SixYears ........Hey Peeps-

Greetings from internetland.  We are out on the road again armed with our new CD... "Six Years"...featuring our haunting take on Blondie's classic "Heart of Glass".  We've gotten some good love from the radio world this week...so please call in and let them know you'd like to hear it.

We kick off our album release tour in Cambridge on St. Patty's Day.  If you are in the Boston area you won't want to miss this. Nate has assured me that he will be doing a solo modern dance performance in a green leotard...AND if past performance is any indication of what's in store, we are all in for a real treat...

Hopefully we will see some of you out there...maybe even arm wrestle some of you brave souls...

Jesse

"SIX YEARS" Available TOMORROW

...Old School Freight Train's new album "Six Years" (11:12/Sony/RED) speaks to the evolution the band has taken since inception over six years ago.  Starting out as "new grass" the band has slowly taken on more influences like songwriters Elliott Smith and Tom Waits, instrumentalists like Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau and bands like Radiohead and Wilco.  A striking example of this new sound can be heard in their HAUNTING rendition of Blondie's "Heart of Glass.

"HEART OF GLASS" ON THE RADIO

Last week OSFT's haunting rendition of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" hit radio stations across the great states.  It was added to the playlists of some great stations including WCNR & WNRN (Charlottesville), WCBE (Colubus, OH), WUIN (Wilmington, NC), WHRV (Norfolk, VA), KBAC (Santa Fe, NM).

Call your local stations and ask them to play Old School Freight Train.  We have a new video coming, but check out our Civil War reinactment inspired video for HEART OF GLASS.

The New Jersey turnpike is a strange place to wake up under usual circumstances, but these aren't usual circumstances.  OSFT is once again on the road. It is snowing.  Snowing Hard.  In fact it looks like the snow is coming straight at us, and not falling gently from the sky.  Darrell Muller (bassist, and perhaps the most competent driver in the band) is at the wheel.  Nick  Falk (drums, underrated comic genius) is riding shotgun and managing the stereo.  Liam Reid (soundman and relative newcomer) appears to be in a coma on the back bench of the van. Nate Leath (fiddler and untamed feral gypsy)  well... let's just say he met a girl and will be meeting us at the next show... we hope. To pass the time we are listening to a book on tape "outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell.  I am sitting on the first bench seat looking out at the snow.  There is something about seeing the trees whip past in the snow that sets the stage for a self indulgent barage of sentimentality.  We've been on the road a lot in the last six years... oh wait... a hundred foot red and yellow monument to a certain hamburger dynasty has broken the spell.  So, I'll just stick to the facts...

We took some time off this fall to rehearse and work on a bunch of new material... and now, armed with a batch of new tunes and an upcoming album "six years" we are making our way through the northeast and eventually back down south. supporting rocking jamgrass superband Railroad Earth;  Relishing the opportunity to play to rooms we've never been in and places where the bill collectors can't find us. There will be tunes... there will be dancing...  there will be you?  We certainly hope so.

Check out our new myspace page to listen to the new disc and get tour info.  And by all means- come say hello at one of the shows- we pride ourselves on being easy to talk to- just come up armed with a joke or a handshake and bingo- you're in.  Instant best friend status.  Its that easy.  In fact show up wearing an OSFT shirt and I will personally come and mow your lawn.... eventually.

-Jesse

Inhabitants of internetland,
time is upon us- and it weighs a ton. OSFT is gonna do what we can to alleviate some of the gravity of this epoch- come and shake it with us (and I do mean shake)!!

Hey People of the World-

We are fixin to go back out on the road. There are a bunch of shows happenin during the next two months. Gas up the old car or get your skateboard out and come hang with us when we roll through your town. As always, we will be telling jokes and drinking sweet tea. We are also certain to stay up too late and play music with any new friends we happen to meet. Our new album probably won’t be ready for this little tour- but you can pre-order it and get some free downloads. We recorded a couple of extra tunes for your listening pleasure. If you come out to see us don’t hesitate to come up and say hello. We love that stuff. It’s even better if you tell us a joke or offer to arm wrestle Pete- it never gets old. Ok- we will catch up with you soon- Jesse

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know we've posted two of our seven videos from our studio sessions in the end of January this year. There are five more to come. A new video will be posted to our youtube.com/dlux456 page and our myspace page every Sunday night until all seven are posted.

We finally finished our album during the sessions at the end of january, and it should be released this spring. We're thinking maybe late April. No plans for a cd release party, but we want to have one. Hope you all are well and let us know what you think of the videos...

Category: Travel and Places

We're here in Chicago.  It's freezing.  Our van is having some issues, not the least of which is the fact that we spun out and had a near death experience on the highway the other day.  Luckily, everyone is alright and we even made it to our show in Minneapolis (only a few hours late). Who knew that Minnesota would be cold in January?  Maybe next winter we'll look into places like Florida and Cancun.

We're going into the studio next week to finish our album.  The music is killin' and we're all really psyched.  We've got one more verse to write this afternoon and then we'll be done.  Procrastination is the name of the game for us.  We've played some of the new tunes live and haven't had a disaster yet so that's good.  We'll be posting new video blogs on our myspace site and youtube, so check back for videos of rehearsals, the van wreck, and some bizarre dancing.
