Nope, that's not a mistake you see under the "Upcoming Shows" field on the home page. We actually have a gig. I'd like to say we earned this gig on the strength of our musical abilities and songwriting talents. But actually we know a guy...
This is going to be our first show in at least 7 years...it might be more but I honestly can't remember when we last played. And my brain is tired of trying.
And, when this gig is over, it could very well be 7 more years before we play again. So, fans can expect incredibly long lines outside McDaniel College (our alma mater), large signs saying something akin to "Welcome Back Spork," and lots of blank stares from the majority of the college population.
Oh, and not only are we making big bank on this deal, but apparently we're being put up at the finest establishment in Westminster for dinner. Glar dining hall. I'm just hoping they still have the omelette guy...or that it's meatball sub night.

Not every title can be a priceless gem. Saw the Avett Brothers ( http://www.myspace.com/theavettbrothers) last night at the Avalon in Easton, and do yourself a favor, if they come anywhere within three hours of your town, go see them. I've seen them a good 7-8 times over the past year and they NEVER disappoint. One of the most energetic, fun, AND musically powerful shows I've ever seen. You might think a guitar, banjo, and upright bass can't sound like punk...but hearing (and seeing) is believing. And trust me, their studio recordings (while great in their own right) don't do the energy, tempo and VOLUME of their live show justice.

Hey kids, since you're already on My Space, why not check out a couple of other bands:
My friend Lee's band (apparently named after Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn): Project Dunn.
And my cousin Jake's band: Crownpoint. Now these guys have over 5,500 friends, so we've really got some catching up to do. Plus, most of their friends appear to be incredibly cute women who keep calling Jake a "skank"...I'm not sure if that's good or bad...kids and their slang these days...
But I am sure that it can't be good that our only friends are Doug the vampire (see my previous thoughts on "no photo") and a girl who looks eerily like Sinbad. Not that I don't love you guys...seriously, you've always been my favorites.

Category: Friends
It seems a bit strange to start up a blog when according to this site, we have zero friends. But the members of Spork have never been worried about making things like "friends," or "money," or "humorous jokes."
No, Spork has always been about so much less than that. So, what you won't find here is a long list of reasons why you should be a Spork Friend (or, as one of our loyal fans once put it, a Spork Dork).
For example, you won't see something like "By becoming a Spork Dork you will receive a free Spork fleece and scarf and matching Trapper Keeper." Not only because we don't buy our friends here at Spork, but also because the only Trapper Keepers we have don't match the fleeces or scarves that are currently in stock.
In fact, we are so confident in our ability to not need friends, that we think this nonchalant attitude will actually result in an avalanche of friendship heretofore unheard of by science.
We believe that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people out there who will want to be friends with a group such as ours that is inherently not in need of so many friends. It will be oxymoronic and paradoxical and possibly quixotic for those people who live near windmills.
It will be useless to resist us! We will soon rule the WORLD! AHHHHH-HA-HA-HAAAAAAAAAA!
Seriously, be our friend.
Thanks,
Blair from Spork
