Last night we had a WEST COAST premiere screening for the charming new film from Joe Perrin, LAST OF THE MOHICANs. A healthy dose of the skateboard population came out to see it.

Cody Brannin, Justin from Street Machine, and fresh off a plane from PA, Jimmy Carlin.

Alex was the first dude there.

The banner zone.

Matt Sosa and Jeffrey Halleran.....forever cheeseheads.

Cuong from Osiris and Chris Larue from Pacific Drive.

Freddy wasn't going to miss this one. This is his best Jason Jessee impersonation.

Another candid shot with Oaks.

Street Machine was well represented. Jimmy Carlin, Petey Martinez, and Gabe de la Mora (Listen).

Gabriel and Mark from Satori. Mark was hyped on the Dave Caddo part among others...

The film was really well received!

Special thanks to Joe Perrin, JK and all the Bluefoot staff as well as our sponsors, Habitat, Satori, Element, I Path, Slap Magazine, Elwood, Traffic, 5boro, and Stereo!

We'll be screening the UNDERSKATEMENT FILM FESTIVAL 4 times during ASR Sept 4-5th.

Running myself ragged....that described the preplanning that went into this event.....
There was a great turnout for vendors....
After the taco truck fed everyone, the skate obstacles came out...
Gabe and Mark and Jamey and Adam were rippin it up.
My buddy Mark works for Satori now and their booth was right next to us.

Tosh Rice having just spun a 360 off Mark's little kicker ramp.

Traffic wasn't bad coming back. After Gabe met a client in Clairemont, we went to meet Mike B at Pokez.
Look who we ran into at the door?

Ed, Deanna, and Kevin Barnett we sitting right behind us.
Mike arrived and we all feasted then walked over to Spreckels.
Saw Josh Harmony and his wife on the way.

It was already bustling when we arrived.
Justin, Tara and Lou.

Mikendo!

Can you spot all the talent in this photo?

RIDE THE SKY is amazing. Super fun to watch and all was on time! Jamie and Matt, and Mike did terrific work.

All weekend has been the JOHNNY RAD FEST.....
Saturday afternoon saw the Jump Ramp contest at the Blue Tile Lounge, I mean the Tower Bar.

Crispin from Allied brought the jump ramp down from Escondido.

Tyrone painted it up and ollied into it.
And boosted a frontside on the HOSOI Hammerhead.

Scottie Copalman... backside tweaker in boots.
We packed up the practice session from Tyrone's sidewalk and took it to the big league.
The Clinebell Express took it's turn on the art tip.

Edgar was a top contender with tweaked out lien 180s like this.

Carnival Ride scissor kicked some airwalks.

Kenny coming down off a nose bone.

Freddy made it out to snack and observe.

Crispin cranking a mean Japan air!

The crowd was packing up the sidewalk....aka the bio landing zone.

Kirk was the runner up. spinning 360.
But he did win the non regulated streetplant contest... HO-HO.

Wez and Rhino were there.

Massive ollie to late shove it.
It was Mike from East County that came out of nowhere to take the prize.

Tyrone Taylor put it all together with a little help from his friends.

Cannonballers - team Burt Reynold's mustache outside the Ken Club for the SPITS.

I hope someone sang the SKATEBOARD SHUFFLE.

static III premiere on EDGEMONT
Josh was kind and sent  me a premiere copy from London, so I gathered a few of my discriminating VIDIOTS and had a little San Diego viewing party for STATIC III.

the cast is set.

I've done several viewing fiestas at EDGEMONT before, but this marks the 1st time a pug showed up. That's Lebowski, the mellower of the bunch.

Burnett brought snacks....from what I recall they were a new BUTTERFINGER concoction.  Someone would yell out, "Hey Mike!"  and three Mike's would turn around. Sinclair, Fitz, and Burnett....it was hard keeping it all straight.

Only one mugs was there though!

Gabe posted up that he liked Tony Manfre's fs flips the best.

Nate, Olly, and Manfre really flipped up my skirt. Thanks, Josh. we support you

Maker of Pedro....Andy Harris.

Gabe was kicking out.

Belvedere was designed by Ben Schroeder and it rips. If you look hard, you will see Clint Peterson setting up for a switch tre on the hip.

The first thing we saw when parking was Daniel Castillo skating out to get an icee.

Dinner was charming.

Who would have thought I'd be out clubbing in Hollywood on a Wed evening.

Montoya was way into the beats.

Rob G had last part

Mike was ready to go home before he even got there. 5 hours later....

Patty and Gabe and the screen.

Ortiz always makes me laugh.

Ricki did the fine editing.
Long tiresome drive home..........

Overboard teamed up with the newly remodeled OVERLOAD Skate Shop to bring Chris Nieratko to town today. He presented a slide show that illustrated some of the stories in his new book, SKINEMA. The tales he told had the crowd giggling frequently. Colt 45 tall boys and Virgil's Root Beer were being chugged during the intimate presentation. A rough estimate of the crowd tallied to 50 fine folks.
Chris was hyped on the signage.

Matt Barker was the first on the scene and briskly escorted Chris to the bar.

Kimmy(Blackbox) & Tod(FoundationSuperCo) were quickly on the scene.

So after a few pre screening tips of the glass, Chris made his re entry to OVERLOAD.

The slide projector crapped out half way through the presentation, but Chris was undetered and continued telling stories.

THE THRONGS......

Man about town, Bob Green, was on hand.

The fun moved over to Lefty's pizza after the signing.

Chris enjoyed the pizza.

Big thanks to Aaron and Matt @ Overload, for they didn't know what they were getting into. And of course to Chris....the man of good times and witty remarks.
