BLVD 'Live Electro Hip Hop'
plus special guest Collab Project

Catalyst Club, Santa Cruz - Friday, July 10 (CANCELED)
$8 / $10, 21+, 10:00pm
www.CatalystClub.com

Mt. Tallac Brewing Co. - Saturday, July 11
$8 / $10, All Ages, 6:00pm
www.PaesanoProductions.com

BLVD's genre bending, life affirming music inspires frenzy on the dance floor that rings in the ears and minds of its audience long after the party is over. Few bands can provoke the kind of electric atmosphere that BLVD has at its shows. This unconventional mixture of hip-hop vocals, rock guitars, street beats, and sub woofing bass is enough to galvanize and convert any crowd into a devoted fan base.

2008 was a dizzying blur of firsts and foremost for the San Francisco based band BLVD. While whipping up crowds across the US with their fresh urban sounds this four-piece has positioned itself as a new champion of the burgeoning live electronic movement. The fallout of BLVD's blitz on premier west coast festivals in '08 (High Sierra Music Festival, Earthdance, Joshua Tree Music Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, Shambhala, etc) lead to several licensing deals with conglomerates such as Victoria’s Secret, AOL, CBS, MTV and more. The band dropped its full length release (Music for People) last summer and toured heavily as the album garnered critical acclaim and remained in the top 40 on CMJ charts for 6 weeks. The release also got BLVD named to the "Hot 100 Unsigned Artists" of 2008 by Music Connection Magazine. The group topped the year off with a show stealing set at Sea of Dreams, the largest indoor NYE event in the US, alongside Thievery Corporation and Bassnectar.

2009 is expected to be an equally exciting year for this scene setting collaboration. They’re currently in the studio with well known producer Jeff Saltzman ( Killers, Fischerspooner, Two Gallants, The Sounds) crafting their follow up to 08’s Music For People and a spring tour will take them up the west coast, east to Hampton, VA for a Phish after show, and to the SXSW festival in Austin. The tour ends with a string of dates alongside Lotus as they stop at the premier theaters in the North East.

Paesano Productions is proud to present Australian live electronic world beat superstar Ganga Giri for one very special performance in the Northern California Nevada area Friday, May 22 at Opal Ultra Lounge at MontBleu in South Lake Tahoe, NV. Joining Ganga Giri will be Medicine Drum which features Earthdance International founder Chris Dekker on drums and a collaboration of the best of best in electronic music.

Ganga Giri
Ganga Giri mixes red natural elements with fat tribal beats and dirty funky bass lines to create a unique tribal-technological deep earth dance experience. Explosive and pulsating, at times ambient and flowing, the music is a pumping percussive multi-layered experience of complex grooves and raw, deep natural sound. Ganga himself is a rhythmic didgeridoo virtuoso and percussionist-- an inspired music creator who's passion brings people together in celebration of nowness in newness, a modern day corroboree for all!

Representing key elements and inspirations of Australia now, the shows are a modern/primitive multi-cultural celebration, a ‘melting pot’ unifying many musical genres and cultures, bringing audiences world-wide a reflection of today’s multicultural Australia. Ganga Giri's music has been widely & wildly appreciated by music lovers in many countries across the globe including Australia, Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, New Zealand and the United States, igniting audiences in clubs, world music festivals and outdoor dance events. Carving a niche in the DJ dominated world of dance music, Ganga Giri is an energetic, innovative and incredibly live act.

Ganga Giri's full show blends an array of tribal percussion that includes Ganga's uniquely percussive style didj playing, congas, djembe, bougarabou, Nigerian talking drum, mbira and more-- add to this a drizzling of authentic indigenous moves with aboriginal dancers and hold on tight as Ganga Giri sends audiences through the roof.

Medicine Drum
Fusing the latest cutting edge styles of progressive electronic dance music with foundations of deep tribal rhythms and live vocals, MEDICINE DRUM are recognized as one of the early music pioneers to cross the boundaries of electronica, where organic meets digital. Founded in London in 1994 by percussionist and Earthdance founder Chris Deckker, their music is a rich hybrid of styles and textures. Not quite psy-trance, not quite techno and not quite future-dub, Medicine Drum blend all these styles while interlacing them with driving, earthy tribal percussion and world music influences.

Medicine Drum's sound and style has always been individual and mystical. The band has supported some of the biggest names in dance music including Moby, The Chemical Brothers, The Orb, Juno Reactor and Sound Tribe Sector 9 - and has played all over the world including Japan, Morocco, South Africa, Canada, London, Glastonbury Festival UK, Australia, Israel, Mexico, Europe, and the USA.

Medicine Drum are back with a new all star line up featuring Greg Ellis on drums (Juno Reactor, The Matrix), Rara Avis on electronics, Lisbeth Scott on vocals (Peter Gabriel's "Last Temptation", Narnia) and special guests MC Wisdom and MC Dakini Star (The Goddess Alchemy Project).

Medicine Drum continue to stretch the boundaries of electronica with their dynamic live shows which often include ritual dance theatre and performances by indigenous artists such as Native American drummers, African musicians and dancers. Their cutting edge sound and visually stunning stage presence continues to draw critical acclaim from around the world.

"...Watching them play live today is like a dance through time, a heady slide into the depths of rhythms from the past and a dizzying propulsion into the sounds of the morrow." -- Kary Stewart (Ignite Media London)

Current band line-up:
Percussion - Chris Deckker
Drums and percussion - Greg Ellis
Keyboards and electronics - Rara Avis
Vocals and keyboards - Lisbeth Scott
Special Guest Lyricists:

Paesano Productions is proud to announce Strings for Industry for one very special performance Friday, May 8th, 2009 at Opal Ultra Lounge inside MontBleu Resort, S Tahoe. Joining S4I will be Bill Nershi, front man for the legendary String Cheese Incident and opening the show will be raising stars Five Eyed Hand!

Strings for Industry are an all-star band spiraling out of the seething brew that is the music community of Portland, Oregon. Musical legends Darol Anger (violin) and Carlton Jackson (drums), have combined forces with acknowledged monsters Scott Law (gtr) and Tye North (bass) for a musical experience which embraces the length, width and depth of American Music; in the great tradition of groups like The Band and NRBQ, this band covers it all and unites traditions in their original songs and dances.

From the saloons of Telluride to the some of the most sought after venues in America, BILL NERSHI has delighted countless fans as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and founding member of the String Cheese Incident. A seasoned veteran of flat-picking and a variety of acoustic styles, Nershi adds a unique, colorful perspective to virtually any musical situation he encounters, and his enthusiasm and playful spirit encourage an interactive, participatory experience for musicians and fans alike.

Violinist, fiddler, composer, producer and educator, DAROL ANGER is at home in a number of musical genres, some of which he helped to invent. He developed his signature sound through working with many of the world’s great improvising string musicians, among them Stephane Grappelli, Mark O’Connor, Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, David Grisman and Vassar Clements.

Singer-songwriter-instrumentalist SCOTT LAW’s fiery guitar and mandolin playing compliment a smokey-sweet tenor voice and a book of songs from punkfunk-jazz to three-chord Americana. A lifelong improviser who thrives on live performance, Scott has a grounded, soulful stage presence and is as comfortable in an intimate acoustic setting as with a highly energized electro-psychedelic-blues-rock raging freakout.

A native of Portland, Oregon, bassist TYE NORTH toured all over the US with Leftover Salmon for 7 years. He recorded three records with them, featuring guests Bela Fleck, Waylon Jennings, Earl Scruggs, and Lucinda Williams. Tye has performed and collaborated with Victor Wooten, Paul Mccandless, Mike Kang, Sam Bush, Karl Denson, Robert Walter, Jessica Lurie, Darol Anger, Taj Mahal, Future Man, Wally Ingram, Jeff Coffin, and Bruce Hampton.

The LA Times has described CARLTON JACKSON's drumming as being "intensely musical." This phrase also perfectly describes Carlton, a nationally known first call musician in the industry. His incisive style & mastery of various music genres has made him a natural choice for his work in live performance, feature films, television and radio.

FIVE EYED HAND
Always churning out new sounds, you never know what you are going to get at a 5EH show. One minute it can be rocking swinging jazz, the next some nasty dirty madness, or the band can swiftly move into a acoustic sing along.

10:45 – 11:30     Ten Mile Tide

Ten Mile Tide is six-piece jammy-nominated band from San Francisco that describes their sound as high-energy folk-rock, feel-good muppet funk, and beer-drenched bluegrass. TMT puts on a high-energy, danceable, fun show while still focusing on songwriting, harmonies, and melody.  Things are ramping up after a successful release of their new album "Riverstone"
www.TenMileTide.com

12 – 1:00           Plum Crazy (Sonidbids Runners Up)

When asked to describe Plum Crazy’s music, people often find difficulty mustering the words. Perhaps the song, Blade of Grass sums it up best with “I’ve got funk in my soul, bluegrass on my mind…” and later “I’ve got blues in my soul, reggae on my mind...” With five songwriters, the music
explores a wide gamut of styles bound to a common groove that is prevalent in all their songs, bridging the gap between jam and pop.

www.plumcrazymusic.com

1:30 – 3:00        International Farmers (Sonicbids Winner)

The International Farmers combine roots, reggae, rockers, dub, soul & hip hop influences into a very smooth & polished mix of some of the best, most original, reggae based music to ever come out of Southern California. Their music is the creation of long-time friends Daniel Primavera (Vox/Guitar) of Virginia, and Jeremy Odom (Bass/Vox) of Atlanta. With added texture and percussion provided by drummer, Preston Nelson along with Brian Landau on saxophone, Jamie Bullock on keys and vocalist Lara Beers, the band's sound has expanded and evolved in into a very smooth & soulful, yet eclectic & hard-driven sonic
amalgamation that, although is true to its reggae roots at its core, is unique in its creativity, power & musical
complexity.

3:30 – 5:00        Ryan Montbleau Band
Averaging over 200 gigs per year for the past few years, Ryan Montbleau
Band has generated the kind of buzz that only surrounds a talented artist on the verge. Emerging onto the national music scene from his home base of Boston, Ryan Montbleau has been described as something of a Martin Sexton by way of Van Morrison and Stevie Wonder. Yet Ryan Montbleau Band’s music is difficult to pigeon-hole or neatly categorize. It is original yet familiar—a fresh sound full of firmly rooted ingredients, including Americana, folk, blues, ragtime and ’70’s R&B and soul. Whereas the band’s intriguing instrumentation and arrangements (not to mention top notch chops) help to create this unique sound, all is firmly anchored by Montbleau’s water-tight lyrics and unmistakable voice.

Finishing things off will be a wild set by Poor Man’s Whiskey. Through the years Poor Man's Whiskey has developed a sound that is eclectic and engaging. It is a musical tapestry influenced by American music. *** We have just received word that OTT was taken to the hospital over the weekend due to a very bad bacterial lung infection. He is very ill and forced to cancel his west coast tour supporting the Disco Biscuits. This also includes our late night event on 4/3 in SF.
