Since we still haven’t succeeded in getting complete world domination, we decided to make all our songs available for free! You can download our first demo ‘Retrolution’ and our EP ‘/2’ as MP3-files from our MySpace but to make it easier for you, you can also download them from these two links:

Ofcourse you can stil buy the cd’s at our shows, so if you like the songs and want to support us, or if you don’t like the songs but still want to support us, don’t hesitate to buy loads of cd’s from us. The more cd’s we sell, the sooner we’ll be able to record a full length, which will make everyone happy.

We also have 2 more shows confirmed with our friends from As the flame Purifies and Kudra Mata and working on some more shows as we speak.

To end this blog with a cliffhanger, we’re also working on some designs for merchandise which will be revealed someday in the near future…

It’s been a while since our latest update but we simply didn’t had that much to tell you. So we thought let’s just share some things that we have been busy with.

First of all, as of today we have released an official promo video so now you can all see what a polydrone show looks like if you haven’t seen us live before.

You might have noticed the reviews of our EP ‘/2’ on our MySpace and we are psyched that we haven’t received a single negative review at ALL! Maybe that one Greek review because we have no clue what it says…

Anywho, we had some really nice gigs the last months. The Tivoli gig was great and ofcourse we had our first show abroad in Antwerp. Altough it was a little quiet in ‘the Rots’ and my car got hit by a Belgium tram we still had a great time with the guys from Forlorn Shelter.

2 weeks ago we played in Het Kasteel in Alphen a/d Rijn which is a very cool venue and last week we had a very succesful gig at the N201 with Obsidian and our friends from As the Flame Purifies. As always the N201 had an amazing atmosphere, lot’s of great people in front of the stage and a LOT of great cold beer in the back of the stage.

Right now we don’t have any gigs planned but no worries, we’re working on some new shows but nothing has been confirmed yet. Just keep track of our MySpace and maybe we’ll be thrashin’ a venue near you soon!

We’re also working really hard on writing new songs which are going to blow you away! Lot’s of breakdowns, faster double-bass, more technical shit and some sweet moshing guitar licks. We allready played some new songs in Het Kasteel and the N201 where they got well received and more songs are being written as we speak.

Lords of Metal approached us for an interview which you can read here (in English). Jeff and Niels found some precious time to answer these questions and hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as we did.

13th of July is the Pit-stop festival in the Tivoli de Helling which we really look forward to! We share the stage with some great bands so we feel priviliged to play at this cool festival. We’ll probably play as the first band around 17.00hr so make sure you’re on time! Doors open at 16.30hr.

You might have noticed that the reviews of ‘Retrolution’ are gone from our MySpace but don’t be sad, you can still read them below in this blog entry. Since the new EP has just been released since the first of May it just didn’t seem right to have ‘Retrolution’ reviews on our MySpace. Soon we will have some new reviews of ‘/2’ and until then, just read a book or something.

It reminds me of my last days of earth, namely Armageddon!!! “Awakening” starts off with a Kill Em All riff then breaks into a wall of thrash, Clean and death vocals are present followed by very fast drumming and great fast ear splitting riffs. Did you know that EP is an abbreviation for Epic? Well now it is because our new EP is almost finished! The mixing, mastering, artwork and our personal lives are all finished and all we need now is a buck o’ five for the printing and pressing of the cd. Right now you can find a new song on our MySpace to give y’all a little preview. The song Sunburn is added to our little player and this week another new song will be added.

We want to thank Faber van Zweden who recorded, mixed and produced the EP at the IJlandstudio in Amsterdam and Ken Masters for mastering. Ken stands his ground streetwise and also proved to be a multitalented individual by mastering our EP. So a special thanks for Ken, this one time you’re not gay.

The name of our new EP is '/2' (pronounced as 'divide by 2') and the songs that are featured on this EP are:

2- Redemption
3- Inevitable
4- Sunburn

Total playing time is a little less then 17 min.

Last Saturday we played the finals of “het geheim van Starsound” at the Starsound studio’s. We didn’t win but it was one hell of a night! The place was fully packed and it was hot as hell on stage! We played a set of 5 songs containing every song of our new EP and Awakening which is featured on “Retrolution”.

After our show we did a small radio interview with Fred Siebelink and some other famous 3FM DJ’s like Rob Stenders, Rudy Makaay and Timur Perlin. They were all very positive and according to them, in our genre we were “fucking good!”. Which is a huge compliment ofcourse!

One of the members of the jury was from EMI records and before that he worked for Roadrunner (Machine Head, Lamb of God, DevilDriver) and he loved the song Awakening and he would defenitely keep an eye out for us.

All in all it was a night to remember and who knows what may come of it.

Last week we were in the studio to work on the mix of our new EP and it sounds very promising! We’re stoked about the results so far but it still needs some more mixing and then it needs to be mastered so hopefully by the end of April we’ll have the finished product.

The video of ‘Awakening’ is still in progress and needs some more editing. It takes some time because it’s all DIY and we are too damn busy with other important stuff like uh, you know, stuff...

Last Friday we played the semi-finals for “het geheim van Starsound” at the Starsound Studio and we made it to the finals! It didn’t come easily since there was a lot of competition and Tim passed out after our first song! It was a bit surreal since we just ended “All Dead Dave” (what an appropriate songtitle it turned out to be....) and all of a sudden Tim just collapsed on stage. The temperature, the lack of fluids and oxygen made him lose his consciousness but after he received some first aid and drank some water he turned out to be fine and we could continue the show. Despite the fact that we couldn’t play all the songs we wanted to because we lost a lot of time the jury was impressed and decided to advance us to the finals!

The finals will take place at the Starsound Studio on Saturday 21st of March and will be broadcasted live on Kxradio (www.kxradio.nl) and will be recorded by 4 or 5 camera’s so hopefully we’ll have some great footage after that! The jury will contain some very famous Dutch radio personalities like Rob Stenders and Henk Westbroek so it’s a great opportunity for us and even if we don’t win it’s great exposure!

Last Sunday we recorded the final takes of our videoclip for “Awakening” so hopefully we’ll have it finished by the end of the month. Of course we’ll let you know when and where you can find it although it’ll propably end up on our MySpace too.

The mixing of our new EP has begun but it takes more time than expected so we can’t really say when it will be available for purchase. We’ll keep you posted on this!

Polydrone

The gig in the N201 in Aalsmeer was amazing! The crowd was awesome and for a 2nd show it was more than we expected. There was some great moshing, a nice big circle pit and some amazing headbangin’ going on there! We played our new song “Inevitable” and after our complete set the crowd demanded more. Unfortunately we didn’t have any more songs left so we played “Redemption” a second time. So all in all it was a night to remember!

Last Friday we played at the “geheim van Starsound” which is a band competition where you can win free recording time in their studio. We played 4 songs because we only had 20 minutes to show our skills, but in those 20 minutes the crowd went friggin’ apeshit! Again some moshing and headbanging in this small venue which earned us a 2nd place and advanced us to the semi-finals! According to the jury we played “loud and tight” and that’s what we like to hear!
Friday the 27th of February we have to prove ourselves again for the jury and hopefully we can advance to the finals!

Because we really liked the recordings of our 2 songs a few weeks ago, we decided to book some more studio time at the IJland studio’s in Amsterdam. We recorded 2 more songs last weekend and it all turned out better than expected so we decided to bring out an EP which contains the 4 songs including our brandspanking new song “Inevitable”. We’re not sure when the EP will be finished since the songs need to be mixed and whatever they need to do to make it sound awesome. It may take some time so don’t hold your breath ;)

Like we said in our latest blog a mere 2 weeks ago we had some great stuff coming up. Although we can’t show you this great stuff yet we will let you know what this great stuff will be

We are recording a video for our song Awakening taken from our first demo “Retrolution”. Like everything we did so far the video is completely “DIY” and since it’s way cool to be a DIY band nowadays this means that we are extremely cool and awesome! All shots we did were done by the bandmembers so we had to be creative sometimes (like Jeff holding a camera while he’s lying on the hood of a driving car). There are some takes left to shoot so there’s no release date yet but we’ll keep you posted!

Some more great stuff: yesterday we were in the IJlandstudio’s in Amsterdam to record two tracks. The recordings went pretty smooth and after a LONG day of coffee, pizza and screaming we went home with some amazing material! The tracks will be mixed in the upcoming weeks so look forward for some heavy shit. Unfortunately the recordings weren’t entirely DIY because we don’t own a studio, sorry...

Right now we’re working on some new songs and hopefully one of these songs will be finished this week so we can play it during our N201 gig in Aalsmeer this Friday. But no promises here!
Speaking of this Friday, the other band we’ll be playing with is Hylash. A young Dutch metalcore band so expect some headbashing music on the 23rd! Hylash will get onstage around 10PM and we’ll be shredding around 11PM so make sure you’ll be there!

Last but not least, tonight (the 19th) a compilation of the “nieuwjaarsbeuk” festival will be broadcasted on the radio from 10pm ‘till midnight. You can listen to it through www.metalchapter.nl (in Dutch). We haven’t heard anything yet from the show but it promises to be one hell of a radioshow tonight!

First of all, happy new year!

Second, we can tell you guys that 2009 will be a great year for Polydrone. Some things we won’t mention right now just because we don’t have to and to keep ya’ll waiting in anxiety. But, some things we will share:

Even before all the food of the holidays was digested we played our very first gig last Saturday on the Nieuwjaarsbeuk Festival in de Gonz in Gouda. Although we have experience with former bands it’s always exciting to get on stage for the first time with a new band. You never know how the crowd will respond but we can proudly tell you guys that the responses were very positive! The festival was organized by the Metal Chapter, the radio show where we played live in the studio last month, which means that some highlights from the festival will be broadcasted on the radio on January 19th between 22.00hr and 24.00hr (10pm and 12pm). We have 2 more shows for you this January. The first one is on Friday the 23rd in the N201 in Aalsmeer. There is no entry fee, so more money to spend on beer! There will be one more band but it’s not yet confirmed which band that will be. The 2nd show is on Friday the 30th in the Starsound Studio’s in Utrecht. We’re chosen to compete for “het geheim van Starsound” where we can win some studiotime.

We have received some reviews from our demo “Retrolution” and all (except one) are extremely positive so we are very excited about this! It’s awesome to see that the responses are so positive for “Retrolution” which is recorded in such a small period of time after only a few jamsessions.
