Hey everyone -

Just a very quick note here, since I am up to my neck in stuff to do, yikes!  But I did want to put some of these out there for now.  I have posted some brand new promo photos I did for Potential Threat SF ( www.myspace.com/potentialthreatsf ) in my galleries that I took last month.  Some are taken in San Francisco by Baker Beach, and the others are taken in the rehearsal studio (which had nearly zero light!).  Here are just a few teasers:

Many more will be added in the coming days - goofy ones, serious ones, and just plain funny ones - so keep an eye open!  Oh, and I don’t mind receiving comments on them, if you decide you want to post some.  hehe

I will also be posting soon some of the promo photos I did of HEATHEN back in January.  I am working slowly on these because I had no photoshop or anything for many months (my mac died and I still have to get it fixed, so I've been using my PC which doesn't have regular photoshop).  Thanks to everyone for being so patient and thanks to Archie for helping me make the second watermark last week.  =)

Hey everyone!

I already posted this on the Kreator profile and forum last week and thought I ought to add it to my own profile as well now.  I'm still really sick and sore from that, so it took me a few days to post, sorry about that.

I just got back from being out with Kreator for a few days and thought I'd share the three "videos" I took at the crazily-sold-out show at House of Blues Hollywood on May 2nd.  Sorry about the small size of the videos - my little camera only has a small memory card and wanted to do more than one song.  The quality of the image isn't totally best, but the sound is pretty good and you can see how INSANE the crowd was and why I ended up with fractured ribs on one side and bruised ribs on the other at the end of Exodus.  First song is Betrayer, second is Amok Run, and third is Riot of Violence (complete with my metal horns at the beginning, hehe).  Yes, I have permission from them to post these.    Hope you like!

Okay, I am really damned sorry that it took me this long to post this, but I've been going through a whole heap of crap since that tour and am just now being able to get around to posting this.

I was doing photos of Suidakra at the Pagan Knights Tour in San Francisco at Thee Parkside in the beginning of March.  After the Suidakra set, a couple of the young fans standing around where I was standing found a very light blue Sanyo 8.1 megapixel VPC-T850 digital camera.  It was found on the floor, on the right side of the stage (if you're looking at the stage).  I know that it is probably a boy in high school that would've lost it and would've been standing very close to me during Suidakra's set.

I took this camera instead of leaving it at the club because most stuff gets lost in the lost-and-found at clubs.  Plus, I thought people are not there in the day time (that would know about the camera) to answer the phone and then usually cannot hear the phone ring at night when there is a show.  I did leave my business card there with them in case someone called the club, though.

If you think you lost this, please get in contact with me.  There are very specific pictures on this camera before the Suidakra pics, so if you lost this camera, you can tell me what might be on the camera in the beginning of the photos.  Then I will know it is you (or your parents) who own the camera.

I really hope we can find this kid who lost this camera - I know I would go CRAZY if I lost mine and no one told me they found it!  Please, feel VERY free to repost this, especially if you went to the Pagan Knights Tour in San Francisco.  The more people we can get to see it, the more likely we will find the owner of the camera.

Thank you for the help!

Hey everyone -

Tonight is the movie premier of Anvil: The Story of Anvil!  All the different trailers I have seen of this are just hilarious, endearing, and just so cool.  I really hope those of you in the San Francisco area will come out to see this.  Besides, when will you EVER see a movie premier, at a CLUB, and then following that, see the band in the movie perform live?!  A back to back night of Anvil... how much cooler does it get?  Now, if my migraine even goes HALF away, I will be there.  This is one of those once in a blue moon kind of metal happenings, and I intend to do my damnedest to be there!  Check out the trailer below and read the VERY cool synopsis from the director of the Sundance Film Festival, and I think you will see why.  =)

The premier will be at Slim's, 333 11th Street, San Francisco.  Doors are at 630pm, "showtime" is at 730pm.  For more info, go to www.slims-sf.com.

Now, let me know if you are going and if you can, please repost this!!!  We want to show these guys that there are real heavy metal fans in the Bay Area!

UPDATE - The band has their newest, self-financed CDs with them for sale as well as a tshirt, so bring $$ for that if you can! Also, movie is from 730pm-850pm and gig is from 900pm-1030pm. They will try to set up as much chairs as possible, first come first serve, and will try to MOVE as many of those chairs as possible before the gig starts.

=)

"At 14, Toronto school friends Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, went on to become the "demigods of Canadian metal," releasing one of the heaviest albums in metal history, 1982's "Metal on Metal." The album influenced a musical generation, including Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, that went on to sell millions of records. But Anvil's career took a different path - straight to obscurity.

Director Sacha Gervasi has concocted a wonderful and often hilarious account of Anvil's last-ditch quest for elusive fame and fortune. His ingenious filmmaking may first lead you to think this a mockumentary, but it isn't. Gervasi joined the legendary heavy-metal band as a roadie for a tour of Canadian hockey arenas, so he has intimate insight into the members' eccentricities. It's fascinating to see the reality of their day-to-day lives as they struggle to make ends meet, take a misguided European tour, and engage in antics on the road - which is not always lined with fans. Gervasi even finds a softer center to this raucous film, introducing us to band members' ever-supportive, but long-suffering, families. At its core, 'Anvil! The True Story of Anvil' is a timeless tale of survival and the unadulterated passion it takes to follow your dream, year after year. Anvil rocks - it has no other choice." - John Cooper (Director of Programming/Sundance Film Festival)

As most everyone knows, it has been just over a year since the tragic bus accident that ultimately took the life of Vitek, drummer of Decapitated, and seriously injured their singer, Covan. The families of Vitek and Covan wish to express deep gratitude to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, funny stories, and donations sent to them during this last very difficult year.

However, Covan is still going through a long and difficult recovery, and the family would once again ask for you to look into your heart and possibly send donations. It is INCREDIBLY expensive for all the round-the-clock medical care, the doctors, the nurses, the therapy, the medicine, etc. Most of you could also understand that, since he is also in Poland, it is even more expensive than it would be in the US or most other parts of Europe. His care and recovery is ongoing and he is slowly showing some progress, but it will be quite a bit of time before he is completely better. Some people may think that, although they would like to help, that they have nothing to give… but in truth, if every one person out there that thought this could donate even just $1, that amount will significantly multiply and make a huge difference!

If anyone out there would like to help, there are three ways you can do that. All the old paypal donation information has been shut down a while ago, so please make note of the NEW address and account numbers!

If you are INSIDE POLAND ONLY, please use the following info:

You can donate to the POLISH paypal address of: mstasto@yahoo.com

OR you can put it directly into his bank account:

Recipient's Name: Adrian Kowanek
Account Number: 05 1240 1431 1111 0000 0999 2870
Bank Swift Code: PKOPPLPW
Bank Name: PEKAO I O. Krakow
Bank Address: Rynek Glowny 31, 31-010 Kraków, Poland
Please add the word "Covan" as the bank transfer description.

If you are OUTSIDE OF POLAND (Europe, Asia, South America, North America, etc.), please use the following info:

You can donate to the AMERICAN paypal account address of: decapitatedusa@yahoo.com

OR you can put it directly into the American bank account listed below:

Recipient Name: Alina M. Hernes
Account Number: 3582102302
Bank Name: Washington Mutual
Bank Address: 1605 S. Winchester Blvd., Campbell, CA 95008 USA
Be assured that this bank account was opened strictly for donations to Covan only, and all money will go directly to Covan. At Washington Mutual, it does not cost me any fees to transfer money to a Polish bank account or from paypal to the bank account, so that is why I made a separate account for him here.

If you go over
to the myspace profile at www.myspace.com/decapitated , you will also see a bunch of merchandise items for sale, in which all the money raised from the sale of those items will go directly to Covan's care. I will tell you that the Decapitated "Remembrance" shirt is one of the best quality shirts that I own and that the quality is completely top-notch. As well, keep an eye out in the next few days, as we will be making announcements about items that we will be auctioning off to benefit Covan, including a guitar graciously donated from Peter from the almighty VADER!

If you could please help us spread the word, we would be extremely grateful for the help. Please check back for periodic updates on Covan. Thank you so much!

BARREN EARTH is the name of a new Helsinki, Finland-based project featuring members of KREATOR, MOONSORROW, SWALLOW THE SUN and MANNHAI, among other bands. Formed in the fall of 2007, BARREN EARTH's music "combines elements of modern and traditional (death) metal with '70s prog rock and folk," according to the group's official bio. "Among the band's influences are artists like PARADISE LOST, OPETH, PINK FLOYD, JETHRO TULL and also some pioneers of Finnish prog.. The members' individual backgrounds in many internationally known and acclaimed outfits is a testament to the quality of the band's music. These same backgrounds are obviously also echoed in BARREN EARTH's music."

BARREN EARTH entered Jive Studios in Helsinki this past summer to record several tracks which can now be streamed via the band's MySpace page. Check out the songs "The Flame of Serenity", "Ere All Perish", "Forlorn Waves" and "The Floodred" at this location.

UPDATE 11.29.08, 1124am:

Another reminder that Chi's benefit it TONIGHT!  On a side note, Nikki from The Bone Metal Zone misspoke last night when she said it starts early around 6pm.  It does NOT start early - it is STILL starting at 9pm, with the doors opening at 8pm.  I talked to the club to make sure it didn't change.

UPDATE 11.28.08, 508pm:

Just a reminder that Chi's benefit is TOMORROW NIGHT at Fat City!

Hey everyone!

I would be very happy if any of you could help me repost this!

This Saturday, November 29th, members of Death Angel, Testament, Will Haven, Phallucy, and more will be performing at FAT CITY - 314 11th Street, San Francisco, CA .  The doors are at 8pm and show starts at 9pm and costs $12 to get in.  TIckets will be available AT THE DOOR.

This is a BENEFIT CONCERT for Chi Cheng, the bassist of The Deftones.  All proceeds will be going to him and his family to pay for the enormous medical bills they are incurring.  Chi has been in a coma at the hospital since a car accident that happened on November 3rd in Santa Clara.  His sister was also in the accident and they were returning home from a memorial service for their older brother who passed away.

~Squeak/Photo Mistress

PS Please do not email me and tell me I am not "metal" or whatever for posting something for a guy from the Deftones.  I have been friends with his brother for 15 years and I remember how caring this family is.  Anything that can help them, I will do.

*I post this every year to remind people why we have this "holiday"*

Regardless of your stance on the president, the country, a lot of the dumb laws we have here and some other inconveniences, YOU ARE STILL FREE TO DO AS YOU CHOOSE, much more than any other country that I can think of. And why do you still have that? Because of our veterans. You can do so many things here that you just can't do in so many other countries. I'm not saying you have to be in love with your country or for half of what it stands for, but at least thank a veteran for the fact that you are FREE.

~Squeak/Photo Mistress

************************************************************

IT IS THE VETERAN

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the Flag.

************************************************************

I don't know if you saw this in the news but it really impressed me. Funny, our US Senate/House took 2 days off as they couldn't work.

On the ABC evening news, it was reported tonight that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabelle approaching Washington DC, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.

They refused. "No way, Sir!"

Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a serviceperson.

The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.

I don't usually suggest that many emails be forwarded, but I'd be proud if this one reached as many as possible.

We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.

*************************************************************

Please Remember That FREEDOM is not FREE !! The RED in our country's Flag represents all those that have DIED to give us the FREEDOM that we have! If you have something you dearly love THANK A VETERAN for it!

Remember those who gave their lives for us....

WWII graves

captured British & French soldiers at Dunkerqu

troops having a cup of tea

American troops in the trenches(WWII)

Soldiers currently in the Iraq war

This is a day to remember those who gave their lives to ensure that today we can enjoy our freedom, our liberty. To that we remain ever grateful. It is also a day to remember those soldiers that are currently at war.

UPDATE 9.12.08, 12:45pm:

... on my profile!  I had to sit on the phone waiting with tech support for over an hour, so had to do something that didn't require too much thought, especially when typing!  LOL  Besides, I finally had time to drag out a shitload of pictures of me with my friends and they need to be represented!  =)  LOVE YOU GUYS!

~Squeak

UPDATE 7.28.08, 1:39pm:

I just now hit the 70,000 profile view mark - I didn't know regular people could have that happen!  Thanks so much to my friends on here and the "regular world" for making me feel special.  I'm truly stunned.  =)

On another note, I'm making quite a bit of progress with all the massive amounts of photos that I have to convert for the new, massive update on my site.  I had about 18,000 photos to go through and I am now down to about 6,500 left, which means about 65 hours more of converting photos.  I'm so close!!!  Well, on the grand scheme of things, anyway.  LOL  Thanks to everyone for being so patient and understanding that I am going through a lot of BS still.  I also want to thank the many of you whom have expressed support and also encouragement to keep going with my photography.  I am once again in decision mode (due to more BS that happened in the last month or so), and it's not a decision to be made lightly.  I really, really do appreciate everything everyone has said and done, it does make me think from different angles.

With lots of gratitude -

UPDATE 7.4.08, 2:38pm:

NEW photos with band members posted (Epica, Concerto Moon, Sun Caged, etc) - plus BIRTHDAY!

Howdy everyone, and happy 4th of July to my American buddies!....

I am having my co-worker type this out for me because I still can't type too well, being that my left ring finger is still injured and trying to heal.  But I managed to post a few photos in the "me with band members" section.  (I also have a few that I added to the "my photos" section from Washington a couple of weeks ago).

There are three photos of myself with various Epica members, taken in April at their in store at Rasputins in Mountain View (Corey, you rule!) and after their gig.  I have an insane amount of respect for these guys because little did they know that I was very close to a nervous breakdown that day and just because they were goofy with me (as we always seem to be), they took my mind off everything and I got a bit better.  So thank you guys!!!

I also posted some photos that were taken last week at Barfest 2008.  One is with Paul from Sun Caged (taken by their very tall drummer, Roel) and also Roel Vink from Sun Caged.  It was great fun hanging out with them, especially on Sunday after the fest.  Much thanks to them for also allowing me to crash on a sleeping mat at the hotel on Saturday night/Sunday morning!  Was also funny as hell to run into Eric and also Daffodil the next day.  lol

There are also a few photos of me with various guys in Concerto Moon, my very, VERY favourite Japanese band!  (totemo arigatou, Leah!!!) You have no idea how damned happy I was to finally see and become friends with these guys.  They are all very humble, which makes it even better.  It was great fun hanging out with them for a few days and also talking with them - even if I have forgotten a bit of my used-to-be-fluent Japanese.  DOH  Sumimasen, Masayuki!  LOL  I was eternally grateful to Chiaki-san for also getting me to talk a bit to Concerto Moon in the first place.  For some reason, I was a bit shy that day (YES, I AM SERIOUS! lol).  Watashi wa nihongo o wasuremashita.  I felt a little stupid forgetting so much, but by Saturday night, I was doing pretty good - between English, Japanese, and sign language, HA!  I really actually don't like any of the photos I have with them (except the one with Norifumi) because it was windy as hell in one pic and then the one of Masayuki and I - I am very exhausted and red in the face from being hot (hence the black and white look).  Normally I wouldn't post those type of photos because the way I look, but I decided to do it anyway because I just love these guys.  Anyone in the Bay Area that didn't get to Barfest missed a lot, seriously!

On another note, I am in the middle of converting over 6,000 MORE photos, which will be about 65 hours of work, so please be patient.  I want to get all the photos up at the same time, so I'm guessing my update will be up the 3rd week of July.  And let me tell you, it will be MASSIVE.  I have close to 200 new galleries and around 9,000-11,000 new photos for the site, so I do appreciate all of your patience!

One last thing is to thank EVERYONE for putting so many birthday wishes already, and my birthday isn't even for another two days!  It makes me feel like  I actually do matter to people for at least a moment.  I will get back to all the messages and whatnot in my inbox once my finger heals enough to type well.  Again, thanks for your patience!  Also - if anyone wants to hang out on my actual birthday (on Sunday), come check out the TIDAL WAVE festival in ....San Francisco....!  It's from 12 noon to 6pm on both Saturday AND Sunday, it's ALL AGES, and FREEEEEEEEEEEEE!  Let me know if you will be there!

METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE 6.22.08, 4:12am:

Hey everyone -

I posted 10 new photos from my trip to Seattle.  They are actually taken in Kenmore, Washington - this lake area was GORGEOUS!  The photos of me at the pier actually have a bit of a story, too.  You see, I am absolutely terrified of water.  Don't get me wrong, I love to LOOK at it... I just won't go NEAR it.  But I saw how gorgeous the scenery was and finally coaxed myself to go out on the pier.  Then, to get me on the docking part was even harder for me because I had to step OVER a tiny bit of water to get on the docking part.  I think it took about 5 minutes of coaxing to do that - just ask Jeff!  I must thank him immensely for his patience with me, especially when he could NOT understand my fear.

the pictures on the pathway and in the trees is actually part of the same "park" as well.  I have no idea what possessed me to hug the tree, but hey, why not?  We were quite the goofy ones that day, since we were both running on no sleep, hahaha.

When I post my new, HUUUUUUUGE update for my website (target date is the first of July), there will be many more photos in this series - of the scenery, more areas of Washington, and Jeff as well.  If you feel bored, I wouldn't mind some seeing some photo comment love.  =)

Thanks to everyone for being so patient!

Hey everyone,

Thought I would post about two very insanely cool fests that are coming up!  The first is for the 2nd Annual Bay Area Rock Fest (BARfest), which is coming up NEXT WEEK!  What an incredibly crazy lineup - I am sooooooooo excited for the entire lineup, but also especially for Jeff Scott Soto (well, he IS in my top three singers, ya know, lol), and I cannot believe that I will finally have the change to see CONCERTO MOON from Japan!  Never did I think that would happen.  Not to mention that I finally get to see Darkwater from Sweden, whom I've been following for quite some time now.  Of course, Liquid Tension Experiment will be indeed a treat, and I am also reallllllllllly looking forward to finally seeing Sun Caged live!  I've known Marcel for many years now, but it will be great to meet and see him in person for once.  =)  As always, I love all the other bands as well, but these are my OMG moments for now.  hehe  Let me know if any of you are going!  Here's the flyer:

The second festival is the 11th Annual Tidal Wave 11 festival in San Francisco, which is July 5th and 6th, which just HAPPENS to me my birthday, too!  WOOOOOOOOOOOOO, great way to spend THAT birthday!  =)  Tonus and Pete have done a great job getting a solid lineup for both days, with day two leaning more toward the black and death side of things.  It's nice to see a festival that is willing to mix it up a bit.  It is also in a great setting since it's OUTSIDE and another great thing is it's ALL AGES and also FREE FREE FREE!!!  Can't get better than that.  Who is going to this one???  See the flyer here (CLICK THE FLYER TO SEE IT LARGER):

There is a good time to be had at BOTH of these festivals!  I hope those of you in the Bay Area will come out and support the scene, as Dave, Bear, Tonus, Pete, and all the crew are doing a great job keeping the scene alive and well out here.  Please let me know if you will be at either of these fests!  Oh, and as well, feel free to repost this bulletin - the more we get the info out there, the more people know about it and maybe the more people that will come!
