daniel and Tony seemed to fare better in their partying venture as they didn't roll back in until 3 or 4. At 7AM we were on the road, trying to beat the traffic back to LA. Kristina took lead-off again and drove to Barstow where we stopped for a nice Del Taco breakfast. I took over from there and brought the ship home around Noon. After an hour of so of cleaning out the bus and giving it a good bug wash I finally made it home around 2PM, tired and frustrated, but never the less, home.

A lot of valuable lessons were learned on the trip, so I won't count it as a total failure, however it was far from being anything resembling a success.

Oh well, you live and you learn they say, and our resolve and will is stronger than that which tries to defeat us.

In other Last In Line news, our latest release, Better Late Than Never is now available on ITunes. So if you like our stuff, head over to ITunes and download it today.

Until next time, thanks for listening and being a fan, and we hope to see you at a show soon.

Peace
