There are some days that, despite your very best efforts to be productive and responsible, you end up screwing things up.  Earlier this week while I was recording the theme song for the Front Row Foundation I spilled coffee all over my MacBook Pro.  Devastating....

It is in the trusted hands of the "Geniuses" at the apple store and I am fairly certain that even though I have an Apple care plan, fixing it will cost an arm and a leg.  So is life.

Anyway, the shows have been going great.  I started up this myspace page and also a facebook page for this solo acoustic stuff.  For those concerned...this is a focus for the time due to distance and logistics that surround Navar at the current time.  Also, I don't want to continue to bash Navar fans over the head with the weekly NYC show promotions when they don't all live in the area.

Well hello out there. How is everyone? It's weird how stuff doesn't bother you until you really think about it...then it consumes you. This blog is one of those things. I don't write for months and then when I think about it I get all crazy. So anyway, things are good. I spent a week in Hume NY with family and friends for Thanksgiving. We made some music, drank more than anyone should and almost got into a fight at the hotel for old time's sake.

I have continued to do my solo acoustic shows and I feel they have been getting better and better each week. Please, if you are in the area, come check it out. They are free and early enough in the night that you can still go out after.

I have one tonight and will post about it tomorrow, including the setlist. I look forward to seeing you all out if you can make it.

First of all, I truly feel loved. Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments, messages, texts, emails and phone calls...you guys are the best. i have had a tremendous couple of days celebrating!

Wow I have been doing a lot lately. I am reading a few books on writing and they all say the same thing...you have to write ALL THE TIME! This is one place that i enjoy writing (this blog) but never keep it up on a regular basis. To quote one of my latest obsessions...here is what the conchords have to say about updating websites:

"A catch 22 type dilemna has struck kiwi band Flight of The Conchords in relation to updating the band news on their website. Members of the band (Jemaine and Bret) have noticed that whenever there are doing things that could be reported on the website, they are too busy to update the website. In addition, whenever the band members have some spare time in which they could update the website, there is usually, as one member put it "nothing going on". As a direct result of this problem The Conchords may resort to manufacturing news stories about themselves to bolster news items in less busy times. "

Do any of you watch that show? I think it is brilliant, with a subtle humor that is refreshing in a world of over the top comedy. Is TV rotting my brain? I finish the album and I have been really enjoying and getting into shows. I have also gotten into the new Showtime show Californication. I was very disapointed in the season finale's of Entourage and Flight...but I have gotten over it. I would say that the best FOC episode is episode 11...The Actor, so check that one out for sure.

I have been out and about A LOT lately. I had a rockin birthday at Corio (W. Broadway + Grand in Soho) on Saturday night, thanks so much for everyone that came out. Before Corio we were guests at the New York City Burlesque Festival event at the Highline Ballroom and then played (and were kicked out...because i jumped on the table) beer pong at the Town Tavern with Audie and crew. Micheal gave me a tremendous gift...a Taylor 910 Acoustic guitar! I mean, i can't wait to play and record that baby for y'all. On Monday we made our way to the US Open where we caught the Blake match that was probably the best of the day. I am not a huge tennis fan, but the excitement surrounding this event and the intensity and endurance the players have at this level called for a great experience. The Miller lights helped as well...

On Tuesday night my dear friend Andrew took me out for dinner, gave me a nice long sleeve Locaste polo (I'll post a picture if I ever wear it...THANKS ANDREW!) and we went to see Santana perform at the Highline Ballroom with ML and Johnny Masters. My nemesis Chad Kroager joined Santana on stage and Clive Davis and Samuel L Jackson were hanging out there too. The show was killer, also exciting to see a living legend perform (and no Chad, I'm not talking about you).

On my actual birthday David, Johnny, Micheal, Dani and I went to see the All American Rejects perform at Webster Hall. Benny told me they put on a great show and he wasn't lying.

I mean, I think I have covered a lot. I missed a bunch of things that happened the past few weeks including a trip on a houseboat in Northern California.

i have a lot of other stuff going on and coming up in the near future...including some solo acoustic shows that I would love to have you guys come to. I will post more about that later today or tomorrow...gives me something to write about.

Not to get into specifics...but I have some of the closest people in my life going through illness and heartache. Do me a favor, take a second, close your eyes and send some love. Believe it or not it works...

I miss you all and, again, thanks for thinking and remembering my little old Bday. 27 years...man how time flies.

Well here I sit at Asbury Media in Asbury Park NJ with my good friend and 2x Grammy winning engineer Tom Ruff..mastering the new NAVAR album. After this Johnny and I drive straight to Buffalo to drop off the Audio Master CD to be pressed. This has been such a long time coming!

I have been very busy lately finishing this up. I was able to go to the Mark Ronson cd release show with Andrew a few weeks back where I got to see the guys from Maroon 5 again. They had just gotten back from their opening for the Police...how cool is that? Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet) who is on Mark's record actually performed the Radiohead cover "Just" and then they did a version of "California" which was stellar. Check that album out sometime...it's called "Version" and it's good.

Hmm...what else. I made the trip out to Cabo for the weekend with friends from CA and the KC Chiefs...such a good time. I really love that place. TG and Tobie got married the following Friday...congrats guys!

Last week I was out with Mrawk, apa and Johnny Masters and we ended up playing beer pong with Ryan Cabrera at SLATE. Wrestling ensued and Mike left with a chocolate shake on his shirt and a pitcher of beer in my hair...good times. Speaking of Ashley...it's his birthday today! Happy Birthday bro!

I have spent a lot of time out here in Asbury, about 3 more trips than I had anticipated but I just kept finding issues with my mixes that just HAD to be addressed. I mean, I spend all this time recording...why short change it during the final process right? Mixing was hellish, staying up all night long sending mixes out to Benny at all hours. In the end it's all worth it. Dedication to the WOLF! As much as I am ready to get this out and feel like not open protools for a month...I kinda have the itch already to work on more music!

i have a show tomorrow in Olean at the Art Space...so if you are in the area you should come out. We never play all ages shows and that is something that has really bothered me for years...so let's start making it happen. Then next week we have our BIG CD release and industry showcase in NYC at Kenny's Castaway. That one you CANNOT miss. Probably one of the most important shows to date...no joke.

My parents celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this past weekend. It's amazing to think about how long that actually is. They are quite a team and so cool together. They have given all they could and then some to help me pursue my dreams...a true blessing. Make sure you congratulate them when you see 'em out at the shows!

Anyway, i know there is a lot of garbage in this blog but I just wanted to get going again. This album is massive. I mean, like 70 minutes of new music!! You will have your ears full...thats for sure. There are a couple songs over on the NAVAR myspace page, check em out.

Anyway, how are you friends? I've had a pretty eventful few weeks (maybe month) since I last wrote. I had a couple of shows with the band!! Oh man how wonderful was it to be on stage again. We have finished all the lyrics and are in the final mixing stages. Here is a shot from my last show in Olean:



Thanks so much for everyone who came out to this show. It was a crowd full of true fans of the band and the music we have made over the years. All I kept thinking about on stage was "this is what it's all about!"

I ended up swinging back down to NYC to catch Maroon 5 at the Bowery Ballroom. I was able to hang out with them again downstairs after the show and at the afterparty where the scotch flowed like wine. I was in the balcony for the show with my best bud Andrew and was able to meet the president and the GM of Maroon's label Octone Records as well as their manager Jordan. Adam Levine's brother Micheal was wondering why I wasn't wearing my helmet...I guess it's become some what of a calling card.

Ahh, even more exciting things happen this past week. I was at CORIO a few times and met Luke Wilson and future NBA hall of famer Steve Nash! Can you believe it, Richie Tenenbaum?? The Baumer??

So I have been working around the clock, drinking oceans of coffee to get this baby of an album of ours into your hands. So friggin close I can taste it.

Man oh man, I keep remembering things that went down. We had our annual Memorial Day show at the Fillmore Hotel wish was killer as always. I was also able to head out to Vegas to catch a Killers show at the Hard Rock, celebrate my best bud Hibbard's (who I served with in the Marines) birthday and rock out with DJ Berrie and his manager DJ as he spun at Tao.

A big congrats to my good friend Amber Lee was named Ms. Howard Stern TV for the month of June.

As the school year winds down, I also want to congratulate my little brother B-rad and Johnny Masters for another year down. And as for Big Bear, my older brother Benny...you inspire me to no end. You have pushed me to not settle and grow as an artist, writer, performer, brother and person. Im so proud of you for your drive and brilliance.

For those of you that don't know, he graduates this weekend with an MFA in poetry from the prestigious Goddard College in VT. Love you bro!

I have forgotten things..and that is why I can't wait so long to write. I sure miss you all. Hope you haven't given up on me...the best is yet to come.
