Donate to Komen Race for the Cure!

My family, friends, and I are participating in this year's Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

As you may or may not know, I have lost friends and relatives to breast cancer, so this affects me very personally. Please help me reach my ambitious goal of $2,000 for this year's race.

Get Your Predators License Plate!

The Tennessee State Legislature recently passed a bill allowing a Nashville Predators specialty license plate, with proceeds benefiting the Nashville Predators Foundation.

On Thursday, July 19, we will begin collection of the mandatory minimum of 1,000 deposits required for the Tennessee Department of Transportation to produce and make these specialty plates available.

The deposits are $35.00 for each vehicle you wish to tag using a Predators-branded plate.

If you are a hockey fan or know someone who is (if you're reading this post, you definitely know someone), please please PLEASE sign this petition for us.  Spread the word to anyone else you may know who is a Predators fan, hockey fan, or knows anyone who is.  Or just get people to sign it because it only takes 15 seconds tops.  If you don't, I'll be very upset.

I've had my first photo publication this past week.  It's pretty cool to have a photo I thought unfit for general web consumption wind up on the COVER of a book!

Sam - March of Dimes Walk America 2007
Sam
Message from Team Captain - March of Dimes Walk America 2007

As most of you know, Sam was born three months premature and has Cerebral Palsy. We don't know why Sam was born early and the doctors seem to just accept prematurity. The March of Dimes funds research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it. Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies' health today.

We've formed our WalkAmerica team to celebrate Sam's achievements over the past three years and the appreciation of life he's brought into ours. Sam soaks life in and revels in it (he really loves to listen to All American Rejects) almost like he knows how he came into the world - maybe he does! Secondly, we'd like to raise money to help all babies be born healthy, because although things turned out for Sam, it's not an ideal way to come into this world and it doesn't turn out as well for so many. Please take a couple of minutes to donate as much as you can, however much or little. Howard's company will match whatever we raise. Thanks for whatever you can offer. If you would like to join us in Manhattan for the walk just click above to join the team!!!!

Thanks - Katy

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

How about now?

Drunk MySpace

"Much like the Drunk Dial or the drunk text, it is contacting someone by way of your myspace account while sloppy drunk and send messages and/or comments, esp., to your friends that you will most likely regret once you sober up.

Contacting someone on MySpace while drunk that you would not contact sober, particularly an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend."

Here's a quote I came up with while posting to a friend's MySpace blog.  I thought it was pretty good coming off the top of my head.

"Life is too short to let it go to waste, but don't think wasting time is a waste of time."

I'm typically not a big fan of Flash stuff.  It's trite and generally crappy.  However, the Punk-O-Matic has redeemed Flash in its entirety.  The background music is awesome (if you're a Fat Wreck label fan) and even the random stuff sounds pretty decent.  It's at least worth playing around with!

This text is borrowed from an e-mail from Kate:

"Come one, come all to Paws in the Park. This year on October 14th people in Chattanooga will be gathering in Coolidge Park to support the goal of making Hamilton County a 'No Kill Zone' for unwanted pets who are trainable, adoptable and treatable. Please help the cause and come down and walk. If you raise $100, registration is free and you get a t-shirt and other good stuff. If you don't have time to raise the money, it is $40 for a family (2 adults, dogs and children), $25 for a single with one dog, and $15 for an unaccompanied walker. If you don't have a dog, there will be plenty of shelter dogs to walk and play with. For more information, call, 624-5302."

I also have uploaded the registration form and brochure here.
