I wanted to write this short article because this is the time of the year that we start receiving a few questions from our customers wanting to know if we have changed the adhesive on our label stock.

The typical caller states that the labels do no seem to be sticking as well as they did earlier in the year.  While there are many factors that may cause labels not to adhere well, this time of year one factor jumps to the front.  If you have read a few of my previous posts, you'll notice I try not to get too technical with my explanations.  So keeping in the tradition with the KISS principle, let me suggest that in most cases the cause is cool weather.  Cool weather effects label adhesion.

Our labels are warehoused in a temperature controlled facility. Your house, office or warehouse is also probably nice and cozy. So how can cold weather impact performance? Let's first take a look at the label stock.

After you place the order, we pull the labels, box them up and at the end of the day load them into our friendly UPS driver's truck. At this point, they spend most of the time in cool to down right freezing delivery trucks.  This causes adhesive to become less "tacky".  Depending on the surface you are applying the labels to, the lack of tackiness can be more or less noticeable.

Which brings me to my second point, the surface you are applying the labels to.  If you store the objects that receive the labels in a cool or unheated location, it is less likely you will get good adhesion.  If at all possible, keep you to be labeled objects in a clean storage facility that is room temperature and away from windows.

Now that we know why this may be happening, how do we fix it?  The answer is heat.  Allow the labels to sit in a warm area before applying them.  It may take a while for them to warm up enough to get the optimal adhesion.  It all depends on how cold the labels became and how warm of a spot they are acclimating in.

Adhesive reacts differently to many different substrates.  Make sure the products you will be applying the labels to are clean, dry and free from oil and silicon.  It is also a good idea to let the objects the labels are going to adhere on acclimate to room temperature as well.

If you have any questions regarding this problem or any other label issue, please feel free to email us at planet@planetlabel.com

Happy Labeling,

Ron

The leaves are turning and the nights are getting colder.  If you're house is like my house there's a whole lot more activity going on.  Family get togethers, school programs, decorations and gift giving is just around the corner.  For November we are offering two different label sizes at Sale prices.  LT175-1-1 White Uncoated Labels and LT625-10 White Uncoated Labels

LT175-1-1 is our 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet that is one label with die cuts on the front.  The liner side has a score down the middle making it easer for you to remove the liner.  Simply fold the sheet outward at the crease and pull off each side of the liner.  This size label is good for storage boxes, labeling pallets for shipping or for manually cutting down to odd sizes.

LT625-10 is our 2 x 4 1/4 rectangle with 10 labels per sheet.  This size is easy to use on MicroSoft Word® as it is compatible with Avery® size 5352.  These labels are perfect for mailing and shipping boxes, return address labels for larger envelopes and tons of other application around the office and warehouse.

Both the Sale Items are compatible with laser and inkjet printers as well as copier machines.  We sell these labels by the box of 100 sheets.  The pricing per box for each item is $9.00 for 1 - 49 boxes, $8.50 for 50 to 99 boxes and $8.25 for 100+ boxes.  And don't forget if you purchase 23 or more boxes at a time, your freight is only $10.00!

If you need a durable label that resists water that you can print on your laser printer, take a look at our White Polyester labels for laser printers. These labels can be used indoors or outdoors as they do not absorb water. They are perfect for bath product labeling, water bottle labels and outdoor signage.  They also make good shelf marking material because even though they have a permanent adhesive, the label can be removed in one piece without tearing because of it's strenght.

Now you have more options! We've recently added 1 2/3" & 2 1/2" circles to this line. If you have any questions regarding this material or if you would like to request samples just shoot us an email or call 866-252-1520.
