Peace and poetry, poets and poetry lovers:
If you missed The Session's tele-broadcast of the 3rd Annual Prysmatic Dreams Muse Awards, you missed something beautiful. Several powerful events took place that night which opened the door for poets to accomplish more than they thought possible. And we got it all recorded! The broadcast will be on The Session's website (www.thesessionpoetry.com) soon.
There could not have been any better way to start the show than honoring true legends in spoken word poetry, The Last Poets. Eryk Moore, next month's feature, had the honor of presenting the award to The Last Poets, which Abiodun Oyewole of The Last Poets accepted, then subsequently offered a poem for us. We then proceeded to offer awards to four of our jewels and administrators that helped us do what we do on www.PrysmaticDreams.com, SisQueen Rella (PD Most Valuable Jewel), Wise1Poet (Best Admin), Green Eyes (Wind Beneath Our Wings Award), and The Poet Black Orchid (Inspirational Moderator). The Poet Black Orchid offered us some inspiration after recieving the award.
We then offered some Whispered Words Awards Outstanding Audio Awards to Carlos Gomes for What Are Words Worth on the Words Worth Mix, Jive Poetic for Clone Wars on the Conspiracy Mix CD 2, and Nyne Elementz for Paper Terrorist on the Words Worth Mix.
The New Word Order then offered the title and awards of NWO Poetic Ambassadors. We had no idea that two of them would show us why they were Poetic Ambassadors. The recipients were Versatyle, Will Da Real One, and Simply Sil. Will Da Real One phoned in from a live show and shared us with 150 other people in the audience in his venue while spiitin inspiration to us. Simply Sil was tending to a family emergency in Italy, but phoned in to accept the award AND share some of her poetic inspiration with us. Versatyle also offered us some poetic inspiration. We thank Will Da Real One for making us known to his venue while appearing on ours. And we especially thank Simply Sil for helping us make history by calling from Italy at 4:30 am Italian time. The Session has now gone across ocean waters because of her. We love you for that, Simply Sil.
We then presented awards for New Word Order Resource of the Year and the Whispered Words Impact awards. Poets In Need.org was the first to recieve the Resource of the Year Award. Next was Audacity recieving the Resource of the Year Award for being the resource that helped us all produce so many things. The winners of the Whispered Words Impact Awards were Maximus Parthas for The Conspiracy Mix CDs 1 & 2, and LifeLived for The Price of Life Mix. These two mixes were responsible for changing millions of lives and for saving lives, and we at Prysmatic Dreams and the New Word Order consider those two mixes as two of our greatest accomplishments as artists and poets.
Then Whispered Words awarded two people for Best Whispered Words CD Cover: Dain Brammage for the cover of The Freedom Mix, and Soulful Pen for the cover of The Lost Loves Mix. We congratulate them on winning an award that their artistic abilities certainly deserve.
Next, The Session came in to offer four awards to four of our up and coming poetic stars. The 2006 Best First-Timer Award went to Lady Untouchable who came out with a fiery first performance. Our 2006 Rising Star Award went to Legacy Leonard. And we've had two 2006 True Poetic Insight Award winners: Nu Eshe and Advocate of Wordz. Legacy Leonard offered us some inspiring words later in the show.
Next was the NWO Best Regional Organization Award, given to Albany Poets.com. Then the NWO My Way Award was given to The Poet Essence, who has appeared in the famous Apollo Theatre seven times.
Whispered Words came back in to offer more awards: The 2006 Best Set Award and The 2006 Best Mix Award. The Best Set Award went to "41 shots" and "In Plain Sight", both on The Conspiracy Mix CD 1, produced by Maximus Parthas. The Best Mix Award went to What Happened To Hip Hop CDs 1 & 2, produced by Maximus Parthas & Poetry's Child.
The New Word Order then offered awards to some other organizations that were doing great things for poetry. The first was the 2006 Website of the Year, given to HipHopPoetry.com. Oral Essence and Lyrics, Inc. Magazines were awarded the 2006 Online Magazine of the Year. And Future performed some of his inspiring poetry while representing Oral Essence Magazine. BzOo Radio was awarded the 2006 Radio Station of the Year Award.
The Session returned to award the four heavy-hitters of the year. The first was the 2006 Best Wordsmith Award, given to Tremahne Lockhart, whom performed the tongue-twisting "Pretty Miss".. The second was our 2006 Best Feature, given to Karega Ani, who dynamically showed us why he was indeed our best feature of 2006. Dain Brammage recieved the 2006 Most Inspiring Poet award. And J-Ice recieved the Poet of the Year Award, and offered yet more truly inspiring words, as if she hadn't given us so much already.
Lady Untouchable and Jerz the Poet won the PD 2006 Rising Star Award. Soulful Pen won her second award, the 2006 PD Best New Poet Award. And Dain Brammage rightfully won the 2006 PD performer of the Year award.
Whispered Words presented their final award, 2006 Producer of the Year to Nu Eshe, for all her hard work in producing quality Whispered Words Mixes. She offered some inspiring words as the 2005 PD Poet of the Year and presented Nyne Elementz with the 2006 PD Poet of the Year Award. Nyne Elementz offered some truly inspiring words before joining Nu Eshe and Dain Brammage in awarding the 2006 PD Poet Laureate Award to Maximus Parthas.
We had legends on the Awards Show. We had poets do two shows at once on our show. And we went across oceans with our show. 2006 was indeed a wonderful year for Prysmatic Dreams, The New Word Order, Whispered Words, and The Session. And we all can't wait for all the wonderful things that will happen next year.
