So, I'm moving some of my slide shows from my main MySpace
page to my blog....my poor neglected blog, among other poor neglected blogs!

Here is the big birthday bash....March 07, where Godzilla and his Kaiju buds ruled
the night:

More slide shows.......

On Fat Tuesday, artist Hugh Meade organized a

Mardi Gras Parade in his Mesta Park neighborhood.

His vision is to have neighborhood Mardi Gras parades

all over Oklahoma City that converge and culminate

in one grand location for celebration with feasting

and other festivities.

The following are photos I took from the very

FIRST OKC NEIGHBORHOOD MARDI GRAS PARADE!:

We went to see Billy Joe Shaver in a park in Norman, OK...
FOR FREEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was rainy, but just
barely, and he's AMAZING!!! An icon in the making! It
was like going to see Howlin' Wolf or Muddy Waters except
this guy is country (real, honest, sublime country...not
polished bullshit hatboy stuff) and hasn't attained their
status yet. HE WILL!!!!

He also seems to be a bit of the trickster and all around
ornery character. He recently had to turn himself in to
the police for shooting a guy, allegedly in self defense,
at a bar close to where he lives in Texas. The story is
in the wikipedia thing below.

I'll be darned if my old teacher and exceptional songwriter,
John Hadley, wasn't there, which didn't surprise me cause
I knew he and his wife, Judi loved Billy Joe.

I was surprised that John was in Norman rather
than Nashville, but I knew he 'commuted' (it's wearing on
him). Anyway, he repeated to me several times that
Billy Joe Shaver was "THE BEST"!

That's a stellar recommendation!!!

From one songwriter to another.

There's something rather zen and shamanic about Shaver...
and his stage persona is theatrically endearing. His
songs ARE really marvelous!!! Conversational. Metaphysical.
Positive. Religious. Patriotic. But not like anyone
else's. He's truly an original!

Here's one of my pictures of him...
I intend to make a slide show to put on MySpace of my shots:
