Current mood:  accomplished
Hi friends - in case you didn't know, we've been keeping up our blog on PleaseRock.com.  We've been super-busy with all sorts of projects.

But the big thing on the horizon is the release of The Long-Playing EP!  We're celebrating by performing with an 8-piece band (featuring all members of Yacht Rock) and selling hard copies at our show this Saturday:

Y O U @ Smith's Olde Bar
Saturday, July 25 in Atlanta, GA
Doors @ 8 pm, Y O U @ 9:30 sharp (EARLY SHOW!)
Y O U is second out of 3 bands

This is a relaunch of sorts for Y O U, lots more in the offing.  You can read about it in an interview with AMG here.  See you Saturday!

Hi Friends - Twerkin' it out.  Last week we had a great time in New Orleans on my bachelor party - lots of great music, absinthe, a Hornets game (Chris Paul can ball), we even foiled a robbery.  Seriously.

This week we've been back in the studio recording some strings with our buddy / Yacht Rock Manager Geoff Melkonian.  We're trying really hard to get this stuff done, but we're on our own for the last few overdubs because producer man Ben is slammed with other projects.  I hate that I was sick the week we did most of the tracking.  All we have left to do are vocals, and now I have to try to do it all myself.  I think the results will be stellar, though...

We're also doing a couple of new projects (like we needed more stuff to do.)  Yesterday we had our second rehearsal with Tim Smith (the Producers, Jellyfish, now Sheryl Crow) and Peter Stroud (Pete Droge, Don Henley, also now Sheryl Crow) for an XTC tribute that Tim dreamed up.  I was never into XTC before, but their music is bitchin!  Plus, playing with those guys is such an honor.

And next week we're starting rehearsals with Jeff Carlisi (.38 Special) on a new retrospective "Storytellers" type thing with his music and the music that influenced him.  That will be amazing and honorary (wrong usage of that word) as well.

In the meantime, I'm playing solo tomorrow night with Ari Hest and Tim Brantley at Eddies Attic in Decatur.  I go on first @ 7:30 pm - come for dinner, the food is great.  I'll be doing a bunch of the new stuff we've been working on in the studio, as well as some old Y O U standards, and doing some storytelling myself.  If you come I'll tell you all about the foiled robbery in the Big Easy...

Hi friends - we're honored to be warming up for indie-alt-country ground-breakers Clem Snide tomorrow night at the Earl.  They've got heart-breakers and a sense of irony - we'd like to think we have a few tings in common.

Doors are at 8:30, we play FIRST at 9 pm!  We know it's a school night, so we promise you'll be home early if you're just there to see us.  But if you stay to see Clem Snide, you won't be disappointed.  They've been getting love from Paste, NPR, etc. for their new record Hungry Bird.

The band after us, the Heligoats from Illinois, are very cool as well.  It's gonna be a fun night.  Come join us...

Doors @ 8:30p, Y O U @ 9p sharp!

In other news, the Moviekiss Lite Brite Video will be apearing at Atlanta's High Museum of Art this summer.  Cool and legitimate.

We've got new Dog Stevens Webisodes in production, and some other things working as well.  How should we put them out?  We dunno yet...

We're finishing up the new tunes with Ben early next week.  We'll get them to you as soon as they're mixed and mastered.  Come to the Earl and give them a listen...

I'm going to blog with proper capitalization today.  Tomorrow night, our buddy Brian Wiltsey is releasing a new CD (produced by our buddy Clay Cook), and I'm opening the show.  I'm rolling out a few new tunes, and the show is gonna be webcasted live.

Recording Progress:  Ben's been in San Diego, but he gets back soon and we'll get to finish the new recordings!  All they need is vocals, I was sick when we were in the studio so I sounded like me with a nose plug.  I'm really excited about how these sound.  We wanted the follow-up to Flashlights to be even better, and this is definitely it.  The songs are Firefly, Honest Man, and Goin' Down Swingin'.

Moviekiss Lite Brite will soon be available On Demand for all Georgia Comcast customers.  It was selected as one of the films to represent the Atlanta Film Festival on the cable channel.

Hi, we've been busy. We're heading into the studio this week with our friend Ben H. Allen to record 3 new tunes - Goin' Down Swingin', Honest Man, and Firefly.  A new year, a new sound...

We've been doing a lot of Yacht Rocking lately.  We sold out the show at Andrew's Upstairs in Buckhead this weekend.  My resolution is to play more original music this year, and we're off to a good start:

February 12 I'm opening solo for Brian Wiltsey's CD Release in the Atlanta Room at Smith's Olde Bar, which should be early, intimate, and very cool.

February 20 our old friends Second Shift are reuniting for a show, and we'll be playing in the middle slot.  The Star Bar is a great venue these days. We'll be debuting the versions of these new tunes we're recording with Ben in an as-yet undecided band format and line-up.

March 11 we get to open for indie rock powerhouse Clem Snide at the Earl, and on March 27 I get to start what I hope will be a string of fun dates @ Eddie's Attic.  Our new stuff is well-suited for Eddie's.

Anyways, we're not sure how this new material is gonna be presented on the web.  We're thinking of starting a blog?  We've got one webisode of 3 Dog Stevens done, and another in production.  We're also documenting our studio experience this week.  Hopefully we'll be more communicative.  Have a fun week...

Yay! If I could choose to meet 3 living people Bill Clinton would be one of them. CHECK. I met him last Thursday, read about it in the latest installment of PleaseBarack. I've been doing more blogging there than on MySpace of late, so check up on it...

In other news, LIMOZEEN will be opening for Of Montreal in Atlanta on November 8 @ the Tabernacle. That's gonna be a load of fun.

Yacht Rock and Tupperware Party have been working their butts off to fund the new Y O U records, both of which have been moving slowly but should pick up now. Gotta run, be good...

We had an awesome time last week playing Governor Perdue's Reception at the Republican National Convention. We swing to the left politically, but out differences didn't stop us from having fun together. Some of our friends asked us to play, and their actions promoting the cause in which they believed inspired us.

So we came home and started a new blog - PleaseBarack.com. You can read all about our adventures, find out how to help with our upcoming efforts to promote change, and check out sweet photographs of us with the governor on that blog. We'll keep this one focused on the music! Peace off...
